Chapter 264 - Clues

Anastasia.

All three of them started investigating Dad's murder. They found out some information regarding it and tomorrow we’ll be heading towards my pack, the home I had left long ago, then home which I can no longer call mine.

“Are you sure that she can prove herself innocent? If not, we need to consider your request,” Nikolai’s mom stated. “I can’t believe she can do that. She’s making up stories to win your sympathy that’s all.”

I stood outside their door so that I could hear their voices easily. I didn’t plan to eavesdrop, but I wanted to call them over for dinner.

Little did I know, they were talking about me.

“That’s not true, even you know that right?” Nikolai pleaded.

“Who knows? I can’t believe her so easily!”

“Are you really going over to that pack tomorrow?” their dad asked. “I’d recommend you give up on her. You are going there in vain. The Alpha’s death was long ago. How can you find out about it now? Just forget about her, and we can decide matchmakings for you all.”

“That’s never going to happen!” Leon interrupted. “She’s our mate. And she’ll be the only Luna of this pack. You can’t do anything about it. Stop trying in vain.”

“You can only talk this big after proving your point. Leave now, I don’t want to discuss her anymore.”

I tried to leave in a hurry and hid behind the wall.

I saw them leaving past me one by one.

“Thank god they didn’t see me.”

“Who didn’t see who?” a voice behind me comments.

I turned around to see all three of them standing.

“You three? When did you get here? Didn’t you leave just now?”

“We did, but why did you stay outside the door if you had something to say to Mom and Dad?” Sebastian asked.

“You are wrong, I only went to call for dinner. You all seemed busy, so I didn’t go inside. But, how could you tell it was me?”

“By your scent,” Leon replied. “It was quite strong, so it was easy to trace you out.”

What do I even smell like?

“Anyway, go to bed early. We have to leave early to reach there,” Nikolai said, caressing my shoulder.

I nodded. “Hope we can resolve the matter in one day and come back.”

“We are hoping that as well,” Sebastian replied with confidence. “And don’t worry. I’m with you all. It’ll all work out as planned.”

Suddenly, my happiness and future are intertwined with theirs as well. So, we have to make it work out. In any possible way.

That night when I went to bed, I couldn’t sleep. I looked at the moon through the window, and my heart filled with warmth recalling their faces.

“Are you busy?” a voice called from outside the door, drawing my attention.

Before I could say anything. The door opened and someone came inside. My room was all dark so I couldn’t see the face clearly.

“Who’s there?” I asked, standing next to the window. “How did you come inside? The door was locked, wasn’t it?”

“This used to be my secret room when I was a child. So, I knew how to open this easily even with locks. But, when you started living in it, I didn’t try to break inside even though I could,” the voice replied, walking over to my side.

When he came closer to the window, I could see his face clearly through the faint light of the moon that entered my room.

It was Leon.

“You could break inside my room and choose not to do that?” I asked in confusion. “Why?”

“Cause I respect your privacy and personal space,” he replied, scooting closer to me until our shoulders brushed against each other.

“You do? Then why did you come here at this time?” I asked, looking into his face.

“Cause I want to be a part of your personal space,” he replied, wrapping his arm over my shoulder, and pulling me close to him till our faces were a few inches apart. “I want to be with you 24/7 and I don’t want to leave you alone.”

“Uh….are you being considerate towards me by any chance?”

He denied it right away, “No! It’s my true wish. You have any problem with it?”

“You are too close, get away!” I tried to push him away but he instead caught my hand and pinned me against the window.

His fingers locked with mine as he gazed into my eyes.

“Y-you….are so assertive today. What’s the matter?”

“Why? Can’t you tell?” he whispered, inching closer.

“Uh, n-no?”

His eyes traced my lips up and down. “You must be quite stupid not to be able to tell that.” His voice sounded so sexy even though he was insulting me.

I wanted to get back at him.

“I’m not stupid, you are underestimating me,” I replied, kissing him before he could, taking him by surprise.

When I broke the kiss he looked at me with a flustered expression.

And it filled my heart with contentment.

“Sorry for disturbing you at this hour. Are you awake?” a voice barged in through the door, making us both freeze in our spots.

“Huh? When did Leon get here?” Sebastian complained in the dark even though I couldn’t see his face.

“Maybe we were too late,” Nikolai added heaving an exasperated sigh.

Leon clicked his tongue out of irritation. “I didn’t think they would show up so fast.” He murmured underneath his voice.

He knew they were going to come? And what are they doing in my room at this hour?

“You can’t do this Leon, sneaking on us like this,” Sebastian added, standing right behind him. “Aren’t we on the same team? You can’t take away our prize in front of us so easily.”

“We were just getting to the good part. Why did you have to interfere like that?” Leon grunted, removing his hands from my wrists.

“And who gave you the permission to enter her room at this time like that?” Nikolai asked with a poker face.

Leon smirked in response. “I have all the permission to do that. Why are you questioning me?”

“Did she give you the permission herself?” Sebastian asked, securing his hand around my waist carefully.

“Yeah, she did, didn’t you?” Leon asked turning to me.

Why are you asking me? I don’t remember giving that sort of permission.

“It’s suddenly so hot in here with so many people inside. It was better with the two of us,” Leon added, putting his hands in the pockets of his sweatpants.

“You don’t get to decide that,” Nikolai retorted.

“Why are you all here suddenly? Is anything the matter?” I asked out of curiosity.

They all looked at me at the same time.

Did I ask something wrong?

“There have been some suspicious activities on your pack lately. I have information on your mom and uncle,” Sebastian replied with a serious face.

What did he say? “My mom….and uncle?”
