Chapter 41 Eiden

Chapter 41 Eiden
Eiden's POV

War.

Every week, there’s always some war playing out on television. Many didn't make the news, and we only learn about them through the internet.

It's a real war. You'll see uncensored blood, gruesome corpses, and the heartbreaking howls of dying wolves.

Everyone has to get used to the horrific sight and pretend not to hear the howls of the dying wolves.

Alpha werewolves often wage war, whether with their enemies or against small packs or rogue groups.

Now, no one bothers the lycan clan anymore, as many people strongly oppose the extermination of the clan.

“Alpha Romeo’s really become fierce again,” I muttered, staring at the thin-screen television on the wall. “What made him stop fighting for a year?”

No one knew about that except Alpha Andrew. Unfortunately, both of them were enemies of my pack. I don’t know what my ancestors did to make two powerful packs in the werewolf clan become our enemies.

“Forget about that.” I waved my hand. “All I have to think about now is that Alpha Romeo will definitely attack my pack.”

I saw Arlo in me. 'Hey, Arlo, you should pay attention to Alpha Romeo’s wolf fighting techniques.'

'I already did,' my wolf said. 'Don’t you dare take your eyes off the television.' He warned me not to disturb his concentration.

For that hour and a half, I didn't think about anything, just watched the battle. Alpha Romeo seemed very annoyed with Alpha Xander.

I remembered Alpha Lucas’s offer to join him in attacking Alpha Jackson. I had been putting off discussing it with Beta Serena, Gamma Nolan, and Delta Sophia since yesterday. Today, I would make sure to ask for their opinions.

The war ended with Alpha Romeo's victory. Yeah, everyone expected that. It would be strange if he lost; he was Alpha Cassian's youngest brother.

'Nothing has changed about his wolf's fighting style,' my wolf commented. 'I thought his wolf hadn't done much practice during the year-long hiatus, but I can't deny that his strength is still terrifying.'

My wolf was certain that he had already learned about Alpha Romeo's wolf fighting techniques. Last year, our pack went to war twice with his pack under Alpha Romeo's leadership.

I lost myself in my work the moment I began going through my emails. Time passed so quickly that I didn't even notice.

Before dinner, Gamma Nolan and the head warrior came to my room. If we met at the warrior camp, the enemies would be convinced we were discussing war plans.

"I received information from our spy warrior that Alpha Andrew will attack his enemies before winter," the head warrior said.

"Alpha Andrew will notify his enemies a week before attacking them. He won't surprise us." Gamma Nolan clearly remembered the habits of the River Oval Pack Alpha.

“He honors that tradition well,” I said casually. In truth, we had been waiting for this moment.

“It’s time to determine how many warriors we’ll send and who they'll be,” I instructed Gamma Nolan.

“I will do it, Alpha.” Gamma Nolan touched his chest and nodded. “You don’t need to worry about the quality of our warriors. I will make sure they don’t die in battle.”

“I trust you and our warriors.” I never underestimate them because, so far, they have never let me down.

"It's very likely that Alpha Andrew and Alpha Auretta will merge their warriors, but this is still a rumor." The head warrior shared some interesting information obtained by the spy warriors.

"Wow, Alpha Auretta is very bold." I nodded twice, crossing my legs.

"Mountain Volcano Pack still holds the status of a small pack. Those of us who never attack small packs will be in a dilemma if he sends her warriors to join Alpha Andrew's forces." I rested my chin on my hand, my lips tugging into a grin.

"No matter how many warriors Alpha Auretta sends, it will still anger Alpha Andrew's enemies," Gamma Nolan said with a confused expression. “Alpha Auretta’s warriors amount to only ten percent of Alpha Andrew’s.”

"Whatever their reason, it doesn't make sense and still sounds strange." I shook my head. “Nobody cares that they are mates.”

Gamma Nolan and the head warrior nodded in agreement. Then we left our confusion over Alpha Andrew and Alpha Auretta's plans.

“I got an offer from Alpha Lucas.” I almost forgot to discuss this with them again, maybe because I wasn’t sure about Alpha Lucas’s idea. “He invited me to attack Alpha Jackson’s pack with him.”

"I think that's a bad idea for us, Alpha," Gamma Nolan said. "You must be on the same page as me. If you're not, you would have discussed this with us after you met with Alpha Lucas and Alpha Matteo."

“You’re right.” I smiled and nodded. “You guessed right about when Alpha Lucas offered me that.”

It was a shame I couldn’t see Alpha Jackson’s vengeful gaze on Alpha Lucas and me.

“We can’t infuriate Alpha Jackson as long as he holds my secret.” I huffed in annoyance, my fists clenched tightly.

“Our spy warriors in the Mountain Grass Pack never stop looking for something we can use to threaten Alpha Jackson, Alpha,” the head warrior said, emphasizing their dedication to the mission.

"I'm confident they'll find something. Everyone has secrets." I couldn't wait to threaten Alpha Jackson so my secret would be safe with him.

"Please, remind them to be careful, don't get caught." I looked at the head warrior with both firmness and worry. "I don't want to negotiate with Alpha Jackson."

I didn't want my spy warriors to spend years in prison, but what worried me most was that Alpha Jackson would reveal the fact that I had twins.

For more than two weeks, Alpha Jackson has not revealed the secret to the public because he cares about his two spy warriors in our prison.

This Alpha Jackson was having fun playing with me. He hadn't caught my warrior spies in his pack. He must have been hoping they would find out the secret he was hiding from everyone.

Today, I wasn't just buried in documents; my thoughts kept drifting to the war. I couldn't allow myself to fall ill. I had to stay in top shape.

I sat back down in my office chair after finishing my dinner.

I wasn’t sleepy at all. For an entire week, I hadn’t dreaded my bed. Sleeping without nightmares after three torturous months felt like a blessing.

I smiled when I read Celeste's message. She told me Liam had just had dinner. Lately, she's been responding to my messages within minutes, so I no longer have to wait hours.

“Liam called me on video without me having to ask.”

Slowly, the mother's and son’s attitudes toward me began to change. I felt an overwhelming sense of relief when they finally opened up.

'Do you think Celeste will accept you back?' My wolf suddenly asked me a question I never wanted to answer.

'I won't think about that.' I didn't want our relationship to be bad just because I expected something else from Celeste.

I pressed a hand to my rapidly beating chest. I still couldn’t be sure where Celeste truly stood in my heart.
