Chapter 255 - More important to him

Anastasia.

“Sounds quite troublesome,” I replied, listening to his entire story.

“Yeah, she’s a lot more troublesome than you think she is,” he grunted turning to me. “Did she try to hurt you again?”

“Uh, no. Thanks for worrying.”

“You should stay away from her. She’s dangerous cause she’s highly stubborn. She can go to any extent to achieve her objective.”

“Why do you worry so much about me?” I asked without thinking.

My question made him look at me with a confused look. He tried to speak up but was hesitant.

He refrained himself, “Who knows? I don’t know myself.”

“That’s not the answer…..” I mumbled.

“Maybe because…..you are important to me,” he mumbled low.0

“What?”

“Nothing, I’ve work to do. And stay away from her like I said,” he grunted, walking from there in a hurry.

Am I important to him? What did he try to mean by that? And why was he blushing a bit before walking away?

I was outside cleaning when I saw Nina coming out of the kitchen looking all stressed.

“Did you look at the state the kitchen was in?” Julie asked, sighing in worry standing in front of me.

“No, probably a bit mess? Who’s going to clean that all up?”

“I don’t know. It’s already afternoon, and the lunch isn’t prepared yet.”

“Why? Didn’t she prepare lunch? What happened to the food?”

“It’s all charred and smokey. You can’t call that food.”

“I left some food in the freezer from the morning. I’ll heat that for others to eat.”

“Oh, that’s so helpful.”

Leon came down to eat and Nina went upstairs and called Nikolai to eat downstairs to eat.

He looked quite troubled as he came downstairs accompanying her.

“Sit down, I’ll bring the food,” she said to him with quite excitement.

He sat down, and I watched from sideways.

She brought out bowls of food and arranged it all on a plate for him to eat. But, none of it was delicious, instead looked like pieces of scrap.

I feel sorry for him.

“Start eating,” she said, sitting right across him.

Leon sat next to him and looked at the food with a bland expression.

He glanced down at the food and his face filled with worry.

“I’m really not hungry, can I skip the meal?” Nikolai requested.

She became saddened. “What? You aren’t hungry? Even though I prepared all this for you?”

He nodded, “Yeah, I’m sorry. Excuse me!”

He got up from his seat about to leave.

“Hey, please. Don’t go,” she pleaded but he didn’t listen to her.

A few minutes later after she left the kitchen I heated the food and went to give it to his room and called Leon to have food in his room as well.

When I came downstairs I saw her sitting on the couch.

I was passing by the spot when she called behind me, “You are so full of yourself, aren’t you?”

“What do you mean by that?” I asked, turning to her.

“How about we have a friendly competition?” she added, standing up on her feet.

“Like what? And why me?”

“We’ll ride horses. Whoever comes back fast in the race will be the winner. How does that sound?”

“Sounds fair but why me–“

“Alright, Nikolai and Leon will be the judges. I’ll go and call them.”

“you aren’t listening. Can you ride a horse wearing that skirt?”

“Worry about yourself.”

Is she right in the head? I’m worried for her.

We arrived in front of the horse stable. I wore a jeans and top cause it’s hard to ride one with my uniform.

“Why the race suddenly?” Nikolai asked Nina.

“You even dragged us into it. What do you want?” Leon grunted.

“Be the spectator. I want to watch myself beat her!” Nina stated confidently.

“Why’s she your competition suddenly?” Nikolai asked.

“Cause I want to compete,” she replied, standing next to Sebastian’s horse. “We’ll start on your count.”

Nikolai sighed, looking in my direction. As if apologizing for her troubles.

“I’ll count then,” Leon interrupted. “three, two, one, go!”

I rode on silver and the race started. But she was the last one to take off. I didn’t understand what she was trying to do.

When she caught up to me, I noticed she looked a bit pissed off.

What is she angry about?

This is my first time riding on my own. I hope I’ll be fine. I believe in you, Silver.

Don’t disappoint me.

All of a sudden, her horse came in front of me. Silver was surprised and lost his balance and fell with me on his back.

I made contact with the ground, hitting my leg with a thud sound. I fell on my face, and I felt the pain on my forehead, losing my vision.

But, before I lost consciousness I saw Nina standing in front of me with a smile on her face. It was quite proud and evil.

Why was….she smiling?

When I gained my consciousness I was being carried on someone’s back. Before I could realize whose back it was the pain in my head made me faint again.

I opened my eyes hearing faint voices beside me.

I saw the ceiling before my eyes. I looked around to see Nina standing in front of Nikolai a bit away from me in the same room.

Did I break my bone? Why was I lying down?

“How can you allow her to sleep in your room? She’s nothing but a maid regardless of her identity.” She yelled in protest.

“She’s wounded, and unconscious. Don’t make it sound dirty. I beg of you!” he pleaded.

“I’m only stating the truth! Why does she have to be treated in your room? She has her room as well, right? Then, why your room? You even carried her on your back! Why worry so much for an outsider?!”

“For god's sake! Don’t call her an outsider!” he yelled. “She’s more than just an outsider.”

“And what’s that supposed to mean? Is she more important to you than me? Just who does she mean to you?” she retorted.

He fisted his hands going silent.

“Why aren’t you speaking? Is she more important to you than me? Why do you worry just because she’s wounded a little? She’ll heal after a bit of rest. Won’t she?”

“Yes, she’s more important to me than you. Did you hear it clearly?” he scoffed, looking into her face.
