Chapter 68 Ezekiel
EZEKIEL
A lot of attacks have been happening in lower packs. Many werewolves are losing their wolves and I believe it's the work of the witches. Something like this happened a hundred years ago when the witches were thirsty for power. But not exactly like this. They didn't lose their wolves, rather their wolves were weakened because the witches were trapping their powers to make themselves strong. That was when Selene intervened. She used her daughters of light to wipe away the witches’ existence. Well, she thought she did. Those bitches still exist.
All these were happening together with the devils attack. I was not in support of Selene killing the whole witch clan. Not all of them were evil. Just a few and a lot of damage was not being done to the werewolves. They still recovered their strength because the powers the witches took were just little.
Well, I thought she did that for our own benefit but she only did it for hers. Yes, the witches were thirsty for power, but the devils were becoming more powerful and doing more damage than the witches.
Selene killed the witches because she didn't want me to use the witches to stop the war because stopping the war will cost the life of her beloved daughters of lights. I found a way to stop the war and the witches were the only ones that can help make it work. Selene didn't kill them because she wanted to protect us. She killed them so I wouldn't use their help.
Fortunately, I saved Sabrina. A witch who wasn't part of the power thirst. With her help, I was able to stop the war. But Selene was furious because the price of stopping the war caused the death of her beloved daughters of light. The children she had with a man she loved so much. The children she loved more than us and was willing to watch us all die to protect them. She was ready to sacrifice millions rather than sacrificing ten.
Out of anger, she cursed me. She said that I could have been patient. That she would have found another solution that won't lead to her children's death, but I knew that was a lie. There was no other solution than that. An ancient sorcerer sacrificed his life to show me the solution. If he had been alive, I know he would help now.
The blood of the daughters of light and a powerful black magic was what was needed to lock the gate of hell. Which turned out it was just a temporary lock. But if nothing was done then, we would have all been dead. The devils had escaped hell and were causing a lot of chaos. There was no time to wait for Selene's solution which I believed wasn't coming anytime soon.
I hated Selene for what she did. I hated the fact that she was ready to watch us all die just to protect the children she bore for the man she loved. And now, she is still not doing anything. She just sent Dalia here with no proper guidance on what to do. She will never care. Well, I don't need her. Just like I found a solution years ago, I will do so again. Besides, I don't trust her and will never trust her.
I trust and believe Dalia not because of the mate bond, but I've seen that she's different from her mother. She cares about us. She's ready to do anything to protect the werewolves and lycans.
I had a meeting with the council as we tried to find a solution to the killings in the lower packs. I know these attacks won't end until the devils and the witches are stopped. But for the meantime we need to stop the ongoing attack and prepare for the future ones until a permanent solution is found.
I sent Aaron and Creigh to the lower packs with some warriors. While we find the solution to this, my sole priority is to protect my people. And the last thing I want is for them to start living in fear. The hellhounds haven't appeared again since the last time, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be vigilant. I thought they are the ones making the werewolves lose their wolves because they do that too, but they are not. The witches are up to something else.
I'm going back to the room where Sarah is when I meet Dalia on my way. I don't know why Sarah wanted to speak with her in private but I think she's being disturbed or being threatened by something or someone. And maybe it's the witch she said that's in my pack that's threatening her.
She feels Dalia is the only one she can trust. I don't know how much help Sarah will be to us, but I hope she will be of much help. I believe she will cooperate since we have her husband. She loves Jerald and I feel that she will choose Jerald over the witches.
“Zeke,” Dalia calls softly. I pull her into my arms and kiss her gently before hugging her. I need this. A lot is going on in my head and she's the only one that can calm it down.
“How did your talk with Sarah go?” I ask as I pull her from my chest and look into her tried eyes. She needs rest, but I know she won't rest if I tell her to. She's my stubborn spitfire who will always do what she wants.
“She said a lot.” she replied. “Let's go to your room.” We both walked to my room.
“Is she to be trusted?” I ask as we enter my room.
“Yes. She chose Jerald. She was even planning to betray the witches before Annika found her. That was why she ended up in the mental hospital. They threatened her with Samara's life and they are so wicked because they would have still killed Samara even if she decided not to betray them. Knowing that made her more determined to help us. She just asked for Samara and Jerald’s protection.” She replied. She wants to sit on the couch but I pull her to my thigh. She giggles and rests her head on my chest. I take in her scent, loving this moment. Amidst all the chaos, her presence is enough.
