Chapter twenty-eight - Good morning mother

Chapter twenty-eight - Good morning mother

[AZRAEL]

I woke up with a slight headache, feeling completely numb. Ren didn't reject me, that's good. I think she doesn't want to see me, that's bad. I feel like a damn kid right now, barely keeping the line between good and evil.

I groaned and got out of the bed, as much as I'd rather stay here, think about how to win my mate, the pack won't run on its own.

I stood up, stretched my sore limbs, and lazily went to the bathroom. I would lie if I would tell that shower doesn't make me feel a bit better. I went through my morning routine as per usual, but I couldn't get rid of the emptiness feeling inside of me. I miss her; without Ren around, nothing matters. I wasn't exactly hungry, but the common sense in me did keep nagging me about having some breakfast.

Just as I slowly went down the stairs, my wolf started acting weird.

"What is it?" I asked, irritated.

"We're in deep shit," he whined, somehow sounding scared more than on edge. That's new. Just as I was about to ask him what exactly happened, I heard an angry voice calling for me.

"Azrael Valentino, come here this instant!" my mother yelled from the top of her lungs.

Shit.

I am feared Alpha, ruthless leader, BUT nothing could scare me more than a pissed off mother. This woman brought me to this world; she could easily snap my neck without a second thought. Lesson learned, always respect your mother.

"Good morning, mother," I greeted her as I entered the dining room, where she already sat at the end of the table.

"Don't you good morning me here!" she growled at me, her eyes suddenly turning red.

It's been years since I last have seen her wolf on a surface.

"Hmm, I see. It's nice seeing you once again, Fox, it's been years," I sat down and smiled at her.

"Listen here, pup," she started talking as an unnoticed growl escaped my lips.

"Did you just growled at me?" she slowly stood up.

My eyes widened at my actions, Alpha in me couldn't deal with being disrespected, even if it's my mother. I looked down in shame.

"I'm sorry," I whispered, not like the situation.

"That's better. Now on to the case", mother suddenly spoke seriously.

"Don't get me wrong, it's a pleasure to see you once again, yet I'm quite curious how did I earn such a gift to be faced with you," I calmly asked.

"You see, after birthing you for only the Moon Goddess herself knows how many hours, I'm deeply pissed off to see how you turned out," she spat at me.

"Care to explain?" I yawned and made myself more comfortable, knowing that this conversation will last quite some time.

"Holy shit, my son, is stupid," she fake gasped.

"Excuse me, mother?"

"You're excused," grin suddenly grew wider on her face.

"Cut the crap, Fox, what is it?" needless to say, that I'm surprised myself of how the Hell did I just spoke to my mother. Don't judge me; mother's wolf sometimes tends to get way too vulgar.

"Where do I start? Impatient as always, son?" she smiled at me widely, and I just sighed. That's the defeat. I kept quiet, waiting for her to talk. Soon she sat back down and observed me for a few minutes; afterward, she spoke again.

"I'm so disappointed in you," she sighed heavily.

"What did I do this time?" I couldn't make myself sound less irritated, and she took the hint.

"Where's your mate?" after those words left her mouth, I soon felt like the world has collapsed under my feet. Not a single word could get over my lips. She hit right under the belt.

"That's what I thought! Now answer my damn question, pup! Where the Hell is your mate?" she now yelled once again.

"Home," I whispered.

"Home? This is supposed to be her home, but I don't see, nor feel or sense her around here!" she kept yelling, gesturing her hands around the dining room.

"At her pack. With her family."

"After all I've been through, you're about to turn into your fucking father?" mother yelled at me, Fox taking full control over her body.

Now THAT hurt.

"I am not like him, you hear me? Not like him!" now I was the one who was yelling. I stood up and punched the wall in anger.

"Prove it!" she kept testing me.

I knew I would never forgive myself if I would let my anger take control of me. I would hurt my mother, and I can't let that happen. Even though her words hurt more than anything, I just couldn't.

"I'm trying, mom, I'm fucking trying, alright?" my head hung low.

"I know what happened here, son" the voice, who spoke to me, wasn't angry, pissed off Fox anymore; it was my mother.

"I would never," I whispered, trying to reassure myself for how honest I was at this point. Suddenly a small hand was placed on my shoulder, and all anger seemed to fade away eventually. I took a few deep breaths and closed my eyes.

"Send her flowers. A lot, add a note. Do it each day, even if she'll get irritated, keep doing it. Show her that you care, prove to her that she's important. Son, she needs to know that you're thinking about her. She needs to know that you need her as much as she needs you. Please, try. I don't want you to lose her as I know how much it hurts to lose your mate. Please, try", she spoke calmly.

"Flowers, what else can I do for her? Mother, I'm the worst mate ever, I don't know a thing about her. All I know is that she's perfect and I need her. Oh God, how I need her," I felt tears forming in my eyes. I was rumored to be cold-hearted, and yet, here I am, crying over she-wolf, who most likely don't want me.

"We shall think of something, but you must act fast. The girl is mated to an Alpha; her heat will start any moment, we can't let her stay around unmated Warriors there, it's unsafe," the realization hit me like a wall of bricks.

"I must win her back," I whispered to myself, my fists clenched and breathing fastened. I quickly hugged my mother and stormed off to my cabinet.

"What about breakfast?" she yelled from behind me.

"Doesn't matter, I have to win my mate back," I yelled and ran upstairs. I could feel my mother smiling, call it weird, but that's how it is. The aura of pride came from her, so I must have pleased her with my actions. Hopefully, I'll be able to get my beautiful Raven back, no, I hope she will give me a chance to win her trust first. After that, maybe, we will able to work on real "us." Only the Gods know how much I miss her, how much I need her, how I won't stop at any obstacle to get her back.
