Chapter 20

Derek smiled as an idea popped into his head and he jumped out of his seat. He grinned with an evil intent as he made his way out of his office in a rush. He knew he had no time and he had to do everything really quick.

He grinned. He was going to strike at the Livingstons where they weren't expecting. They should continue taunting him and flaunting their fake love all over the internet while he got busy with his revenge. It was not over until he said it was over and he was not done with Adam yet.

He dashed into his car and rushed home. He went into his storage room, found the tools he was looking for gathered them in a small bag. He flipped through the whole room looking for Adam's old comb when he had stayed in his house. He had purposely not disposed of it for a moment like this day. He grinned as he found it, patting the comb like a baby. He extracted the strands of hair he needed and left.

He drove to Matthew Husseys' company and walked straight to his office. He breathed in relief, smiling in joy as he saw that his secretary was out and slid into the office without bothering to knock.

Matthew Hussey was in his office as he had hoped and was alone. Ah! Derek grinned. Fate was finally on his side. Good choice, fate. He mused. Just when he needed it.

Matthew raised his head up, frowning at the intruder in his office. "How may I help you?"

Derek sat down on the seat opposite Matthew without bothering to be told. He crossed his legs, staring at Matthew with unconcealed hatred and dumped the bag he carried on the floor, making sure Matthew heard the clang of the tools in there.

"What are you doing here in my office?" Matthew asked, swallowing his fear as he wondered how such a nutcase had escaped security and the reception and made his way into his office. He was dressed in a suit and he wondered if that was what made everyone assume he was normal.

He groaned, they probably let him in because they assumed he had an appointment with him. He realized he shouldn't have sent his secretary out on an errand. If she was around, she would have informed him of his presence before he walked in.

Derek smiled, knowing the old man had realized the gravity of the situation. "I am Adam's friend, sir."

Matthew eased out a relieved breath. "Oh, welcome." He said, though he didn't know of him. If he was Adam's friend, then that meant he was safe. The metals he had heard could be what he worked with.

Derek shook his head as he realized that Matthew had let his guards down as he had hoped. What a fool!

Matthew smiled at him. "How may I help you?"

"Why did you marry Veronica off to Adam?"

Matthew's smile froze on his face. "What? No one married anyone off to anyone. You read the news. They are married because they found love with each other and not by someone's doing."

Derek growled, jumping off the chair. "Bullshit!"

Matthew's eyes went wide. He was dangerous as he had predicted earlier. He tried to grab the telephone but Derek saw him and swiped it off the table. "Don't you dare call anybody." He roared. "Or they all die with you."

Matthew swwllowed at his words and the insanity shining in his eyes. He nodded at Derek, assuring him of his cooperation.

"Good." Derek nodded. "Now, let's get to business."

He moved to the bag he had brought in with him while keeping an eye on Mathew. He slipped on the gloves and picked up the hammer. Matthew swallowed and moaned in fear as he saw the tool and realized what his use was for. He sagged in sadness. He wouldn't get to see his grandchild. He wouldn't get to see his daughter and his son-in-law and tell them goodbye while telling them of how he loved them and how much they meant to him.

"Why are you doing this?"

Derek snorted. "I told you already. Your made a mistake letting your daughter marry Adam and bringing his failed business back to life." He roared, advancing towards him. "You spoiled my plans by doing what you did."

"I thought you said you are his friend."

Derek knew Matthew was fishing for information and he decided to tell him all what he needed to know. He shrugged. He was going to die anyways so it didn't matter what he knew or didn't.

Derek laughed. "Forgive my grammar. I was his friend."

"What happened?"

"He always had everything I wanted. He was always ahead of me no matter how much I tried." He lowered his voice, almost a whine. "How can I be friends with such a man who steals the show away from me?"

"You are jealous of him." Mathew stated.

"Jealous?" Derek roared with laughter. "I am only taking what belongs to me that Derek is stealing away from me."

Matthew chuckled. "If that is what makes it easy for you to sleep at night, young man."

"Don't you dare laugh at me!"

Mathew shook his head. He had no idea Adam had such a crazy friend. He was glad for Adam's sake that they were no longer friends. "I guess all the misfortunes that happened to Adam were all by your doings."

"Yes." Derek confessed, picking up the hammer. "And also this misfortune that is about to happen to you." With a hiss, he slammed the hammer into Matthew's skull, smiling as his head dropped to the table, bleeding. He dropped Adam's hair in a way that made it seem like it came off as Matthew was struggling with him. He picked the hammer, dumped it into his bag and walked walked out of the office without a backward glance.

He didn't have to check to know Mathew was dead.
