Chapter Twenty-Nine

I look at her with the same look of confusion and tell her about how I had the tingly feeling in the back of my mind and how I felt tingles in my hand just before I woke up this morning.

“Well, that explains things then. I think those feelings your feeling might be your wolf trying to come forth and make herself known. Just give her another day or two and you should hear from her very soon. In the meantime, I don’t see any reason to keep you here any longer so I guess we can let you go home. Will your parents be coming to fetch you?”

I know my parents won’t come to get me and I know that if they did, I may end up back here tomorrow with the punishment I know they have in store for me when I get home, but before. I can say anything Max jumps in.

“No, she will actually be going home with me today, now that she is eighteen, we have a room for her at the packhouse, time to start her training and getting her ready for the duties she will need to learn for her future.”

The doctor manages to give him a nod and leave the room to fill out my discharge papers. Sarah tells me that she needs get going to check on her parents and has a few errands she needs to run for them, but she will come check on me later once I get settled in the pack house and see how things go for me there.

I look over to Max and give him a smile and he gives me one back, he sits back in the chair next to me and he begins to tell me about how the pack house is run and what it all entails, he tells me how I am going to be training to fight, so that I can defend myself if I need to.

The doctor comes back in with rules to follow for the next few days and Max, steps out to so I can change into my street clothes and when he comes back in, he grabs my bag from me, and we make our way out to his truck so we can go home to the packhouse. He also told me he would have a few omegas come to collect all my flowers and balloons and have them set up in my room for me.

When we make it to the packhouse, after stopping at a fast food place to grab a quick bite to eat not the way home, Max guides me inside and up the stairs to where my room is going to be.

“So, I have a room set up for you on the top floor, down the hall from me. -“

“But that is the Alpha quarters, I’m not an alpha, shouldn’t I at least be in the Omega quarters with everyone else?”

“No! I mean, no, it’s okay, really. You will be safer and feel more comfortable up here. I want to keep you close by in case you need anything.”

“It’s okay Max, really. I don’t mind being down with the Omegas, I’m not worthy to be in the Alpha quarters anyway. I don’t want to make any extra work for anyone. I don’t mind really.”

“Nope, my father said to make sure that you are up here with us. He…uh..would feel better about you being up here as well. So, you know how it is, Alpha’s orders.”

“Okay, I guess. If it’s alpha’s orders, I guess I need to abide by them then. So, which one is my room?”

“Right here, this one is yours, and mine is right there.”

He opens a door that I am guessing is mine since he just told me it’s here and the direction, he points to is right next door to my room. I can’t hide the smile that shows, knowing he is going to be right next door to me. I kind of like that. It could give me a chance to get to know him better.

Wait why does that excite me. He is the Alpha, it’s not like he is going to make me his Luna or anything, I am just a worthless, she-wolf. I’m not worthy of the Luna status. I probably don’t even have a mate out there anywhere. I am just going to be here for a few more weeks until I can get done with school and move on to another town. Sure, it would be nice to have a mate out there somewhere, but let’s face it, I am not worthy of anyone loving me.

“Where did you just go Josie?”

I quickly turn to Max when I hear him call my name and the concern, I see on his face makes me think about my response to his question.

“Nothing. I just really…appreciate you guys moving me into the packhouse. I’ll do everything I can to help out around here.”

“Don’t worry about it, it’s nothing, we do it with all the pack members that need a little extra help. Besides, I’m looking forward to you being around here more.”

Is he flirting with me? He can’t be. I’m not pretty enough or good enough for an Alpha’s attention like this. What do I say to his response?

“Um..yea. I Um..yea. I guess so.”

“Come on Josie, you don’t think it could be fun to hang out a little more and get to know each other a little better?”

“Yea, I guess it could be fun to hang out more.”

He says all this while taking small steps closer and I feel my breath hitch at his closeness and when we look into each other’s eye’s I feel that tingle in the back of my mind again and I hear a bit of… whining maybe, I can’t quite make out the exact sound I hear. Then I feel the tingles along my arm again and when I look down at the feeling I see that Max is lightly brushing his fingertips along my arm. And when I look back up to him and meet his eyes, he has a smile on his face.

“You feel that don’t you?”

“I feel something, but I’m not sure exactly what it means.”

He steps even closer, and I can smell a very faint hint of…cinnamon? And apples, maybe. What I can smell, smells amazing. I want to take a deep breath and catch as much as I can. When I close my eyes and try to take a deeper breath Max seems to notice and he releases a small chuckle. When I look back at him and meet his eyes, I can feel the blush reach up my neck and I smile right back at him.

“If you think about what you’re feeling hard enough, it will come to you about what it means.”

He takes another step closer; he is close enough that I can feel the warmth of his body heat against mine and I feel my breath catch.

“Josie, I don’t want to freak you out or anything, but I can’t help the feeling of wanting to kiss you right now.”

“Um..uh huh.”

What is wrong with me. Why can’t I get words to form and come out of my mouth. But what’s more important is why does he want to kiss me? What makes me so great that makes him want to kiss me?

“Can I Josie? Can I kiss you?”

I can’t seem to get words to form so all I can do is nod in response to his question. Then before I can do anything else I feel his lips on mine and it takes me a moment to understand what is going on, then I feel my hands going up his chest and wrap around his neck and my fingers slide into his hair and I hear a growl come out of his chest and I can’t help the smile while I’m kissing him back and then I feel his hands slide down to my hips and back behind me and they move lower and then I feel his hand grip my ass and squeeze firmly. I can’t keep the moan inside anymore.

When I feel him pull away, I feel the coldness from the lack of his body heat against me and I have the urge to pull him back against me again.

“I think we should stop before things get to heated.”

“Yea. I think so. We should probably take this slow. Especially since we don’t really know each other very well but I am looking forward to getting to know you better.”

“Yea. Well, I better let you get settled but I would love you take you out sometime for dinner.”

“Oh, yea. Sure. I would like that.”

“Okay, cool. Well, I’m going to go then and let you get settled.”

He releases a laugh and walks to the door and opens it. He then turns back to me and gives me a smile and wave.

I smile back with a wave and when he shuts the door with him on the outside, I turn to fully take in my new room and I can’t help but smile and the purple and white bed set that is draped over a queen-sized bed with a ton of purple, lavender and white decorative pillows.
