Chapter 25- Second Training
The next day we went to the training room early as we had to start training as early as we can.
We were given a small bag full of dagger inside for the training. I took one and touched the edge of it that quickly cut the tip of my finger. It was too sharp.
"Listen up," Isaac said to get our attention. We looked at him at the same time. "Do you see these shooting ranges?" He pointed to what was behind him. I was amazed.
I thought I wouldn't see things like that, I usually see those on action movies. There is a human-shaped shooting target in the distance, and we need to throw the dagger to the bull's eye.
For police or for people who want to recreationally shoot, they used the shooting range for practice.
"This training is for our senses to be sharper even when our eyes are covered. With the daggers we are holding, we need to hit the center of the human shooting target. But the catch is, we are wearing a blindfold while doing this. Five bull's eye and we're done training. But if you can't finish it, you won't stop training."
I swallowed, what if I couldn't? Then I'll stay here all day long? Is that what he's trying to say? Please, tell me it isn't.
"Let's start!" I flinched when Isaac yelled. Now I am nervous. We were separated then Isaac told us to wear the blindfold. He positioned us and my hand won't stop trembling when I felt there's something in front of me.
"Our training starts..." I was even more nervous when Isaac said that. "...now!"
I quickly extended my hand and I felt a table in front of me. I grabbed a dagger and threw it straight away, but the alarm sounded signaling that I had missed the throw.
I took one again and this time I tried to sharpen my senses, but the alarm still rung, I missed again. A few minutes later an alarm went off.
"Isaac Villanueva, mission accomplished." I was stunned. Has he done five bull's eyes while I can't even throw properly?
I picked up the dagger again and threw it but no matter what I did, it still failed. "Come on!" I shouted in annoyance.
Once again, the alarm from the others signaled that someone had finished again. “Kurt Calyx Scott, mission accomplished."
They finished one by one. I had no intention of being left out, so I calmed myself down. I can't see anything, but I need to feel more, and I should trust my instinct.
When I calmed down, I took two daggers and released them at the same time. The alarm did not ring so I smiled. Finally! I threw twice in a row and my alarm went off.
"Althea Genovie, mission accomplished." I smiled and removed my blindfold. The human shooting target went toward me and I took it. I've done well.
They cheered me out when we got out of the training room. "You did a great job, 'Thea."
I smiled, thanks to them I could able keep up.
----------
All the students were summoned to the grand hall and my hand was shaking. We will be officially introduced today in front of all the students of Alexandria Academy.
We were on the side of the stage waiting for Mrs. Scott to call us from the stage. Andrei's group was on the other side, opposite to us.
"This year's players from our Academy..." Mrs. Scott spoke we can hear her that made me nervous even more.
I am not used to this kind of attention, so I am even more nervous than I am when I first got here. We are wearing formal attire and I'm not used to it. I feel like I'll throw up anytime. I hate stage frights.
"Kristian Nicholai. Nineteen years old, he's one of the Fighters." Everyone in the hall applauded. Kristian went up on stage and took a vow. "From Magical University's group, Joshua Martinez. Nineteen years old, one of the Fighters." Just as Kristian did, so did Joshua and he side with Kristian.
"From Alexandria Academy's Group, Lydia Hawkins, nineteen years old, she's the shooter." Students applauded. Lydia smiled and walked over to Kristian's side. "From Magical University's Group, Kaye Yllona, twenty years old, the shooter." The courage in their auras is remarkable even when they are just walking toward the stage. They're intimidating more than usual.
"From Alexandria Academy's group, Cathryn Dela Fuente, nineteen years old, the healer." Cath smiled and walked to the stage then she bowed down. "From Magical University's group, Sophia Fatima, eighteen years old, the healer." Sophia walked steadily without emotion on her face and did not even vow.
"From Alexandria Academy's group, Kurt Calix Scott, twenty years old, he's one of the fighters." Kurt walked towards the stage with his familiar genuine smile. "From Magical University's group, Elvin Bautista, twenty years old, one of the fighters." Elvin smiled and walked up the stage.
I swallowed especially when I knew I was next. "From Alexandria Academy's group, Althea Genovie, eighteen years old, the hoaxer." I walked to the stage and I heard people applauding. When I got close to Kristian, they smiled at me and Cath held my hand so that I would not be nervous. I can't even look at the sea of students watching us today. "From Magical University's group, Amanda Gonzales, twenty years old, the hoaxer." Amanda walked and looked over to me, smiling and with a strange expression on her face.
I closed my eyes trying to calm myself, but I opened my eyes the moment Mrs. Scott introduced Isaac, "From Alexandria Academy's group, Isaac Smith-Villanueva, twenty years old, his position is The Team's Leader."
I looked at him. Watching him as he ascends the stage. He's paved the way. He deserves where he is right now. He bowed down and his green was flickering, and I couldn't help but notice how attractive he is wearing a black coat and tie and a black long sleeve inside.
"From Magical University's group, Andrei Phoenix, twenty years old, his position is The Team's Leader." Andrei walked toward the stage and as usual, his dark blue long sleeves were kind of unbutton and his chest was slightly revealed. He bowed down and smirk then he walked toward his teammate.
The people applauded when all the members were introduced. "They are the ones who will fight in the upcoming Tournament. Let us give them a round of applause once again!" Mrs. Scott said, and the crowd started to clap again.
I looked at Andrei's group they were talking but Amanda was staring intently at me. She smiled, but there was something strange about her smile that made me nervous even more. It was as if she has something to say to me.
