Chapter 53

I looked at him, this was the first time I was seeing him since then. I looked him dead in the eye, there was so much I wanted to say, at the same time, i wanted nothing . Absolutely nothing to do with him.

“Allison?” he called. I looked at him, tongue tied. “I’ve missed you”

He moved closer to me.

“Stay the hell away from me, I want nothing to do with you.” I sneered.

He looked taken aback for a moment. Like he didn’t expect me to say things like that to him.. as soon as the shock came on his face, he covered it. “come one now, don’t be like that. You know, I’ve really missed you and I want to be with you”

I looked at him, visibly repulsed by the way he could say such things without even thinking it through. Then again, he never thought anything through.

“You say you miss me like you’re not the one that got away.” I was so dine taking whatever shit he through at me. I was so done wit him always acting like he was the victim.

“I... i don’t understand” he even had the nerve to deign innocence. “We had sex Ben, a night that was meant to be passion filled. You knew how much baring my body was and you just up and left! How do you think that makes me feel!”

I found Myself raising my voice each time I spoke. I cursed myself because i told myself that whenever I met him again, I wasn’t going to believe him again

“I can explain, something came up.”

I rolled my eyes and scoffed “oh, I know exactly what happened alright, Emily seemed to have filled me in real nicely.” I saw his face pale a bit before he masked it again. It could have been that I was the one that was imagining things through.

“Fine, I know I had no excuse, but trust me, I don’t know what Emily told you but it’s not true.” He seemed to have noticed the disbelief on my face because he added. “look, Elias and I had a fall out about work related issues and then he and Em planned to ruin our relationship” he gestured to the two of us.

I found that hard to believe. Why would Elias want to ruin our friendship that way? He had no reason to, had already apologised .. it just didn’t make sense that he would go through such lengths to make sure that he ruined what we had just recently started to build.

“Fine then. Where were you?”

“I was witness my family, their death anniversary was three days ago and I couldn’t find it in me to leave them so soon. I can show them to you if you want”

I felt something in the pits of my stomach. He never actually told me about them, it was just once when he mentioned them and when Emily mentioned them to me.

“oh,” I was torn whether or not to believe him or to believe the evidence that was sent to me. I mean there was no way he could be lying about his family, right?

“Only if you’re comfortable with me seeing them.” He nodded, leading me to the car

We got to the graveyard it was deathly silent. “Hey mum, hey dad, my girlfriend came to visit”

I watched him talk his parents and gist them all about his day. It took a while but I couldn’t bring myself to say anything. I felt like I was intruding a very personal moment.

“ready?” he looked at me with slightly puffed eyes, and I just nodded.

The drive home was silent, with two of us at the back seat while Arnold drove silently.

“how did you find where i was staying?”

I asked after a while. It got me curious. There was no way he could have known where I was staying. I was staying far away from where his house was

“Because” he said carrying my hand and putting it in his. “I’ll always find you where ever you go” he said smiling at me. I pulled my hand away from him.

“I am serious Ben, how did you find out where i was?”

He sighed, taking his hands out of mine.

“I asked around, and I got to know that you’re here. Happy?”

I looked at him not believing a dingle word that he had said but I decided not to say anything.

We got back to my house then he looked at me to the house, displeasure written all across his face. “I’m not comfortable with you staying here, I want you far away from here. Its not safe” I shook my head no. There was no way I was going back to that house. There were just too much memories I was not ready to unbox yet by going back to that house.

“good night Ben”

“you’ll come home to me Ally, one way or another. I would make sure of it.” I decided not to say anything about it. Instead I walked back into my house. Kaya greeting me, oblivious to what had transpired outside of this house.
