Book Two- Her Alpha Savior- Chapter Thirty
Chapter Thirty

Josephine

When I roam around my new room, I notice on each side of the bed is a side table with a small lamp on each side table and there is a clock on top of one side table and across from the foot of the bed is a huge dresser with a mirror on top which I am going to make for my pajamas and my undergarments.

I walk a little further into the room and come to a door on the other side of the room and when I open the door, I see that it's a closet. It’s huge with so many rows of shelves. I’m guessing for shoes and whatever else could go there, I’m not sure what I would ever fill it with, I don’t own very much stuff.

I walk back out to the main part of the room, and I see another door, when I walk over to that door, I open it up to find a huge bathroom with a massive soaker tub and a shower stall at one end of the tub and a small room with a door to the toilet. I look to the bathroom sink, and I see a nice size sink with a vanity area next to the sink. This room is amazing. I think I am going to really like it here.

I make my way back out of the bathroom and make my way to the bed, I feel the need to rest for just a little while before dinner. I lay down on the big comfy bed and burrow into the pillows I have never felt anything so comfortable. This bed is like laying on a cloud and the blankets are so soft and fluffy; I feel like I am laying in a bed of feather or something. Before I have time to really think about anything else I begin to realize I’m drifting off to sleep dreaming of the kiss Max and I shared just a little while ago.

When I wake up a while later, I wake with a start and try to remember everything that happened and when. I look around and realize I am in my new room at the packhouse, I start to calm down and begin to feel safe again. Then I remember the kiss Max and I shared from earlier and I can’t keep the smile off my face. I can’t believe Max would kiss me, it was so sweet, his lips were so soft, and the kiss was everything I was hoping my first kiss would be like.

When I realize that I am in the pack house and I gather my wits about me, I realize that I need to get up and get myself put together so I can head downstairs for dinner. I don’t want to be late or miss out on my first night here. I need to make a good impression and I need to make sure that the other pack members don’t think badly of me. I need to find a way to contribute around here. Maybe Max will let me cook occasionally or help with chores or something.

Once I am dressed and presentable, I make my way downstairs to the kitchen and when I walk in I see a few people milling about and I see a few Omegas cleaning dishes and there is a couple others finishing up dinner and when I look over to the table I see Tiffany sitting in the chair right next to where Max is supposed to sit. I know from being here before that the chair at the head of the table is for the Alpha and the one just to the right is for the Luna, then of the left of that chair is for Max, but then I look one more to the left and there she is. Right there. She notices me looking over at her and she gives me a smug look like she belongs there and there is nothing I can do about it. I don’t want to cause any extra drama or tension in the packhouse, so I just turn around to walk over the Omegas doing the cooking and washing and introduce myself.

“Hey there, I’m Josephine.”

A girl at the sink drying a plate turns to look at me and gives me a genuine smile.

“Hi! Welcome. I’m Ariel and this is Becky.”

The other girl turns to me and gives me a smile too, but I feel like it’s not as genuine as Ariel’s smile. But I continue on anyway.

“Hi. Nice to meet you both. DO you need any help with anything?”

“Oh no! don’t worry about its Lu- I mean Josephine. You can just sit down and relax if you like.”

There is that slip up again. First it was Max at the hospital yesterday and now Ariel. What is going on? I don’t want to sit at the table with Tiffany being there, she will just find some way to make me feel worse about myself. I need to be over here with Ariel.

“Please, Call me Josie. All my friends do.”

I glance over at Becky, and she just rolls her eyes and turns back to washing the dishes. What is her problem. I just got here, and she already seems to not like me.

You need to put her in her place. Don’t let anyone push you around.

My wolf reminds me that I need to stand up for myself, but I just moved into the packhouse, I don’t want to cause any problems. I will continue to try and be nice and polite to everyone, but if she keeps this up, I’ll have to mention it to Max.

“Please Ariel, let me help with something, I know I just moved into the packhouse, but I want to feel useful. Please give me something to do.”

She giggles a little at my plea to help with anything. She looks around for a minute then turns back to me and gives me a follow me motion and I follow her over to walk looks like a closet. She pulls the door open and when we walk inside, I am met with so much different foods and snacks I don’t know what to take in first.

“Here we go, you can help put together a desert for after dinner.”

She pulls out a bunch of different ingredients, she grabs three boxes of vanilla pudding, two boxes of vanilla cookies, a couple bunches of bananas and cocks her head to the side and tells me to follow her back out to the main kitchen. She puts everything down on the counter then walks to a drawer and pulls out a giant bowl, a hand mixer and then walks to the fridge and pulls out a gallon on milk.

“You know what all this is for?”

I nod my head enthusiastically and tell her I know exactly what to do with all this. Especially because it is my favorite dessert to make, even though I don’t get to make it very often since I am the only one in my household that likes it. My parents would never let me have anything special. I used to get it all the time when I was a kid, but over the last couple years it all stopped.

“Okay then. Here is a casserole dish for the finished product, when your done mixing everything just put it in the fridge and let it set. It should be done by the time everyone is done eating.”

“Okay. I can do that.”

I then turn to the ingredients in front of me and I get to work with a smile on my face. As I am putting everything together, I heal giggles and low chatter and I can feel eyes on me, and I know it’s Tiffany and her group making fun of me. I know she was surprised to hear that I made it through my attack, and I feel like she had something to do with it, but I don’t have any proof, I wish I knew who attacked me that night at the football field.

When I am so lost in my thoughts and thinking about what happen that night and trying to focus on the dessert, I’m making I don’t even notice that someone came up behind me until I feel the tingles run along my spine and I don’t even need to turn around to see who it is. I already know the person who is responsible.
