Chapter 60 Eiden
Eiden's POV
This was the day I had been waiting for. I couldn’t wait to see Alpha Jackson’s annoying face turn into one of shock and desperation, because I was truly going to drag him to the edge with me.
No. I couldn't let Alpha Jackson tell the public that I had twins with my ex-girlfriend. While his assumption was completely wrong, the news would shock everyone, including the elders and my members.
Then the truth will slowly come out as people dig deeper.
Celeste told me she and her two sons were never ready to be known by many people, and it took Liam a long time to accept me.
There's no way I'm going to stop seeing Celeste, Liam, and Levi and only communicate on the phone until Liam accepts me as his biological father, and I declare him my heir.
I wouldn't let them down again.
Therefore, I would make a deal with Alpha Jackson because I was one hundred percent sure that the information I have about him is something he would not share with the public anytime soon.
It didn't matter that this deal was only valid for a few months. I wouldn't stop searching for information about Alpha Jackson that no one else knew. My spy warrior wouldn't give up either.
I stepped out of the car, my eyes instantly drawn to the black, single-story house with no fence, knee-high grass spreading around it. Warriors were stationed at every corner.
This wasn't the first time I'd visited his house. It still managed to make me frown, not understanding why he'd chosen black paint that contrasted with the green of the grass.
Still, I had to admit he was clever. The knee-high grass hid countless traps, and many spies had been caught the moment they stepped on a mine.
The path he's provided is the only way to reach his house.
"Alpha Eiden!" Alpha Jackson stood on the porch. He smiled broadly, his arms outstretched, inviting me to embrace him.
He pretended to forget that we were enemies when we weren't on the battlefield.
I approached him, putting on a lazy face to respond to his small talk.
“I’m so glad you came to my pack.” Alpha Jackson hugged me and patted my back gently. “I’ve always been the one coming to your pack.”
“I never invited you to my house.” I hissed.
He chuckled as he released his hold on me and grinned at my unfriendly face.
“Are you really tired from sitting for two hours at the Mountain Pack Clan border office?” He didn't care about me; he was just making fun of me.
“That’s how I feel every time I go to your pack. The staff at the River Pack Clan border office aren’t very nice to me.”
Just ignore his complaint.
"What brought you to my house?" Alpha Jackson asked after we sat across from each other in his office. "You can't possibly miss me, since I haven't contacted you in two weeks, right?"
"You're so overconfident. If I were you, I'd be embarrassed," I said sarcastically. He let out an annoying laugh. It wasn't pleasant to hear.
"Tell me." Alpha Jackson took a sip of tea. "I'm very curious about what made you come to my house."
“I want to make a deal with you because we hold each other’s secrets,” I said calmly, looking him in the eye.
“Oh, really?” Alpha Jackson looked incredulous, but he put down his empty teacup with trembling hands.
“Tell me what you found out about me. Are you sure it’s my secret?” Alpha Jackson skillfully masked his nervousness.
“You like your half-brother’s mate. You want her to be yours.” I didn’t show any expression on my face. My words were just mocking him, stabbing him right in the heart. “Somehow, that reminds me of the reason our packs became enemies.”
His eyes widened for a few seconds. He couldn't deny what I said because he'd been holding that face for a long time.
“You don’t need to know how I know that.” I picked up my teacup, inhaled its soothing aroma, and my gaze scanned him.
"Are you going after your enemies because you're frustrated? You must be shocked that she refuses to turn her back on your half-brother." My words struck him right in the heart.
He was upset that someone knew why he had been going crazy lately.
“You do know me well.” Alpha Jackson chuckled nervously. “Aren’t you interested in being my friend? We don't seem to be suited to be enemies.” He shook his head.
“I won’t take your words seriously." I rested my hand holding the teacup on my thigh. "We’re in a pact right now to keep each other’s secrets.”
Alpha Jackson took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair.
I smiled faintly at how I enjoyed seeing his desperate face. Finally, I could make him show an expression other than arrogance.
“Okay. Let’s discuss our deal.” Alpha Jackson looked at me straight in the eye, his face serious. “I will not change my conditions for you because I don't want my two spy warriors to die.”
“Okay, I won't sentence them to death.” I didn't spare those two spy warriors. Alpha Jackson just didn't want them to die.
“You keep my secret and don’t dig any deeper into them.” I was so relieved to have stopped Alpha Jackson from doing that. “Don’t let anyone think you know anything about me, and I’ll do the same.”
“Okay. Deal.” Alpha Jackson and I shook hands firmly.
'I'm so glad that rogue intel didn't lie to you. You could use his information to threaten him.' My wolf voice echoed in my head.
Alpha Jackson and I stood on the edge of a cliff.
If my secret got out, people would only be shocked to learn I had a child.
Meanwhile, Alpha Jackson would be deeply embarrassed and lose his self-confidence if people found out his half-brother's mate ignored him and chosen her own mate.
I stayed at his house for over an hour because I was forced to listen to Alpha Jackson's rant about how much he loved his half-brother's mate, and he even asked for my advice on how to win her heart, because I used to be a player.
That crazy man. I would never help someone like him because I hate betrayal.
I returned to my pack, my body feeling exhausted, but my heart filled with relief.
I lay on the couch, staring at my vibrating phone. I had a message from my therapist's assistant.
I was supposed to see my therapist that afternoon, but I postponed it because I found myself doubting she could help me free myself from the nightmares.
I had more faith in medicine, even though nothing had yet cured me.
After informing the therapist’s assistant that I had changed my mind and wouldn’t be meeting the therapist, I sent Celeste a message asking for a video call with Liam.
"Hi, Liam." I smiled broadly when I saw him on my phone.
"Hi." Liam glanced at me briefly. He was still shy and nervous.
"How are you?" It was the first time he'd asked me that, as I was usually the one asking him that.
We chatted warmly. Several times, Liam pointed his phone at Celeste, who was sitting next to him, as if he knew I wanted to see her mother.
Even though it was fleeting, I was happy to remember her gentle smile at Liam as I daydreamed and fought sleep.
'Someone's confessing their attraction to their ex-mate.' My wolf sneered at me with a mocking grin. Damn you, Arlo.
