Chapter 118

Chapter 118

Anthony sat quietly beside his father, surrounded by the stern faces of the council from the neighboring kingdom. The discussion about the property line was tense, especially with the werewolf representatives expressing their desire to open a small clinic. Many in their community couldn’t afford the expensive city hospital, only going there when absolutely necessary. As the men spoke, Anthony’s mind wandered for a moment, recalling what Kathy had told him before about compassion and the importance of helping those who struggle. He listened more intently, realizing the meeting was about more than just borders—it was about building a place where everyone could belong.

Breaking his silence, Anthony finally spoke up. “I think it’s a great idea for some of the pack to have a clinic with professional doctors who can also do house calls—and still get paid,” he said, his voice steady but hopeful. His words seemed to linger in the heavy air, drawing the attention of both councils.

“We have rogue which they can impersonate a doctor or nurse to get the trust of the people also some of the hospitals are getting low of the medical supplies and we can’t really trust humans to give those medical supplies without being expired supplies,”

“We are in trouble—even some of the packs are not getting clean drinking water,” pack leader added, his concern deepening. He glanced around, hoping the council would recognize the urgency behind his words. The lack of basic necessities was making life even harder for those already struggling, underscoring the need for real solutions that went beyond medical care.

Anthony and Frances start to think because the money coming from the Wealth Impact Solutions, it’s having to be planned carefully. Frances knows if Katherine was here and she would help him, then Frances has an idea. Frances raises his hand up so he can video called someone.

The screen flickered for a moment before Katherine’s face appeared, her tone gentle but curious. “Lord Frances, how can I help you?” she asked, scanning the gathered faces for any sign of what was wrong.

Frances glanced toward the screen and spoke firmly, “Katherine, we are in a meeting. I wouldn’t call you if it wasn’t important. Some of the pack leaders are here because they are in trouble.” He paused, his eyes showing the seriousness of the situation, hoping she would understand the urgency.

Katherine’s voice came through clearly, and Anthony could sense the weight of the question in the room. Frances replied, “The main problem is that some packs are struggling to access basic necessities. They don’t have clean drinking water, reliable medical supplies, or affordable healthcare. There’s concern about expired supplies coming from outside sources, and fears that impostors might take advantage of the situation by pretending to be medical professionals. That’s why the packs want to open their own clinics and ensure trustworthy care for their people.”

“Um… some of the water sources, lands, and hospitals are concerns right now. Certain packs are hoping to open their own small clinics or hospitals so they don’t always have to travel to the main one. They’d also like to have some doctors or nurses available for on-call visits, which would make it easier for everyone to get care when they need it.”

“Let me guess some of them is off grid and away from towns. Is they close to the river or water fall something like that?”

“Yes,”

Katherine listened intently, considering the options. “If you’re thinking about building a wall or any sort of barrier for water, you need to make absolutely sure that the materials you use are non-toxic and won’t contaminate the water supply—otherwise, you risk making everyone sick. Another option would be installing a pressure tank system in the basement, where water from underground sources is pumped into the tank and then distributed through pipes throughout the house. You’d also want to include filters on anything entering the pipes to catch potential contaminants.”

She paused, thoughtful. “Which approach do you think is best for your situation? Remember, since some packs live off the grid and get water directly from rivers or streams, you’ll want a solution that’s practical both for remote areas and those closer to towns. Both options can work, but making sure the water stays clean and accessible for everyone has to be the top priority.”

“How much will it cost?” asked Lord Frances

“For each household, it would cost at least $1,000, but if they already have pipes running through their home, the cost would be lower. The existing infrastructure can significantly reduce installation expenses, making it more affordable for those homes that just need upgrades rather than a full system build-out.”

“Lady Katherine, that how we been getting our water from pipes that is underground,” someone added, their voice tinged with concern. “But lately, the water doesn’t seem as clean as before, and there are times it comes out looking cloudy or with a strange taste. We’re worried about what might be getting into the supply.”

Katherine responded, “Right now, it sounds like most of the water is coming through unfiltered pipes. That’s likely why people are noticing cloudy water and strange tastes—there’s no filter system in place to catch contaminants. Adding proper filtration would make a big difference in water quality and safety.”

“So we will be getting this mud or it’s gotten clog,” someone murmured, worry evident in their tone. “Sometimes the water slows down or even stops, and we have to flush the pipes out. If there’s mud or debris, it ends up coming right through the faucets.”

“No wonder—do you know how dangerous that is? Unfiltered water can easily lead to cross-contamination from wild animals and bugs, introducing harmful bacteria, parasites, or even viruses into your supply. Even if the water looks clear, it could carry invisible pathogens that pose serious health risks, especially for families relying on it every day.”

“Can a company do it?

“Yes, I know a company that will put the pressure tank into home, he has one in his home. This will be safer to drink, wash and cook with. So let me contact him first. How many home?”

“About 300 or 400 per pack,”

“Alright then. Any else?”

“Hospitals need new medical equipment. Even the smaller hospitals,”

Katherine writing all these down in her books who she has to called and get the stuff ready. Even since Lord Frances, friends, and families found that Katherine knows people. Katherine looks at the babies who was playing with their toys, smiles then look back screen then sigh.

“Lord Frances if you end any else, you know how to contact me,”

“Yes, Lady Katherine.

The video call ended, leaving Katherine with a list of urgent tasks. She picked up her phone and dialed the number for the company she knew, the one with the reliable contact who sold water tanks. She hoped he would be available to meet soon, knowing how important it was for the pack to have access to clean drinking water, as well as safe water for washing and cooking. The thought of helping so many families motivated her to act quickly and get the process started.
