Chapter 104 Eiden
Eiden's POV
After making sure Beta Serena was far away from the forest, we climbed into the car.
David sat next to the driver. Meanwhile, I held Celeste's hand, who was sitting next to me. Liam and Levi were intently watching a movie in the back seat.
I glanced at Celeste, who was playing with her phone. From today on, there was no sight more beautiful than her.
Celeste didn't need to ask me to cover my eyes with a cloth, because I wasn't interested in looking out the window.
I brushed aside questions about Celeste attacking me. Soon, I would know everything about her, and she would also keep her promise to tell me who the perpetrator was who had terrorized me and shot me in the left ear.
Celeste showed me a viral news story that caught her attention. We discussed it, our cheeks flushing as our eyes met. Why were we like teenagers who have just learned what puppy love is?
The drive to Celeste’s house felt endless. By the time we arrived, Liam and Levi just had already finished the movie.
My brow furrowed as I realized this.
This place wasn't like a typical rogue group. The neighborhood was quiet and sparsely populated. The two apartment buildings, which had dozens of floors, seemed empty.
The area was small. There was only one forest. I'd never heard of a rogue group with these characteristics.
“That’s our house, Alpha.” Levi pointed to a white house with two slides in the front yard.
Our car pulled into the house. I tensed without knowing why when Celeste tapped my hand, signaling me to open the door.
I stepped onto the ground, holding my breath. The air felt heavy, so silent that I could hear my own heartbeat raging in my ears.
“I’ll take you to my office.” Celeste took my hand. At least her sweet smile reassured me.
Liam and Levi went to the playroom. They asked me to join them after I finished talking with Celeste.
I wasn't sure about that, since I was going to lock Celeste in her room. I couldn't wait to mark her!
"This used to be Benedict's study," Celeste explained.
A row of photos caught my eye.
"Here are pictures of Benedict's grandfather, Benedict's father, Benedict, and me." Celeste pointed out the photos hanging on the left wall. They were wearing all black and looking straight at the camera.
My brows knitted together. My head was spinning, trying to figure out why they were posing like that.
'Celeste is truly mysterious,' my wolf commented.
“Sit down.” Celeste invited me to sit next to her on the sofa. She smiled and kept my eyes fixed on her.
“Are you ready?” I raised an eyebrow at her question. Celeste chuckled nervously. “I’m sure you’ll be surprised.”
“Just tell me. I’ll try to understand you.” I didn’t know what Celeste meant, but since she wasn’t like a civilian, I shouldn’t have been so surprised.
“I’m not a civilian.” Those were the first words she spoke to explain who she was. “I’m an Alpha. Only until Levi is ready to take over.”
I frowned. My face must have looked incredibly stupid. Instead of being surprised, I was confused.
“Right now, you are in BlackBirds Group. One of the assassin groups you contacted to find out about someone who's been giving you nightmares for months."
My jaw dropped. My eyes widened. I forgot to breathe.
“So… you’re… their Alpha?” I stuttered, my index finger trembling.
“Yes, I’m the Alpha of the rogue assassin group, the BlackBirds.”
Celeste said it casually. I was at a loss for words.
I never imagined she was the Alpha of a rogue assassin group!
Two messages from an unknown number flashed through my head. The person was right, Celeste was a dangerous woman. She wasn’t like the one I knew.
“I didn’t kill.” Celeste shook her head. “I was just taking care of paperwork and client requests.” She knew what was on my mind.
My throat was dry, and my mind was blank.
Celeste handed me a cup of black coffee. I downed it in one gulp.
Celeste let me process what I had just heard. Even my wolf didn’t know what to say.
“I never thought that the woman I had known all this time, who was gentle, elegant, and sweet, was the Alpha of a rogue assassin group,” I said, eyeing Celeste in disbelief.
"That's the real me." Celeste patted the back of my hand. "Do you want me to prove it to you?"
“No need. I trust you.” I waved my hand. A second later, I narrowed my eyes. “Do you use scent-disguising perfume?”
“Of course.” Celeste nodded. “If not, my identity would have been revealed long ago.”
I looked back at the photos. Who would have thought my ex-mate was an Alpha like me?
“Beta, Gamma, and Delta want to meet you.” Celeste’s words made my back stiffen. She was struggling to hold back her laughter.
Two men and one woman entered the room. My nose wrinkled. They weren't hiding their true scents.
“Hello, Alpha Eiden.” A man with a face similar to Benedict's extended his hand to me. “I'm Beta Dylan.”
I also shook hands with Gamma Silas and Delta Giana.
“Congratulations,” Beta Dylan said with a broad smile. “I’m happy to see you’re mates again.”
“Thank you, Beta,” Celeste replied. She looked at me with grateful eyes. “The Moon Goddess has blessed us as mates again. That means we were meant for each other.”
My heart warmed at her words. My love for her grew even stronger.
“I’ll kill you if you betray Alpha and make her cry,” Beta Dylan warned me. “It’s easy for us to do.”
I nodded, feeling my legs tremble.
“Don’t scare him,” Celeste said. “Beta, don’t you have something you need to tell him?”
“Oh, about that.” Beta Dylan squeezed his hand and glanced at me hesitantly.
Beta Dylan took a deep breath before saying remorsefully, "I apologize to you, Alpha Eiden. I ordered two of our agents to terrorize you and shoot off your left ear."
I was shocked. Celeste had kept her promise. And my suspicions, Beta Serena, Gamma Nolan, and Delta Sophia, were correct: the perpetrators were rogue assassins.
Who would have thought the mastermind behind the terror I experienced was one of the top brass of the rogue assassin group?
What was more surprising was that he was a member of Celeste's group and did it out of jealousy, seeing Celeste getting closer to me.
“I haven’t punished him yet. He’s been free for six months,” Celeste told me. “I leave it to you to punish him.”
My fists clenched tightly. Anger bubbled in my chest.
I was increasingly annoyed with Beta Dylan because he was the one who liked Celeste. Alea trained with my wolf just to be able to fight his wolf.
"I'll think of a suitable punishment for you," I hissed sharply. Today was my happy day with Celeste, but Celeste had given me many surprises I never imagined.
"Okay, if that's your decision, Alpha." Celeste nodded. She glanced at Beta Dylan sarcastically. The man lowered his head.
“You already know who we are, don’t you?” Gamma Silas looked me straight in the eye. I nodded. “We trust you, but we’ll still send our agents to monitor you for the rest of your life.”
“O-okay. I understand.” I nodded stiffly, like a robot.
Celeste patted the back of my hand, reassuring me.
I didn’t need to be afraid of them. I would keep their secret to the grave and would love only Celeste for the rest of my life.
However, in reality, after they left, I was still holding my breath without realizing it.
“Do you regret loving me now?” Celeste raised an eyebrow. “Just tell me the truth before you mark me.”
“Why would I regret it?” I raised an eyebrow, too.
“My love for you will never fade, no matter what, and I’m not afraid of you or your members.” I shook my head.
“I’m so grateful to you for giving me a second chance.” I held her hand and smiled broadly. “I’ll never let you down.”
“I trust you.” Celeste hugged me. Her sweet and refreshing aroma was truly more addictive than any other type of alcohol.
I asked her to go to her room. Celeste laughed. I wouldn’t waste any time marking her.
Celeste was mine. Forever.
