Chapter 26 26
Chapter 26 26
Derek’s POV
Standing before Amanda I felt the urge to smack her across her face and toss her out of my living room, but I tried to control the anger I felt.
“Who let you into my house? I warned my bodyguards never to Let strangers into my house, but they would never listen, when I'm done with you every one of them would be fired!!” I lashed out staring at Amanda who stood a few inches away from me.
She fondled her dress looking at the ground,
“Please don't fire them, Derek, I told them we were best friends and that was how they let me in. Why are you so angry to see me? Do you hate me so much, Derek?” her soft voice echoed in my sitting room.
Right now, this was the last place I wanted to be in, Can’t I have peace in my house anymore? I asked no one in particular.
“Amanda you have no right to come into my home uninvited, if I needed a companion I have Lily. So I need you to get your things and leave my house quietly to avoid any more trouble.” I snapped staring intently at her.
Her eyelids flickered, and she replied,
“Oh please, Derek! I just got here, and now you want me to leave. I came to visit you and see how you are doing, the news of the case in court is everywhere, and I was only looking out for my friend.”
I scoffed, running my fingers through my hair as she sounded unbelievable right now,
“I'm here to make sure you are fine, even after seeing your ex-wife. Also, I came to spend some time with my soon-to-be stepdaughter. Earlier, before you returned we were bonding already Derek. I bought her so many gifts and do you know the fun part she loved them, instantly I knew she would make a beautiful stepdaughter.” Amanda added, grinning widely.
“How dare you try to steal your way into my family? And what do you mean by getting my daughter gifts? I hope it is not what I'm thinking…” my words trailed off.
Immediately I turned around walking briskly towards Lily’s room, What stupid gift was she talking about?” I asked myself silently, without sparing a glance at Amanda.
Pushing the door open, I saw my daughter with different toys in a fancy bag. Lily was munching happily from a chocolate bar, her clothes and cheeks were smeared with the chocolate, “Daddy Look!” she smiled at me stretching out the chocolate bar.
My irritation increased seeing how Lily was happy getting a gift from Amanda, but it wasn't going to last. Striding towards her, I quickly grabbed the chocolate bar from her small hands.
Suddenly, Lily started crying, thrashing around her room. “Give it back Daddy, it belongs to Lily! Aunty A… Amanda gave it to Lily!” she wailed, tears streaming down her eyes.
Without sparing my daughter another glance, I turned towards her maid,
“How dare you defy my orders? Haven’t I warned you not to let Lily take things from strangers? Not only that but you watched her play with a stranger in the sitting room and even accept a chocolate bar. Have you lost your mind?” I thundered, staring at the maid.
She stuttered heavily while her hands kept shaking,
“S… sir… the lady told me she is Lily’s stepmother. She went ahead to show me pictures of the both of you together, I had no choice but to obey her instruction. I do not want to lose my job, please sir forgive me!” the maid pleaded looking so pale all of a sudden.
Sighing I stared at her helplessly shivering, “Take my daughter to my room and make sure she takes a bath! Now leave…” I ordered.
The maid moved closer to Lily who was sprawled across the ground crying her eyes out, instantly I longed to pacify her and make sure she got all the chocolate in the fridge.
Lily fought with the maid asking me to give it back, but then I tossed the chocolate bar into the trash along with the toys Amanda got for her.
Amanda’s voice caught my attention, turning around she stood a few inches away from the door while the maid held Lily out of the room.
“Why are you doing this to the poor girl? Give it back, Derek, it’s not fair making Lily cry so hard for a chocolate bar.”
Taking long strides across the room, I stood a few inches away from Amanda while clenching my fist so hard,
“Who gave you the right to tell me how to react to my daughter, huh?”
Her lips quivered while she gazed at me with fear evident in her eyes,
“This should be the last time I see you anywhere around my daughter or this house. I don't love you Amanda, we were just friends I'm warning you now stay clear from my daughter and me. If I see you close to her, I would be forced to take a severe measure to keep you away. Have I made myself clear?” I inquired sternly.
“How can you say that Derek? I love you so much, and I need you in my life. Aria is gone for good this time you get used to that fact, you are a lonely Alpha who needs a strong Luna…”
Interrupting her, I replied rudely, “What makes you think you are even fit to be my Luna? Aria is ten times better than you and I will choose her over and over again!! Get that into your thick skull.”
Her eyes glistened with tears as she tried to say, “Think of your daughter, Lily. She needs a mother figure in her life, just get married to me, Derek.”
Amanda advanced towards me placing her hands on my chest, the rage I've been trying to hold coursed through my veins. I yanked her hand away from my chest and snapped,
“Get your filthy hands away from my body!!” shoving her in anger Amanda ended up hitting her head against the wall.
“I did not mean to…” I said, trailing off when I heard that sweet voice call out my name from the hallway.
“Daddy…”
