Chapter 187
Konstantin:
“Everything is going to be over very soon.” I said, looking at Vladimir who nodded.
“Indeed. However it may end, I will be sure that things take the path that we chose.” My nephew said, and though I stayed quiet, I was forced to stop myself from scoffing. I needed his loyalty to be mine, and sometimes, I doubted that it was.
“You are going to be killing Killian. It is going to be the one way that his reign ends. While Eleanor may have lost the child, it does not mean that he might not have more. I do not want that to be a matter of…”
“The two of us already discussed the matter, and with Killian’s death, we are going to gain the power that we lost. We are just going to need to be careful. You know, he has his men swarming around the corner. One wrong word, sound, or even tone, and these wolves are going to be more than willing to tear everyone down.” He said, stopping me. “I am going to take charge of killing him. It is going to be in your office where they cannot hear us. Your men are going to be outside the door. It is going to ensure that things are going to go according to plan.”
“Do you believe that it is going to work? That you can kill him?”
“You will be seeing it yourself.” Vladimir said, looking me dead in the eye. I nodded as the door opened, and I wasn’t dumb, I knew that it marked the Alpha’s arrival. The man who had stopped our trades, our businesses without his guard, and has had his eye on so many things for years. Little did he know, things have been going, under the loop. He just didn’t know how much he has lost as opportunities.
“Good, and when that is done, you are going to be getting a hefty surprise from me. I am sure that you are going to be pleased by it.”
One of my men knocked on the door, and when I saw the door opening, revealing the Pakhan, I took a deep breath. The night was going to be his last. And then I was going to be sure to make them pay for what they have taken from me. Just as his father had claimed his mother from me years ago, I will be claiming his wife. It would be enough to justify for pay back. Vladimir will have the woman that he wanted to be with. The woman that he got shot for.
The man walked inside the office and sat on the chair, not even bothering to wait to be greeted. He didn’t need to anyway.
Vladimir stood, not bothering to sit, and I watched them in silence as they looked at one another.
“I can see why you chose the other side, Vladimir.” He said, looking at the man who was once his right hand. “If you can get all these men to serve you, why would you be working to serve?”
“I doubt that this is why you came here, Alpha.” Vladimir said, and Killian scoffed.
“In my grounds, it is not Alpha, it is Killian or Pakhan. As the two of you may know, this is not your wolf grounds.” I said, looking at the two of them.
“And yet, you have a wolf, a beta, who is now a rogue within your grounds. Had I been another Alpha, I would have had his head. It is only for his mother who had begged me to keep him alive that I did. It was a shame for her to hear that her own brother has been keeping her son alive, within his home. I am curious, though, how did you do it? Is it one of your other games, Konstantin?” Killian asked, keeping his eyes on Vladimir. “Because I doubt that you would have come to save him easily.”
“You mistake me for your own kind. I am neither a wolf, nor do I possess the ability to keep myself…”
“As said, these are not wolf grounds for us to be discussing such matters. But considering that you have called me, I believe that there is something that you wanted to tell me.” Killian said, turning his attention back to Vladimir.
“You have been placing your men within the Estate, our business auctions, and they have been sabotaging most of our moves.” Vladimir said, and Killian scoffed.
“One must keep an eye on those who might rebel. And I have to admit, while I was waiting for the right time, you two know very well that I am more than willing to kill those who defy me. It seems to me that you will be joining your new boss this evening. I would have wanted you to say goodbye to your mother. But I believe that she is going to understand my reasons.” Killian said, calmly.
“I don’t think that you expect me to allow you to walk out of this room alive, do you, Killian?” Vladimir asked, and Killian scoffed. I watched as my nephew pulled his gun out of his holster, and loading it, he pointed it at his former boss and Alpha. I held my own gun, careful at the man’s attitude. I knew to never trust a man with a gun until I was sure of him.
“There are fifty men outside this estate, and twenty within, do you really expect them to miss this, Vladimir?” Killian asked. “Put the gun down if you wish to get out of this place alive.”
“Oh, I will be leaving it alive.” He said, looking at Killian. “But this time, I am going to be the boss.”
He pressed the trigger, and my eyes widened as I saw the bullet piercing Killian’s chest. His eyes widened in surprise as he looked down at the wound, and it wasn’t until his hands loosened and his head dropped that I processed what was going on. I got up from my desk and walked toward him, my heart racing as I grew excited.
“He is dead?” I asked, looking at the man for a moment. “You actually killed him.”
Vladimir took a step back, watching as I approached Killian. “You really pressed that fucking trigger.”
“I did tell him, I am going to get out of this being boss.” He said, and I frowned as I caught sight of his reflection as he held his gun at me. I went to turn, wanting to shoot him only for my eyes to widen as I felt the bullet on my own chest. I looked down at it for a moment and he smirked as he approached me.
“You underestimated me, Konstantin,” he said, grabbing me by my chin, forcing my eyes on his. “You all did.”
He put the gun on my head before whispering ONE last sentence.
“This is for Elena…”
