Chapter 23

I woke up to a request from Rory to meet him. Dolphus gave me the letter.

The news of Rory's request weighed heavily on my mind as I made my way to the meeting place he had specified. I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease, unsure of what he might want from me after all this time.

As I arrived, I found Rory waiting for me, his expression unreadable as he watched me approach. His presence sent a shiver down my spine, a reminder of the power he once held over me as alpha.

"Alaya," he greeted me, his voice neutral. "Thank you for coming."

I nodded in response, my nerves on edge as I waited for him to speak. Whatever he wanted, I knew it couldn't be good.

"I wanted to talk to you about Elias," Rory began, his tone serious. "There's something off about him, and I need to know if he poses a threat to our pack."

I frowned, taken aback by Rory's sudden concern. "What do you mean, something off?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.

Rory hesitated for a moment before speaking, his words measured. "He's a lone wolf, Alaya," he explained. "And lone wolves are unpredictable. We need to know if he's friend or foe."

I nodded in understanding, my mind racing with possibilities. Elias had always struck me as an enigmatic figure, his motives shrouded in mystery. But despite my reservations, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to him than met the eye.

"I'll look into it," I promised, my voice firm. "But I need time to gather more information before I can make any judgments."

Rory nodded in agreement, his expression tense. "Be careful, Alaya," he warned. "We don't know what we're dealing with here."

As I left the meeting, my mind was abuzz with thoughts of Elias and the danger he might pose to our pack. But amidst the chaos, one thing was clear – I needed to tread carefully, for the safety of my pack and myself.

Later that evening, as I returned to the pack territory, I found Dolphus waiting for me, his expression grave.

"Alaya, we need to talk," he said, his voice serious. "There's something you need to know"

I walked right to where he was seated amd sat right next to him.

"Alaya", He started, "It sure is none of my business but I'd been really curious on the recent development, i mean the Rory's development."

i squeezed my forehead in a frown with one pf my eyebrow lifted up, i asked like i didnt understand what he meant, "What do you mean by the latest Rory's development?"

Dolphus looked at me, his eyes saying 'I could squeeze the life out of you, like dont you get or why are you pretending?' kind of way.

"Okay, okay.... i get what you mean, i thought the same way too" i finally admitted, "but i think he doesn't mean any harm tho"

He took a long sigh and said, "That's the enemy, you can't say he doesn't mean any harm. Do you ever think that Rory can love you out of the blue."

"Well, there's a popular saying that says keep your friends close and your enemies closer, so if that's his plan, it's my plan too. so i guess we're both equal, we cants take down anyone."

" You really have lost it, haven't you?" Dolphus asked rudely.

i turned to face him for the forst time, i looked him right in the eye and asked, "Dolph, Who the heck are you talking to?". I heard him clearly but it cannot be me he was talking to, nobody talks to me like that, ever.

"I'm sorry" he apologized almost immediately. He knew that i was serious amd i didn't like being disrespected.

i saw the fear im the face and i had to calm myself down amd calm him down too. he eas only worried about it, ive always known so wekl yhat Dolphus was the ome personal asides from ny best friend that really really wanted the best for me. and, ofcourse, he made a point about Rory. its verg possible that if could be true but i was willing to trust my guts.

"Look", i began, "I'll share with you what Rory said to me. Well.... he's a lil bit or sincerely, big time conscious and cautious of Elias. He thinks Elias os the traitor and should not be trusted. But ofcourse Elias is a stranger but he's one of us, i dont think he would just want to bring us down out of the blue, je snot that horrible, i guess

Dolphus stayed silent for a while, i kept waiting for him to say something, bit he didnt, and he wasn't ready to say anything. i hit him hard on shoulder amd it made him squirm. "Why the heck are you so silent?" he asked. He still didnt respond.

i hit him again amd started teasing, "Dolph Dolph, my verhyown Dolphus, the smartest maye anyone could ever woh for and
