I was standing next to Hunter at the gas station, trying to absorb the information that had just been revealed. Ignis was taking my children to the pack. The shock reflected in my eyes, and my heart throbbed with a mix of hope and apprehension.
“Are you sure about this?” I asked Hunter, seeking validation for the news that seemed too good to be true.
Hunter nodded determinedly. “Zora spoke on the phone. Ignis is taking the kids to the pack.”
A nervous smile formed on my lips as I processed the idea that my children were on their way to a place where they would be protected. “The Goddess must have heard my prayers... And Zora? Does she know you're their father?”
Hunter shook his head. “No, it seems that hasn't been revealed yet. But, Fierce, you don't need to worry. Once we get to the pack, I'll clear everything up with Zora.”
I bit my lip, nervous, imagining the moment when Hunter would have to clarify everything with Zora. “What if Ignis tells her first?”
Hunter held my hand firmly, trying to reassure me. “Whether it's Ignis or me, everything will be revealed. And finally, I can live without the lies that have haunted my life. I can live with my children and my Luna.”
“Are you really saying that?” I asked, looking into Hunter's eyes. “Are you going to reject Zora?”
He looked into my eyes seriously, but before Hunter could respond, Caleb arrived with food that he quickly bought.
“What's going on here?” he asked, observing our exchange of glances.
“Caleb, Ignis is taking the kids to the pack,” I explained, trying to process the complexity of this unusual situation.
“Are you sure about that?” Caleb inquired, his eyes locking onto Hunter's.
“Zora just called and confirmed it,” Hunter replied calmly.
“That's great!” Caleb exclaimed, optimistic. “Now, let's eat and hit the road.”
“We might as well eat on the road,” Hunter suggested, looking at Caleb. “I'll drive so you can eat in peace.”
We accepted the suggestion, and as we settled into the car, the atmosphere felt lighter. Caleb began distributing the food, and in the occasional silence broken by the rustling of paper and chewing, my mind turned to the future unfolding before us.
The news that the children were on their way to the pack brought relief, but the uncertainty about what would happen next weighed on me. Hunter, despite his brave words, would still need to face the real choice between me and Zora. I wondered how it would be possible to move forward when my own happiness depended on someone else's pain.
Caleb, beside me, noticed my silent contemplation and whispered, “Fierce, trust in the Goddess. Everything will fall into place.”

We were in the car, with Caleb beside me and Hunter at the wheel. I watched Hunter through the rearview mirror, trying to decipher his thoughts. The question about Zora still lingered in the air, and I wondered if he would truly be able to reject her for me. The miles unfolded before us as the road stretched out, leading us toward the pack.
Suddenly, Caleb interrupted the journey with a firm request. “Stop.”
Hunter hit the brakes, and Caleb, determined, pointed to something ahead. “Jeff.”
We got out of the car, and Hunter and I followed Caleb toward the man walking alone on the road.
“Jeff,” I murmured, and he turned, surprised to see me with Caleb and Hunter. “What are you doing here?”
Jeff was staggering, his body showing evident signs of whatever had brought him here.
“Fierce, Caleb, Hunter,” he mumbled, his voice filled with surprise. “What are you doing here?” He seemed as perplexed as we felt.
Caleb, with an angry tone, approached Jeff, calling him by his nickname. “You bastard, what the hell are you doing here?”
Discomfort hung in the air as Jeff faced Caleb, and I felt a knot in my stomach thinking about what this encounter could trigger.
Jeff, with a cynical smile, responded with his typical defiant attitude. “Just business, my friend. I'm just trying to survive.”
Hunter remained silent, observing the exchange between Caleb and Jeff. I approached, staring at Jeff with a mix of curiosity and suspicion.
“Business? What kind of business, Jeff?” I asked cautiously.
Jeff glanced quickly at Hunter before answering, as if measuring his words. “Let's say our fates continue to be intertwined, Fierce.”
“You have a lot of explaining to do, Jeff,” I said, my voice loaded with repressed anger. I grabbed his shoulders and shook him. “Why did you go to my house? Why did you kidnap Cassian, Dorian, and Kane? Who hired you? Tell me!”
Jeff averted his gaze, looking at Caleb as if seeking support. I asked again, wanting answers that justified the atrocity he had committed.
“Why did you go to my house and take my children?”
Caleb, visibly irritated, approached Jeff and pushed him. “Answer Fierce. What you did was wrong, and you know it.”
Jeff smiled cynically, as if he were enjoying the whole situation. “Didn't you tell her, Caleb? What kind of friend are you?”
Caleb crossed his arms, frustrated, but said nothing. I stared at Jeff with impatience, demanding a coherent explanation for his cruel actions.
Hunter approached Jeff, an intense aura of determination around him. “Who hired you to do this? Who is behind all of this?”
Jeff laughed, a laugh that echoed sinisterly in the quietness of the road. “Does it matter, Hunter? The fate of these kids is already sealed. Nothing you do will change that.”
The feeling of helplessness and anger grew within me. Jeff continued to act as if all of this were inevitable, as if he were just a pawn in a game we couldn't fully comprehend.
“You can't just take my children and get away with it,” I declared, my voice trembling with contained anger.
Jeff shrugged, as if he cared little about my words. “They're not just your children, Fierce. They are part of something bigger, something that neither you nor Caleb, nor even the great Hunter can control.”
“Who?” I asked, my voice vibrating with determination. “Who is behind this, Jeff?”
He laughed, challenging me with his insolent gaze. “I won't break the rules of my job, Fierce. What matters is that they are valuable pieces to some interested parties.”
“Who are these interested parties, Jeff?” I asked, urgency echoing in my voice.
Jeff let out a cynical laugh, as if he were enjoying my desperation. “They are not people, Fierce. It's a person, a cunning mind that orchestrated all of this precisely because they see beyond where others only see children.”
Confusion settled on my face. A person? Who could be so ruthless as to orchestrate the kidnapping of my children? I looked at Hunter and Caleb, searching for any sign of understanding in their faces. Hunter seemed as puzzled as I was, and Caleb maintained a clenched expression, as if eager to confront Jeff at any moment.
“Can you at least give us a name?” Caleb demanded, patience rapidly running out.
Jeff's gaze met mine, and his words sounded like a foreboding warning. “You're too innocent, Fierce. Can't you see what's at stake here?”
Caleb, in turn, didn't hesitate to show the beast that dwelled within him. His body transformed into an imposing wolf, eyes sparkling with fury. The surprise on my face contrasted with the determination in Caleb's eyes.
Before I could fully comprehend the situation, Caleb lunged at Jeff, his fangs bared. I screamed, ordering him to stop, but the transformation back to his human form only occurred after Jeff's body lay motionless on the ground.
“What have you done, Caleb?” I asked, my voice choked with disbelief. “Why did you attack him like that?”
Hunter, now between us, stared at Caleb. “Caleb, you shouldn't have done that. He could have had important information.”
Caleb returned to his human form. He looked at me, his tired eyes reflecting a mix of remorse and the need for explanation.
“Fierce, he was going to attack you. I just... reacted.”
I was stunned, processing how quickly events had unfolded. Caleb rummaged through Jeff's torn clothes, retrieving a dagger. The revelation of the sharp object brought a wave of dread.
“Was this meant for me?” I asked, my eyes fixed on the dagger.
Caleb nodded. “He planned to use this against you. I had no choice, Fierce. I couldn't allow anything to happen to you.”
My gaze turned to Jeff, whose once threatening presence now lay still on the asphalt. A mix of emotions cumulated within me: relief that Caleb had acted to protect me, but also a growing fear of what more could be in store.
“Caleb, what did Jeff mean about you not telling Fierce?” demanded Hunter, his serious expression reflecting the urgency of the moment.
Caleb cast me a disturbed look before sighing deeply.
“I don't know what he was talking about,” he told Hunter. “I really don't know what he's talking about, I swear.”
Hunter approached Caleb, his expression intensifying. “You know exactly what I'm talking about, Caleb. You better spill it right now.”
Caleb sighed deeply and looked at me before beginning to speak. “Alright, I'll tell.”
“Start talking, Caleb,” ordered Hunter, his patience wearing thin. As Hunter headed back to the car, Caleb finally began unraveling the twisted narrative that surrounded us.
“I lied about the job I did for Alpha King Garnet,” Caleb confessed, his voice filled with regret. “The truth is, I wasn't hired to kill Zora's predestined wolf. I am Zora's predestined wolf.”
