Chapter 252 - Her anger
Anastasia
“Love huh? Instead of love, you could call it some sort of obsession,” he responded calmly. “She was my crush, I admired her a lot. Because she was socially active. Everyone around her liked her a lot for her leadership skills. Before I knew it, we got into a relationship. It still baffles me to this day.”
“Did she love you? Or was it a one-sided love on your part?”
His face became saddened suddenly.
“If she really loved me, she couldn’t abandon me without saying anything. That’s why, I can say, she never loved me truly and was only immersed in herself. Like she had always been.”
“Then, you don’t want to give your relationship a second chance?”
“I probably don’t, and I’m confident about it.”
“Then, why don’t you say it in her face–wait, you did deny her advances. How can we make her leave you alone?”
“And that’s the help I’m asking for,” his shoulders dropped low. “Get her out of this house. She’s going to be bugging us for a while otherwise. She always does everything she wants to. You can’t stop her unless she succeeds.”
Sounds like a pesky bug.
“Well, I’ll try my best to make her leave. You can rely on me!” I said with confidence.
“I’m counting on you then,” he replied, “Use whatever methods you can to make her leave.”
“Won’t you have lunch downstairs too? Or shall I bring the food to your room?”
“I don’t mind it. But, she’ll definitely disturb me if I do that,” he asserts. “I’m going to eat in my room. Bring the food when it’s time for lunch. I’ll be doing some work in the meantime.”
“Uh, sure.”
Before I closed the door, I looked back at him.
He seems greatly affected by her presence. Maybe it reminds him of how she left him hanging.
I need to make him happy like before, and that is, by kicking her out.
You can do this, Anastasia!
I went to check up on Sebastian so I could ask for help but he had already left for work.
Leon was in his room, but I knew he wasn’t going to help out in this case.
And I don’t want to bother him while working.
When I went downstairs I saw Nina standing at the foot of the stairs.
She looked at me with a pissed-off look.
What did I do to offend her now?
“Where did you go with the tray of food in hand?” she asked, standing in front of me.
“I’m not obliged to answer you that, you aren’t from the family after all.”
She glared in anger. “You sure have a sharp tongue for a maid. Where did you get that attitude from?”
“From….my mother I guess? She has a sharp tongue.” I replied smiling. “But, your bad attitude seems to be a personality disorder. You should go see a doctor to fix it, along with your nose as well.”
She was astonished beyond words. “My nose? How dare you insult me about my looks? Do you know who I am? What my family is like?”
“I dunno must be a hypocrite like you. Can’t expect anything from bad genes after all.”
“How dare you insult my parents like that!” she yelled, raising her hand towards me.
I closed my eyes shut out of response.
But, her hand didn’t make contact with my face.
“Don’t you think you are taking out your anger on the wrong person?” a voice called, making me snap open my eyes.
Before I realized Leon stood in front of me. He held onto Nina’s hand so he wouldn’t be able to slap me.
Wasn’t he in his room? When did he get here so fast?
Nina became even more angry. “Let go of my hand! And what do you care whether I take out my anger on her or not? She’s nothing but a maid with a sharp tongue. This is the time that I ought to teach her some manners.”
“Instead of trying to teach her manners. You should reflect on your manners yourself,” he replied, pushing her away. “In the future, if you raise your hand against her in this house, I’ll be the first one to stand in front of you. Remember that.”
She looked at him in disbelief.
Leon….he thinks so much about me. He’s so sweet.
“And, I won’t go easy on you just because you are a woman. You don’t have the right to hit anyone you want here. You can do that in your house.”
“Why are you acting that way because of some maid?” she mumbled. “Just who is she? Some princess from a pack or what?”
“You got it right,” Leon replied. “She used to belong to the Ravens pack as the previous princess, which has an alliance with us. But, now that she’s exiled she lives here with us.”
“What? Is this true? When did that happen?”
“It happened while you were away from your country,” he responded coldly. “So many things happened but you weren’t aware of, them because you weren’t present. And that’s your fault.”
She fisted her hands, with her eyes widened and jaw that hung loose.
“Even you….you would blame me for everything? None of you try to understand why I left him, left my home. It was for my passion, for my career. Not on purpose.”
“You had cut off all contact with him. Don’t you think that’s a bit ruthless even for you?” he retorted. “If you were in his position how would you feel? Would you be happy if he did the same thing to you, and then came back to claim the old position? You wouldn’t, definitely.”
“That’s…..” she didn’t have any words to defend herself.
I thought that would make her leave voluntarily, but that didn’t happen.
“He has moved on from you long ago. Stop trying to scratch open old wounds. It would only make life more painful than it already is,” he added, adverting his gaze.
She paused for a second before replying, “I’m still not convinced he has moved on from me so easily. I’ll stick around till my doubts have gone away completely.”
“And how long is that going to take?”
“I came here today only. I’m going to stay for 1-2 more days to confirm everything with my very own eyes.”
“Your optimistic spirit is the only thing I have to praise you for,” he added, walking away. “Good luck with it I guess? But, remember my warning.”
