Chapter 15 15
Chapter 15 15
Derek POV
The room felt the burn of my anger when I received Aria’s package. My eyes turned bloodshot. It was as if she asked for my head or my pack.
But how dare she summon me to go to court for Lily’s custody?
After everything she did? After she left us for another man? I was furious.
How dare she try to snatch Lily from me?
“I-is something wrong?” The housekeeper stuttered beside me. I could see the fear I had instilled in her.
“Stay out of it!” I snapped at her before turning towards my room. But the moment I made a turn, my gaze fell on a familiar figure who was standing a little far away from me, hugging her stuffed animal tightly close to her heart. Her eyes were red and puffy. It was stained with little tears. Had seen been crying?
“L- Lily?” I paused for a while.
I never imagined she could have been awake. I never knew what when she arrived right beside me was.
I immediately dropped the box down on the table.
“Is anything wrong, sweetie? Did you have a bad dream?” I softened my voice and moved closer to Lily, but she burst out into more tears, and I watched her finger-flickering.
The moment I reached her side, I crouched to her size, staring into her deep blue eyes.
“It’s okay,” I whispered and pulled her into a hug.
“Is Daddy fighting with anyone?” Lily cried into my arms.
I paused for a while.
“I’m not fighting with anyone, Lily; you should be rest assured,” I patted her back.
If only she knew I was getting angry because of her. Her mother was just trying to snatch her away from me after abandoning her.
I gently pulled out of the hug and turned back to the housekeeper.
“Please take her to her room and get her prepared for school,” I told her.
“I will do that, sir.” She immediately walked up to our side.
“Let’s go, little Alpha.” She grabbed Lily’s hand and took her to her room.
I walked back to the chair and grabbed the package Aria had sent. My gaze scanned through the letter again, and my anger increased.
I suddenly sat on one of the sofas and laughed devilishly.
She will regret ever sending me this!
I got on my seat and went to my room. I started getting prepared for work. The more I think about the little package, the more angry I become.
When I was done dressing up, I went to the dining table, where I met Lily having her breakfast. I smiled softly and walked towards her.
“Are you enjoying your meal?” I asked her.
She didn’t give any response, but I could see that she was. Lily would have nibbled on her food if she hadn’t. I had seen her nibble mostly, but right now I was the one doing so. The more I remembered about Aria’s behaviour, the more I lost my appetite.
After breakfast was ready, I drove Lily down to school.
“Make sure to be a good girl for Daddy.” I kissed her cheek.
She got out of the car without saying a word. She made her way to the school gate. Lily suddenly stopped and turned at me; she waved a little at me. I was a little surprised, but I immediately waved back at her with a smile on my face.
I watched her retreating figure with a soft smile on my lips until she disappeared into the thin air.
I stepped on the accelerator and drove to my company. The soft smile on my face for Lily had disappeared as I stepped on the accelerator, and now it has been replaced with a dangerous fury.
After the short drive, I arrived at the company. I packed at the underground parking lot before storming toward my office.
“Good morning, sir." I was welcomed by my secretary, but I ignored him.
I pushed the door open and walked toward my seat.
I sat in my chair, and after a short while, a call came in on the office telephone. I picked up immediately, and my receptionist's voice came in.
"Sir, someone is here.” She revealed.
“Let him in,” I mumbled instantly without enquiring who it was.
“B-but sir…” she stuttered
“Just let him in,” I mumbled, and with that, I ended the call.
Of course, I knew who it was.
A knock came on the door the next minute, and I immediately directed the person in without hesitation.
I knew who it was. It was my lawyer.
“Good morning, Alpha Derek.” He welcomed me the moment he stepped into my office.
“You are finally here, lawyer Rayford.” I welcome him. But I don’t have any time for all that.
“She sent me this,” I said immediately, and he sat in front of me. I instantly passed the package Aria had sent to me.
I watched him open up the little letter in it. The man in his late 60s quietly put on his glasses and checked out the content.
After a minute, he gently tore his gaze away from the letter in his hands and looked up at me.
“It’s from the court. She wants your daughter Lily.” Mr. Rayford told me what I had already known.
“I know, but that’s why I called you here,” I told
“There is nothing we can do other than to appear in court. The court already summoned you.” He told me, and my eyes hardened.
I thought things would change once he was here, but they didn’t.
“I’m never going there,” I told him sternly.
“I’m sorry, Alpha, but there is nothing you can do.” He told me, annoying me completely.
A vein popped out of my neck in anger. How could she try to go this way?
“What’s the possibility that I will win?” I asked him quietly.
He sighed, and I already knew it wasn’t anything good. I was more furious, and my eyes became more terrified. After how I had improved my relationship with Lily, why did she choose to appear now?
I grated my teeth in anger. I felt like tearing Lily apart at the moment.
“Sir. You have to...”
Lawsuit Rayford told me, but before he could finish his words, I cut him off.
“I’m never going to allow it to happen. I would rather die than lose Lily!” I told the lawyer.
