Talitha’s Pov
Darkness called unto me and I listened, walking to a dark path with no end. The walks didn't slow down for hours until I heard a distinct voice calling out to me with so much passion and zeal.
“Who was that?” I wondered, disregarding the call to take another step when the voice grew louder.
“Talitha.”
No this isn't true. He is dead. I saw his lifeless body carried out by a guard. How did he escape the hands of death or were my fantasies playing out in real life.
I felt someone holding onto me. I couldn't make out the complete words because the voice was low but the mention of a child had my pulse running. My eyes flickered to my stomach but I couldn't see it.
I ran my palm over my stomach and felt the bump. I'm with child. A child is living inside of me but how do we make it out of here?
I dragged my feet towards a path that showed a light- a light only but where it leads to I don't know or the danbres in it.
“Who's there?” I walked into the light and the next thing I had no idea but it felt like a tornado leading me to somewhere like it has been waiting for the moment to take me.
Cough.
Cough.
My eyes opened. I was expecting to see the dungeon but got shocked as my eyes widened in surprise at the room. Asrian has taken my body without restraint and brought me to his chambers to finish up what he started.
I wrapped my hand around my chest protectively and was about to sob in pain when my eyes clicked with a familiar.
“Hades!” I paled. Colour drained in my face as I shook my head and proceeded by slapping my cheeks hoping my eyes were deceiving me. I think of him day and night wishing and trying to heal from the gruesome event that day, now he appeared to me in spirit there's no way he survived.
“Forget what you saw in the past. I'm back to you in the flesh and how is the child doing?” His eyes resting on my baby bump, a smile comes on my face at his act of care. His excited about the child, the love and pore adoration he will rain on it yet it hasn't been born yet.
“I don't know about the child but about myself I feel sorrow, stress and fatigue. My lower abdomen hurts from a fall and don't ask me how that happened just know I didn't try to endanger the life of my child.”
“I understand.”
“Where is he?”
“He is where his decisions chose him to be six feet under.”
I coughed hard from the bitter truth. Does he mean…
“Yes he is dead, let's stop talking about him, he ain't important and moreover I'm glad to see you again.”
“Okay.” The dimly lit room was the best place to be not seeing our faces to mock or hurt but rather listening to words and hearing them.
“I want a fresh start between us. I'm not forcing you anytime you make up your mind. All I'm saying is our child can't be born with such hostility and strife. I want us to leave the past behind and focus on the future with our child.”
“That’s impossible…” I murmur playing with my fingers thinking if I should hearken to his words and let go of the past.
That's impossible a topic he shouldn't have scratched. On one hand I'm glad he made it alive on the second he can't gaslight me into forgetting all his Clan has put mine through.
“Life is as simple as the air we breathe but when faced with toxicity can be dangerous. I know you must be wondering why I sound like this. I'm the villain in your book but take it as a repentant man, I've seen the light and as a man who is safeguarding his child. The kingdom won't accept a Heir with the blood of a Witch running through his/her veins and that I want to correct before you put to bed.”
“Are you uplifting?”
“Yes Talitha. I realised you did nothing to be treated the way I did you and for that I wish you would forgive me maybe not now because I can't pressure you but someday you will find it in your heart to forgive me.”
I didn't know my eyes were leaking with tears until he wiped them with his palm pulling me into a hug patting my hair.
“Te-ll me it's a joke that you don't mean...” Large sobs broke out from my throat. I couldn't hold back the hot tears so I let it fall, staining his clothes which he didn't mind still rubbing my hair.
“I mean every word. Every single word and there's more surprises…” He pulls me apart, his gaze trails to the door.
Galina walks in with teary eyes with a bowl filled with fruits. Was she the surprise?
“How are you feeling?” she asked with a calm voice that got me dazed for a second that it was truly Galina speaking and not some clone.
“Alive.” I say in a whisper.
“Good to see you made it. I brought you some fruits. It's good for the child and I chose this opportunity to apologise to you for everything I've done to you and hope you forgive me.”
There was something about her I couldn't place my hands on. Like in Hades case I could feel the raw and genuinity in his voice and body language but in hers her charade screams fake.
She tweaks her fingers in my face. “Are you listening?”
“No, yes… I mean I wasn't.”
I saw a line of venom on her face but it changed quickly into a soft smile. “I think you're tired, have enough rest, maybe I'll see you some other time.” She suggests placing the bowl on the side of the bed. I wiggle the bad thoughts out of my mind. I judged her easily because of her past misbehaviour. Queen Galina isn't as bad as I once thought.
“Yes you're right she needs a lot of rest. Thank you for making it out in that dark space you're a heroine, Talitha.” I nod as he arranged the mattress and before leaving he took my right hand and kissed the back of my palm.
My eyes drifted to sleep with a tear sliding down my tear duct and it dropped on the pillow.
Yum.
It's indeed a fresh start.
