Chapter 136 Back in his arms

Chapter 136 Back in his arms
~Luciano~

I closed my eyes and heaved a deep sigh, running my fingers through my hair which was hanging freely. The fact that Hazel was mad at me and she didn't want to talk to me worried me so much.

I admit that I did wrong.I just hope she will calm down and forgive me. I had promised Hazel that I would never leave the kingdom without informing her. However, I broke the promise once again and the thought of it made me mad at myself.

My heart ached as though someone was squeezing it into a tiny ball. What scared me was when Hazel asked if she would end up losing our babies or dying when I was not around.

I know Hazel is afraid because of what happened to Monalisa. She is afraid to lose our babies and so am I. I can't imagine losing the twins after nine months of waiting for their arrival. I just hope that everything will turn out well.

I picked the papers that needed the queen's signings and decided to take them to my mother's office so that she could work on them. I checked on the digital wall clock in my office and realised that I had to wind up the work and go to Hazel because I had promised her I would make some time for us.

I don't want to break my promise again because it will only make things more complicated than it is right now.

I knocked on the wooden mahogany door and walked inside when my mother permitted me.She was talking to Mark and smiling broadly.

"Why am I left out?"I asked with a raised brow, "Don't behave like a two-year-old, bro."Mark joked and I groaned at his words.

Despite Mark and I being half-brothers.I'm happy that nothing changed between the two of us. I will forever consider him the only sibling and brother that I have.

"Mother, these papers need your signature," I said, placing the file on her table and giving her a polite smile. My mother looked at me with raised eyebrows.

"Are you okay, son?"She asked and I saw worry in her eyes. I know my mother knows me better, she sees through my soul and she knows when I'm fine and when I'm not. I can hide my emotions from most people but not from her.

"I will leave the two of you for the meantime.I have some pending work that I need to work on,"Mark announced, he woke up from the highly backed chair and smiled at me,then patted my shoulder and gave it a tight squeeze.

I know he was giving us some time alone. He was doing this because he was so concerned about me and he wanted me to explain to our mother what was troubling me.

I sat on the highly backed chair opposite my mother and heaved a deep sigh. There was silence inside the queen's throne room for a while.

"Hazel and I are not on good terms and that is troubling me Mother "I confessed to my mother because I knew she could help me. I just wanted someone to speak to. I just wanted to air out my fears and frustration to someone and that someone is my mother.

" I'm worried about Hazel's well-being because she's carrying our baby, mother. I don't want to be the reason why our babies are going through some stress because Hazel is not fine.I feel so guilty about everything."I ran my fingers through my hair and held onto it so tightly as though my life depended on it.

"What happened between the two of you?"My mother inquired. I was happy that my mother had put everything aside just to listen to my complaints. I have been longing for this day so much. The day my mother will listen to me without judging and it was finally here!

"I didn't inform her when I left the kingdom," I told my mother and she was quiet for a while. I saw some emotions flash in her eyes and I could tell that the words touched her heart and soul.

"It reminds me of your father, Luciano."She heaved a deep sigh after saying those words. It reminded her of the memories that she was trying to forget.

"Your father never informed me whenever he left the kingdom. He never involved me in his plans either. That is the reason that pushed me to do some things."She paused to catch her breath.I know she was talking about giving in to Nikolai's idea.

"I know what Hazel is going through because I went through the same thing in the past and it hurt so much."My mother said and I felt hurt in her voice with each word that came out of her lips.

"I wouldn't want any woman to go through whatever I went through in the past. You need to inform your wife about everything, Luciano. Don't make her feel left out.She has the right to get mad at you."My mother said and I looked away in shame because what my mother was saying was true.

"I'm going to talk to her. I don't want Hazel to feel like she's less important to me."I explained to my mother and she nodded, the corner of her lips curving into a smile.

"You have to. She's a good girl."My mother said and I smiled at her words. I'm happy to know that my mother loves Hazel now despite them not starting on good terms.

"I better get going," I said and stood up.My mother gave me the strength to go and talk to Hazel. I don't want her to feel as though I don't care because I care fucking much about her.

I walked to the other side of the table, planted a gentle kiss on my mother's hair and hugged her tightly. She patted my shoulder and I couldn't help but smile because it felt so good to experience my mother's comfort.

"Thank you for your advice, mother."I said when I pulled off and smiled.

"I will always be here for you, son. Don't ever feel afraid to talk to me about anything. I will always listen and try to help you in every way possible."My mother said and I couldn't help but smile broadly.

I know my mother was doing all this to make up for all those years that she distanced herself. All in all,I'm happy that she's living her life happily after opening up to us.

"I'm sending my greetings to Hazel."My mother said and I nodded.I walked out of the queen's hospital and headed straight to the Gamma's wing to check on Hazel.

My heart thumped wildly against my ribcage with each step that I took towards the Gamma's wing.Heaving a deep sigh, I knocked on the wooden mahogany door.It clicked open and there she was.I was speechless because I wasn't expecting Hazel to be the one opening the door.

I had thought that perhaps it would be her mother. All the words that I had rehearsed to tell her on my way here vanished.I awkwardly scratched my head as though doing so would help me remember.

"How can I help you?"She asked, and by the look on her face, I could tell that she was still mad at me. I took a deep breath to calm down my racing heart.

"I would like us to talk things out, Hazel."I said and she was quiet.

"I'm busy with the ladies now. I believe whatever you want to talk to me about can wait."She said nonchalantly. Her words were like a thousand silver daggers piercing my heart at at once.

"I would like us to talk about it now, Hazel. I know I wronged you and I regret it.Can you give me a chance to make it up to you?"I held my breath, waiting for her response.

She closed the door and walked passed me without saying a word.Even though she was quiet as we walked down the hallway,I'm glad that she is willing to give me a chance.Hazel opened the door of our room and walked in, leaving the door open for me to enter.I walked inside our room and closed the door behind me.

HazeI pretended as though I didn't entirely exist. She walked to the window and looked in the distance. I walked to Hazel and stood behind her, leaving some distance between us.

"I know I did wrong for not informing you."I crossed the distance between us and wrapped my hands around Hazel.I rested my palms on the baby bump, rubbing it gently and I felt the baby's kick and I smiled.

"I don't like it when we fight,Hazel.I will make sure that it won't happen again."I paused and heaved a slow sigh.

"It hurts me when you think that I don't care about you.It hurts even more when you think that you are not that important to me,Hazel.I want you to know that I care about our babies and you so much. I'm sorry."I said it again. I don't care if I have to say it a thousand and one times. All I care about is for Hazel and I to be on good terms again.

There comes a time when you need to put your pride aside and this is the time. I want to make everything right with Hazel and be there for her as she goes through the changes that come with being pregnant.

She turned around and looked at me, "It hurts me too when we fight, Luciano. But what hurts me is when you break your promise over and over again. What is the need of making a promise when you know fucking well that you won't keep it?"She asked and I saw tears in her eyes.

"It hurts me too,Hazel. That's why I want us to patch things. I will try to keep it this time."I assured her but she was quiet.I know she didn't trust me because I had broken it twice. I need to earn her trust back.

Tears flowed down her cheeks and I wiped it away using my bare hands but it couldn't stop flowing.

Hazel leaned for more of my touch and there was no doubt she was longing for my touch as much as I longed for hers….
