Lilith pov

Flashback.

A few hours earlier, before the carnival.

"Beta Lilith! I can't wait to have fun today! I know this is going to be the best day ever!"

Lora's excited voice echoed through the room as Theila dragged her toward the door while Verya followed behind with an amused smile. The moment I agreed to attend the carnival, Lora had practically beamed with excitement, laughing as Theila pulled her out of the room.

I couldn't help smiling as I watched them leave.

Slowly, I rose from my chair to get ready but then—

"Lilith."

I froze.

"Drevena?"

For a moment, I thought I had imagined it. Something was different, her voice. The usual arrogance, mockery, and pride were gone. For once, she sounded anxious. Almost human, slowly, I sat back down.

"Drevena?" Concern slipped into my voice. "What is wrong?"

Several seconds passed before she finally spoke.

"Do you know why the Moon Goddess chose you to be my human?"

I blinked.

"What?"

"Out of every human in existence, why did she choose you to become my human?"

Confusion flickered across my face. Then the world shifted. The familiar golden throne appeared before me, and seated upon it was Drevena. For once, she wasn't smirking, mocking me, or looking down on me.

She simply sat there in silence.

"The Moon Goddess said your soul was beautiful." My heart skipped and Drevena laughed softly.

"The day she bound us together, she said our fates were destined to intertwine. She said you would change me."

A scoff escaped her.

"I laughed in her face."

Silence settled between us, then Drevena smiled.

A real smile.

It was warm and gentle and somehow, that terrified me more than anything.

"Now I understand." Her gaze softened. "I still am not as kind as you, and I doubt I ever will be. But now..." Her voice quieted. "I understand what it means to hold something precious."

"I understand what it means to love someone, to love them." My chest tightened. Something felt wrong, like I was witnessing a farewell of someone I would never see again.

"Drevena… is something going to happen?”

My voice trembled.

She simply smiled as she continued.

"I wanted to keep you safe. Even if it meant losing everything. Even if it meant losing them but but this isn't my choice to begin with"

Her gaze met mine.

"It's yours."

That was when she told me about the dagger, where it had been hidden in the packhouse, why the rogues had searched for it, why so many feared it, and what it truly was.

"A fragment of the Goddess's soul." The words echoed through me. "When activated, it grants power beyond imagination. No one has ever been able to fully bind with it and do you know why?"

I shook my head.

Her gaze lowered.

"Because to fully fuse with the dagger...you must be willing to sacrifice your soul. Lilith, you must be willing to be erased from existence itself”

End of flashback.

The battlefield returned.

The dagger remained in my hand while the storm raged overhead. No one spoke, no one moved, even the rogues stared at me with fear.

Samuel watched me for a long moment before realization dawned in his eyes and then came fear.

Real fear.

"You want to fuse with the golden dagger?" A disbelieving laugh escaped him. "You actually want to do it."

The storm roared above us.

"Not everyone can withstand the dagger," he said, locking eyes with me. "But you can." His jaw tightened.

"You survived binding with the goddess Wolf. If you fuse with that dagger, you will gain the power of the goddess herself,”

Then he stopped. A strange expression crossed his face as he stared at me if i was insane

"But at the end..." His voice dropped. “You don't die."

I slowly raised my head. I was still smiling, still crying. Samuel swallowed and finished.

"Your soul ceases to exist." The battlefield fell silent. "You will be erased from everyone's memories. There will never have been a Lilith in the first place, you will be nothing”

The wind screamed around us.

"No memories. No traces. No existence." Samuel took another step away from me, his body trembling.

I didn't answer because I already knew. I had already decided.

The dagger rose slowly in my hand.

Thunder surged overhead as lightning raced through the clouds, like the heavens themselves seemed to watch.

And then—I moved.

The realization hit everyone at once. The Alphas' eyes widened. Samuel's face drained of color and for the first time in my life, I heard true terror.

"LILITH!"

Claude's voice broke first.

"No!"

Silas lunged forward.

Lucien's composure shattered.

"Lilith, stop!"

But it was too late. I smiled and drove the dagger straight into my heart.

BOOM!

The world exploded.

Golden light erupted from my body with enough force to tear through the heavens. The earth cracked, the battlefield split apart, and the sky roared as unimaginable power flooded into me.

Blood spilled from my lips.

Something entered me.

Something ancient.

Something divine.

Something never meant for mortals.

An

d as the power of the moon goddess fused with my soul…the world went dark.
