Chapter 61 Celeste

Chapter 61 Celeste
Celeste's POV

“That virus-making organization seems like it's going to be hiding for a while,” Gamma Silas said. “They're truly unpredictable.”

“I suspect they’re being backed by someone powerful—someone with real influence in the business world. Someone who’s truly protecting them. If their boss were exposed, it would shock everyone,” Beta Dylan said seriously. He finally stopped underestimating the organization.

"They can't just be a bunch of people who hate rogues and want to exterminate them," Delta Giana said.

"I've known from the start that we couldn't underestimate them," I said, looking at each of them. "We know where they're hiding because they revealed it themselves. They were spying on Alpha Romeo and Luna Lyssera."

"They have five bases. One is already widely known. One is only known to rogue assassin groups." Gamma Silas counted on his fingers. "The other three bases remain a mystery."

“Unfortunately, before we could find out where their other base was, they cleared this base out without us expecting it,” Delta Giana sighed heavily as she leaned back against the sofa.

“No one ever thought that their headquarters would have a room in their basement because their headquarters, which many people know, is not much different from other office buildings,” said Beta Dylan, looking frustrated and surprised, even though he didn't want to admit it.

"They've been preparing to move to their other base for a long time, but neither our agents nor Alpha Yon and Alpha Greg realized it." I was both annoyed and amazed by them.

They were an organization that had only been around for about three years, but their members were so united and loyal.

“We won’t give up.” Gamma Silas shook his head, determination blazing in his eyes. “We will find them. We will find out who the mastermind behind that virus-creating organization is!” His clenched fists slammed against the coffee table.

“Of course, we can’t give up.” I nodded in agreement. “Sooner or later, we’ll uncover their secret. Nothing can hide from us.”

It wasn't just about preserving our reputation among clients and fellow rogue assassin groups. We were also curious about who was pulling the strings behind that conscienceless organization.

“Okay. Let's move on to another topic,” Beta Dylan said.

His face turned annoyed, but there was a disdainful smile on his lips. “There are more and more people searching for the rogue assassin group. They're challenging us to show ourselves. They're not afraid of death.”

"Most of those who join that organization just want to feel anxious and excited," Gamma Silas said, picking at a potato chip.

“They’re anxious, wondering if we’ll kill them, and at the same time excited, about whether they can fight us or if they’ll just freeze in terror.” Gamma Silas shook his head. Those people really were insane.

“I don’t know whether to be happy or upset. They use us as their adrenaline rush,” I said. “They don’t underestimate our strength, but they mock us for pretending not to know they’re looking for us.”

“Let’s just laugh at their stupidity and naivety.” Beta Dylan smiled crookedly. “We’d be the bad guys if we ruined their happiness and enthusiasm.”

"They're a bunch of people bored with their lives." Delta Giana smiled amusedly, as if she'd never considered her monotonous life. "We should be flattered. We're an interesting thing in their lives."

"I agree with you." Beta Dylan nodded.

I shuddered at the sound of Delta Giana and Beta Dylan's evil laughter.

"Those searching for lycans are joining forces with those hunting rogue groups," Gamma Silas said. "Looks like it's becoming a trend. People who have FOMO will flock to this organization."

"This is a challenge for us," I said, reminding them that we couldn't take this for granted.

"Some people searching for the lycan have passed through our base. They could be coming to our area again, and we mustn't let any of us encounter them," I added.

I want us all to pay closer attention to this matter, as luck isn't always on our side, and we could make a mistake.

“Yes, Alpha,” Gamma Silas said seriously. He never took any case lightly. “I’ve warned our assassins and agents to be extra careful when entering and leaving the base.”

Levi and I have been waiting for Liam at the playground for the past three days. I always pray to the Moon Goddess to protect us from those people because I don't want our prison to be filled with them.

I love talking about things with Beta Dylan, Gamma Silas, and Delta Giana.

Once the discussion was over and they left me alone in my office, exhaustion washed over me. Maybe it was because I talked too much while thinking, or because their words kept echoing in my mind.

“Alpha Eiden went to Alpha Jackson’s house yesterday afternoon,” Beta Dylan said, munching on potato chips. “Do you know what they were talking about? It seems like you guys are getting closer.”

My closeness with Alpha Eiden was something my members didn’t like. They were really worried about our presence being discovered by anyone other than the rogue assassins from other groups and the lycans.

“I don’t know. He didn’t tell me.” I shook my head. “He just video-called Liam yesterday afternoon.”

I wasn't lying. Alpha Eiden did call me yesterday afternoon, but he didn't tell me why he was meeting with Alpha Jackson.

"It seems Alpha Eiden has learned Alpha Jackson's secret and has made a new deal with him." Beta Dylan was certain of his assumption.

"A few days earlier, Alpha Eiden met with a rogue intel." Beta Dylan opened the box of donuts and handed them to me. He's been really into giving me donuts lately.

"Maybe you're right." I shrugged my shoulders as I took the cheese donut because Beta Dylan was looking at me like a little kid expecting his mom to taste his homemade food.

"I'd be relieved if that were true. My two sons and I wouldn't have to worry about Alpha Jackson sending his spy warriors to the rogue clan anymore," I said.

I felt uncomfortable with Beta Dylan's gaze. I slowly turned my face away, quickly eating the donut without chewing.

'He’s been acting strange the past two weeks,' my wolf said. 'His gaze on you has changed, and he’s not shy about touching you.' We had the same thought.

I reached into my pocket for my vibrating phone. Alpha Eiden was calling me. It was unusual for him to contact me so early in the afternoon, and he hadn’t texted me to see if I could answer the phone.

“Did you get a message or call from Alpha Eiden?” Beta Dylan asked with a cold stare. I didn’t know how long he’d grown to hate Alpha Eiden.

“Yes. I have to take this,” I said, standing up.

“You’re really getting closer to him,” Beta Dylan growled. I was surprised, raising an eyebrow.

“That shouldn’t have happened. I shouldn’t have let you stay at his house. I should have let Liam stay at his biological father’s house alone so he could accept him sooner.”

Beta Dylan remained sitting there. He said this with burning emotion in his chest. His eyes expressed anger, regret, and hurt.

I listened and stared at him in confusion. A second later, he explained why he said that, and I wished I'd known it sooner.

“I’m really good at lying, huh? You and the others didn’t notice. Only Benedict could sense it,” Beta Dylan said with a smug smile, though the truth was, he hated that fact.

He had been cursing everyone for a long time, myself included.

"I'm attracted to you. I love you. I let you become Alpha until Levi was ready to take over because I wanted you to be my superior. That way, I could see you often and control you."

I was shocked and frozen by his confession. I honestly couldn't believe his words.

I wanted to ignore it, but my wolf heard it too, and Beta Dylan sat there with a wide smile on his face, relieved to have told me.

"I won't pressure you for an answer today, tomorrow, or even the day after," Beta Dylan said. "Because I know you won't be able to escape me." He winked, and a cold shiver ran down my spine.
