Chapter 39 DALIA
DALIA
I go to the training ground to meet Leon. He's having a duel with one of the kids and he's winning. I'm glad he finally leaves his room, and decides to live his life. Although I'm not happy that I didn't find his mother's corpse. The poor boy deserves to at least see his mother one last time and say goodbye to her. He needs a tomb where he will visit during her death anniversary and offer her flowers.
And I will make it happen. That's the least I can do for him. Even though his mother is dead, I think I can find her using her personal belongings just like I'm planning to find Sarah. I've never done something like this before so I will use Sarah as an experimentation. If it works, then I can find Mrs. Adams. Of course, I won't tell Ezekiel. He will definitely try to stop me.
“Isn't he doing well.” I turn to see Dennis standing beside me. I'm watching the kids from a distance. I don't think any of them have noticed my presence.
“He is, but he's still hurting. I can feel it,” I reply, my eyes on Leon. He has finally knocked his opponent down and is now the winner. Other kids are cheering for him. Even though he's still young, I can see a great potential in him. He will be a great fighter in the future.
“Yes, I can see it. He's no longer the little boy I used to know. I just hope his wound will heal and he will go back to being himself.” Dennis chips in. “I heard the witch is dead. Was Mrs. Adams' corpse found.”
“Unfortunately, no.”
“That's a pity. At least seeing his mother for the last time will heal a part of him.”
“Yeah I know.” I murmur. I just feel so bad for that poor boy. I still haven't told Ezekiel what Leon said about his mother's visits to the Dark Valley Pack. That was how the witch found her and used her as her prey. I wonder why she always visits the Dark Valley Pack. There must definitely be a reason.
“The kids have been talking about how great you are.”
I chuckle a bit. “I only show them a few fighting moves."
“And you burned a spear too.”
“Yeah that too.” I chortle. “I can't believe they haven't forgotten about that.”
“They talk about that everyday.” He chuckles .”They keep asking me if you are truly the goddess daughter and if you have super powers. Some are asking if you will be their hero if war breaks out.”
I break into laughter. Kids are really funny. I wonder what they think a hero is.
“They have been training nonstop saying they want to fight alongside the goddess daughter if war comes.”
“They are really adorable.” I snicker.
I'm glad that the news of the possibility that war might break out anytime didn't scare the pack members. Rather, it seems they are ever ready for it.
“You know I want to witness that power of yours they talk about. Let's have a duel.”
“You don't want your ass kicked, do you?”
“Maybe I will be the one to kick yours.” He winks at me.
“I really don't want to embarrass you in front of your kids.” I tease. “I'm stronger than you think.”
“Well we're gonna see about that. And don't worry, the kids won't see when I kick their super hero ass. They are busy down there.”
“Looks like someone is being too full of themselves already.” I chuckle.
He removes his shirt and throws it to the side. “We fight with our bare hands.”
I didn't know I was checking him out until I heard his voice. I quickly snap out of it and nod. Well, don't blame me. He really has a nice body and he is handsome too. I mean, any woman will check him out.
I haven't seen Ezekiel bare chest but I know he's hiding a great view behind those clothes. I shake my head to focus. Why am I thinking about that annoying asshole who's fighting himself not to accept the mate bond for a fucking reason known to him.
I know that now that I'm awake and probably didn't die, he will go back to being the asshole he is. Well, he cared in the first place because of the mate bond.
“Focus Dalia. You will take the offensive stance while I take the defensive stance.”
“Are you sure you wouldn't want the role to be reversed,” I say with a smirk and throw the first punch. He dodges it as he bounces to the other side.
I just want him to enjoy himself a little bit before I throw a better punch. He's not putting up any fight. He's definitely looking down on me and I'm itching to make him not look down on the goddess daughter.
“Bring it on, pretty.” He winks at me.
Is that a pet name?
I don't give it much thought as I decide to give him a Dalia's real punch to wipe that smirk off his face. I clench my fist as I throw a hard strike at him. He isn't expecting such a heavy punch which I know reset his brain for a moment.
The impact shifted his jaw slightly to the side and I hope he won't lose a tooth as blood flies out of his mouth. While he's trying to recover from the punch, I use the opportunity to flip him and blast him backwards as he hits the ground with a grunt.
I'm on top of him laughing at his state. I finally wipe the smirk off him and replace it with a painful groan.
He looks like he's not yet over the impact of the punch. He's still recovering. I stand up and hold my hand to him and help him stand on his feet.
“Fuck Dalia…” he curse, wiping the blood on his lips. “That was one hell of a punch. How did you manage to throw such a heavy punch with that little fist of yours.”
“I'm stronger than I look. So don't be deceived.” I snigger. “I just teach you a little lesson so you won't underestimate me again.”
“And I definitely learned my lesson.” He groaned and I laughed again.
“I really shouldn't have underestimated you.” He wants to smile but wince in pain.
His cheeks and jaw are slightly swollen and I start feeling guilty. I only use a bit of my power to throw that punch, I don't expect it to be this gruesome.
“I'm sorry, I really didn't expect it to turn out this way.”
“No, I called for it. I should have listened to you when you told me to take the defensive stance.”
I chuckle. “I mean it's not your fault. Anyone that sees my petite figure will do the same.”
“So decisive.” He winces again as he tries to chuckle.
“Let's go clean that up.”
He put on his shirt as we walked to the hospital. The nurses there already know who I am so they help me with a medical kit.
“I really made a mess here.” I murmur as I clean the blood and start applying ointment. “I just hope it won't ruin your handsome face.”
“So you think I'm handsome.”
My hand stops moving on his face as I realize what I just said. I bite my lower lips not knowing what to say. My eyes find his. And that look in his eyes, I've seen it in Ezekiel's eyes before.
Our faces are inch apart and I don't know what's going on in his head, but I know that I don't want him to kiss me. Yes, I find him attractive, but I don't feel any sexual attraction towards him.
He's slowly bringing his lips close to mine, but I quickly move away. I clear my throat and focus on the little cut on his lips.
I don't want this to feel awkward so I smile as I speak. “Of course you are handsome. Anyone with eyes will see that.”
“Dalia.” I heard Ezekiel's deep voice as I felt a chill run down my spine. I quickly moved away from Dennis. I look at Ezekiel, his eyes are flickering from green to red. He's enraged. I can clearly see it on his face.
I don't know why I have the urge to explain to him that nothing is going on. Yeah, we nearly kissed a few seconds ago but we didn't.
Well I don't owe him any explanation. It's not like he will proudly say to Dennis to stay away from me because I'm his mate.
I sit back down and pull Dennis — who stood the moment he noticed Ezekiel— with me as I continue to apply ointment on his cheeks. I haven't even done much when I feel a strong arm pull me away from Dennis and drag me away.
