Chapter thirty-nine - He's not ready
Chapter thirty-nine - He's not ready
[REN]
It's been a month since we finished our mating process, and truthfully it's incredible.
I've never been happier in my life.
We already had my Luna acceptance ceremony.
The pack is wonderful.
Me and Azrael, we're almost always together, he keeps by my side, and he has become even more overprotective, but I'm not complaining.
Azrael left a week ago; he promised to get back home soon, so all this time I've been in charge, leading the pack.
The council decided to give him more lands and ours, and my father's packs are reunited now in one big pack. He mentioned some formal issues, but I already can't wait for him to come back.
I miss him so, so much.
I took a shower, for the fifth time this morning; lately, I haven't felt right. Might be flu, not sure could I even have one, but still feels like it.
I went downstairs, his mother already waiting for me. We decided to have breakfast together while my mate is away so that this morning won't be any different.
As soon as I entered the kitchen, I could smell the burnt ham, and it made my stomach go in twists in turns. I decided to ignore that.
She hugged me tighter than ever. Something must be off. All sorts of thoughts attacked my mind. I started getting worried, what if something happened to Azrael? I couldn't bear it.
I broke away from her hug, and soon tears started streaming down her cheeks.
"What happened? Is it Azrael? What happened, please, please tell me! Please!" I cried out. My hands started shaking, my heartbeat fastened, few tears already escaping my eyes.
"No! You can't be under stress, not right now," she suddenly whisper-yelled.
"What? What are you talking about?" I asked her, confused.
"You don't know?" she gasped.
"Know what?"
"I assumed you knew and kept it as a secret. Didn't you noticed something different about you yesterday?" she asked.
Now, if I think about it, well, I've been feeling sick lately, but nothing different.
I just shook my head and looked at her in confusion.
"Sit down, I'll explain," she took my hand and led me to the living room.
Bye, kitchen, my love. I'll miss the food dearly.
As soon as we sat down, she hugged me again, needless to say, that she's making me feel more confused about the whole situation.
"I noticed it two weeks ago, but I didn't say a thing, because I was sure that you're willing to keep it as a secret. You know, a surprise for my son," she spoke, her voice sounding as she was in love.
"Alright, let's stop here and tell me what are you talking about. Please, I'm so confused," I pleaded.
"Have you heard from your wolf recently?" she asked.
What's happening? Why is she asking about my wolf? I mean, she's been quiet and distant for a while, but it must be just a temper tantrum-Happens pretty often.
"No?"
"Ren, my lovely child, how could you not notice?" she asked, shocked.
"Notice what?"
"Can't you feel the heartbeat? You're pregnant!" she clapped her hands and cheered.
"That might explain why I suddenly felt so sick on the mornings," I mumbled under my nose.
"I'm going to be a grandma!!!" she yelled, excited.
Out of nowhere, I broke down in tears. And not happy ones. I felt defeated.
"Why's wrong, sweetheart? Aren't you happy? Those are great news after all," she asked worriedly.
I couldn't explain what was happening to me; I just couldn't. But this didn't feel like something good.
"I am, it's just.." I couldn't finish what I was trying to say as I once again broke down in tears.
"Just what dear?" she asked. She was worried and confused. I don't blame her; I would feel the same.
"He said he's not ready; he will reject me now," I whispered.
"He said what?" she now yelled, and I kept sobbing.
As soon as I could get myself together, I decided to repeat myself as she was waiting for me to do so.
"He said he's not ready," I was still sobbing, she was about to say something when the main door opened and someone walked in. I knew who he was; the addicting scent would never leave my mind.
"Who's not ready? Ready for what?" he spoke loudly. When he entered the living room, he noticed me all teared up and rushed next to me, instantly pulling me into his lap. He kept trying to calm me down, placing kiss by kiss on my forehead.
"My Queen, why are you crying? Who dared to hurt you? Just tell me, and I'll kill that useless waste of space. I will fucking destroy him," he spoke in anger. That just made me feel even worse, tears once again streaming down my cheeks like a river.
"Mother, what's wrong?" he understood that I couldn't talk now, so he went for a backup.
"Well, she's.." she looked at me and nodded for me to tell it. I guess she's right; I need to be the one who says it, I can't let anyone else break the news.
"I'm so sorry," I whispered.
"For what? What happened? Please talk to me, love," his voice was trembling. There were only a few times until now I've heard him sound so desperate.
"I'm pregnant," I finally managed to say.
What I didn't expect was him jumping on his feet, with me still on his arms and spinning me like a little kid. He was yelling and laughing with happiness.
"Aren't you angry at me? You said you're not ready," I finally asked him, confused as he carefully placed me back on the sofa. He was more careful this time as if he could break me by even touching.
"Love, I couldn't be angry at you, when you make me the happiest man alive. And I never said that I'm not ready, I said that we are not. I didn't want to pressure you into building a family with me since day one I was dreaming about you having my pups, but I was scared that you are the one who's not ready" he looked at me in admiration. Soon his head was on my thighs, and he slowly lifted my shirt.
"Whoever you are in there, girl or boy, mom, and dad already love you to the moon and back," he said and kissed my belly.
I'm happy.
