After the shared moment by the stream, Hunter and I emerged from the water, our bodies still resonating with the intensity of that exchanged moment of love under the full moon. The surrounding forest seemed more alive, as if it had witnessed something extraordinary.
Hunter looked at me with golden eyes full of sincerity. “You are unique to me, Fierce.”
A smile formed on my lips, and I whispered, “You are unique to me too, Hunter.”
He approached, gently holding my hand. “There's something I would like to ask.”
Curious, I looked at him. “What is it?”
The serious expression on his face betrayed the importance of the question about to be asked. “On the day of my coronation as heir to Alastair, if I were to declare you as my mate, would you accept?”
My eyes widened, surprised and moved by the magnitude of what he was suggesting. “Are you asking me to be your Luna?”
Hunter nodded, locking eyes with mine. “Yes, Fierce. There's no one else I want by my side.”
My heart pounded, and a radiant smile spread across my face. “Yes, a thousand times yes.”
He held me in his arms, and our lips met again in a kiss filled with promises and emotions. It was as if the universe conspired in our favor in that magical moment.
However, my delight was momentarily interrupted when I sensed a change in the surrounding scent. Alastair was nearby, his scent filling the air. A sense of apprehension ran down my spine, and my body shivered involuntarily.
“Hunter, Alastair is coming,” I murmured, pulling away slightly.
He frowned, concerned. “How close is he?”
“Alastair is very close,” I replied, anxiety rising. “You should go.”
Hunter didn't hesitate. He transformed into his gray wolf, and with one last exchange of glances filled with emotions, he headed towards the forest.
I stood there, watching him disappear among the trees, a smile of happiness mixed with the unease that Alastair's proximity provoked. My heart still pulsed with the confirmation that Hunter reciprocated my feelings, but the shadows of the pack loomed over us.
The moment of love and commitment became a prelude to challenges that lay ahead. I knew that Alastair would not view favorably the possibility of his heir choosing an omega as a mate, defying ancient traditions. Or perhaps, being me, he might be more flexible, given that he raised me as one of them.
However, that night, under the moonlight, I chose to celebrate the love we had found. Soon, we would face the consequences of our decisions, but for now, I remained there, absorbing the joy of Hunter's affirmative answer, hopeful that together, we could overcome any obstacle the pack placed in our path.

The day of Hunter's coronation as the alpha heir arrived, and the atmosphere in the pack pulsed with anticipation and excitement. Fierce, Sibyl, and Cierce were summoned by Alastair to the center of the gathering, where the pack leader would announce their responsibilities for the event. Finally, after days without seeing him, I stood before Alastair once again.
Alastair stared at the three omegas with his imposing presence, outlining the importance of the task assigned to them. “You will be in charge of caring for the daughters of the alphas who have come for Hunter's coronation,” he announced.
Sibyl, with a respectful expression, responded, “It is an honor to serve the pack in this way, Alastair. I'm sure my partners agree.”
Cierce, expressing her gratitude, added, “I feel very honored to contribute.”
I remained silent, my heart racing. With each passing day, the longing for Hunter intensified, and a mix of emotions bubbled within me. The love I held seemed on the verge of overflowing at any moment.
Alastair dismissed the omegas, allowing Sibyl and Cierce to withdraw. When it was my turn, I prepared to leave, but Alastair stopped me with a gesture of his hand. “Stay, Fierce.”
I turned to face him, unsure of what to expect. “What would you like, great alpha?”
Alastair began by inquiring about my well-being. “How are you, Fierce?”
I answered honestly, “I'm fine, Alastair.”
He continued, asking about the treatment I received from the other omegas. “Are the omegas treating you well?”
I affirmed with conviction, “Yes, I've learned a lot from them.”
Alastair expressed his satisfaction with a nod. “I'm glad to hear that.”
Then, I dared to ask what I longed for the most: “Does this mean I can go back home, closer to you and the others?”
Alastair's response hit me like a blow. “Your place, Fierce, is with the omegas, and that is my final decision.”
I stood in shock, a mixture of sadness and frustration taking hold of me. “It's not fair,” I murmured, unable to contain my disbelief.
Alastair questioned, irritated, “Not fair? Why?”
I gathered courage to express what boiled within me. “It's unfair because, being an omega, I have no chance of having a good mate. I can't choose. It's a sentence of loneliness.”
Alastair, realizing where the conversation was heading, asked with a piercing look, “When you say 'good mate,' are you referring to Hunter?”
I affirmed, without hesitation, “I would make a great mate for Hunter. It's unfair when he chooses me, traditions preventing it because I don't have status.”
Alastair's response was sharp. “Unfair is you not seizing the chance life has given you. You could have died with your parents, but you are here, alive, in front of me. That should be enough for you.”
My voice came out in a tone filled with despair. “I would prefer to have died with them.”
Alastair approached, his imposing presence accentuated. “Be careful what you wish for, Fierce. The Moon Goddess may be listening.”
In a sigh of frustration, I replied, “I hope she hears that I want to be Hunter's mate.”
Alastair warned, with seriousness, “If it were up to me, you would never be a Luna. But that decision lies with Hunter and the Moon Goddess.”
With that statement, Alastair dismissed me, and I withdrew, leaving the pack leader behind, along with the storm of emotions churning within me.
The fate now seemed like a card in the hands of greater forces, and the uncertainty of what was to come accompanied me as I departed, determined to face the days that would unfold with courage and the hope that, somehow, the love I harbored for Hunter would find a way.
