Chapter 68

Mica

I had never been this happy after my parents's deaths. The family I long for has come to materialize because of Aziz and the entire pack that became my extended family. I am happy and content with how things are, and I didn't want this to change. “Woman, are you sure you didn't want to come?” Aziz asked. He had been invited into a pack for the Luna ceremony. As much as I wanted to, Hera told me that Aziz told her previous alpha about her being his mate because he didn't want the truth about her to escalate. I just want to keep it that way, so my mate doesn't have to worry.

“Go on; I'll be fine here. Make sure to take care of yourself.” I replied, smiling. I didn't want him to leave, but I also know that attending that kind of event is also his duty.

“I didn't want to leave you here, alone.”

“I'm not!” I exclaimed. “Hera and Lexis are here. Then there's Carter; you know that they're not going to let anything happen to me.”

“But–”

“No more buts; go and attend to your duties. I'll be waiting for your return, so make sure not to look into another she-wolf. Reeves will tell me if you do.” I said, stopping him from talking. He doesn't like that, but I can do that to him since I am his mate and he loves me.

“How do you think I will do that if you're all that I see everywhere I look?” I rolled my eyes, and he laughed at me. He knew how to flatter me, and I didn't say that I didn't like it. I love it. It was one of his ways of saying I love you to me.

“Leave now, or you'll be late. Don't worry about me because the pack is here to protect me at all costs.” I assured him.

He nodded with a wide smile. “I'm happy that you finally realized that.” Then he planted a kiss on my lips before he turned his back to me with Reeves, who was shaking his head and grinning.

I stayed on the porch and watched them leave until their car was out of sight before I went back inside the pack house, where Hera, Lexis, and Carter were waiting in the alpha's office.

“Did they leave already?” Carter asked as soon as I closed the door.

“What do you think she's doing here if they haven't?" Lexis asked arrogantly as Hera laughed on the side and our gamma rolled his eyes at her.

The three were sitting at the meeting table. It's a round table inside the Alpha's office, where small discussions are usually held.

“I wonder how your mate will handle you. I'm so thankful that none of Alpha's siblings are my mate.” Carter rebutted.

“And you think you're welcome in our family?” Lexis asked again, but this time, Hera interfered.

"Enough, you two. You're not a kid anymore. Let's do what we came here for since Carter has pack duties to attend because Aziz and Reeves are not around.”

“You speak like a Luna,” Carter commented.

“She's a luna, idiot!” Lexis exclaimed, which earned her a glare from Hera, and we all laughed.

“Alright, let's start the meeting,” I said, and they all turned serious, so I started telling them the reason why I called them here without Aziz knowing.

“Do you think Alpha will agree?” Carter asked, concerned.

“I could feel myself getting stronger every day, thanks to Aziz, who had been constantly training me with all his might. I want to be of help when the time comes, but now I don't think that will happen.” I answered.

“That didn't answer my question, Luna. Do you think Alpha will agree? You know, as a new vampire, your thirst for blood is stronger than theirs. You would want it once you've seen it.” He replied.

“Mica, it's going to be very dangerous. You don't know how much I fought for control before, and just like Carter said, you'd want to have a taste of it.” Lexis added.

“The incident in the mall is just the beginning. You didn't have actual training where you saw real human blood." It was Hera.

“That's why I am asking for your help. I want to learn how to control my thirst for blood, just like you. Or help me convince Aziz instead if he doesn't want to.”

“Wait, during training, you didn't hit Aziz even once enough to give him some wounds that may cause him to bleed even a little?” Lexis asked.

“I did, of course. But every time I smelled his blood, I didn't feel like sucking him dry. It smelled so good as if there was something in me that I shouldn't. You know, it's as if I smelled the most intoxicating scent, making me want him to, you know, fuck me.” I answered shyly.

“That's the mate bond working on you,” Hera said.

“So you feel that too?” I asked, and she nodded before I looked at Lexis to confirm it. Just like her sister, she also nodded. “Then how the hell did you manage to distance yourself from your mates?” I asked curiously.

“No comment,” Hera answered.

“Wow, I can't believe you can deprive yourselves of love and lust this much,” I commented, which made Carter laugh.

“They are just hardheaded, Luna. But Alpha believes that, just like you, they will find it in their hearts to submit to their mates. Lexis and Athena are both independent. And Hera too, just more feminine.”

“I hope that you can be happy with your mates ASAP,” I said sincerely. “So, can we go to human territory now?” I asked, and they all exclaimed.

“Luna, it's dangerous,” Carter said. “And I won't be able to come with you because our alpha and beta are not around.”

“Please, I can go there alone. I'll be careful, I promise.” I pleaded.

“Don't make it hard on him, Mica,” Hera said. “Don't be stubborn either. You will only get yourself in trouble if you continue to do what you are thinking.” I rolled my eyes at her because she read my thoughts.

“You're thinking of escaping?” Carter asked, shocked.

“And Lexis, stop thinking that way either. I am going to stop you no matter what.” Hera said, looking at her sibling.

“I'm not thinking about anything!” Lexis said, raising both her hands in surrender, but Hera just rolled her eyes.

“Luna, I didn't mean to disrespect you. But I'd rather let you get mad at me than put you in danger and make Aziz angry. If there's nothing more, I'll go back to my duties.” Carter said this and got up from his seat before walking to the door. “If you want to try it, wait for Alpha." I'm sure he'll understand you and might do something about it.” He added this before he left the office. I sighed, looking at Hera and Lexis, who just shrugged their shoulders. I guess I'll have to tell my mate about this and get his approval myself.
