Chapter 150
Sophia rushed out of the barn in a panic, and in her confusion, she accidentally twisted her ankle.
"James, I'm here!"
This time Sophia's voice clearly reached James's ears. He immediately identified the direction, his brow furrowed tight, his expression serious, and ran toward the barn.
"Sophia, don't be scared, I'm coming!"
At this moment, James didn't care about anything else and ran straight toward the barn with big strides.
After breaking free from her restraints, Sophia ran while shouting James's name loudly.
"James, James..."
But she had completely run out of strength. As Sophia called out James's name, she stumbled and lost her balance, falling straight down.
She lay on the cold ground, weakly opening her eyes. In a daze, she seemed to see James's tall figure running toward her, and then she lost consciousness.
James rushed over and saw Sophia's pale face and cracked lips. His heart ached immediately, and he frantically picked Sophia up.
Just then, the man who had kidnapped Sophia caught up from behind.
"Hey kid, I'm warning you not to stick your nose where it doesn't belong. I'm telling you, we brought this woman here. If you want to take her away, you'll have to get through me first."
James frowned, looking at the fat-faced man in front of him with complete disdain.
"You're trafficking people and still acting all righteous about it? You think I can't deal with you? Let me tell you, today is your last day."
After saying this, James pulled out his phone from his pocket and called David.
David and Evelyn were searching everywhere when they saw James's call and quickly answered.
"Mr. Smith, how is it? Do you have any news?"
James stared coldly at the man in front of him, then spoke calmly.
"Yes, I've found Sophia. She's in a barn in the southeast of the village. Come over now."
David immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
"Okay, Mr. Smith, we'll be right there."
Evelyn stood beside him, staring nervously at David, blinking her big eyes and asking quickly.
"How is it, Assistant Jones? Does Mr. Smith have news?"
David's face showed a hint of joy.
"Yes, Mr. Smith has found Ms. Brown."
Hearing this, Evelyn's eyes lit up immediately. She could hardly believe her ears. They had been searching for Sophia for a whole day, and the sun was about to set.
Evelyn had thought they wouldn't be able to find Sophia in this village, so hearing this news was such a pleasant surprise.
"Really? That's wonderful! Let's hurry and find Mr. Smith."
Evelyn was extremely excited at this moment, wishing she could fly to Sophia's side right away. She wondered what condition Sophia was in now.
David and Evelyn rushed toward the barn without stopping.
Evelyn quickly came to James's side. Seeing Sophia in James's arms, barely breathing and pale-faced, tears immediately fell from her eyes.
"Sophia, are you okay? Sophia, wake up!"
James turned to look at David, his face cold as he ordered, "I'm leaving this to you. These men who kidnapped Sophia - I want them alive."
David nodded firmly.
"I understand, Mr. Smith."
After saying this, James carried Sophia and left immediately, with Evelyn quickly following behind them.
James carried Sophia to the car, gently calling her name.
"Sophia, how are you feeling now? You're safe now, don't be nervous, don't be scared."
Evelyn also rushed forward.
"Sophia, please wake up! What happened to you? Are you hurt?"
Evelyn spoke while crying, so nervous she didn't know what to do.
"Mr. Smith, what do you think happened to Sophia? She's all dirty. Is she injured?"
Right now Sophia was unconscious, so no one knew what had happened.
"From what I can see, Sophia only has some minor external injuries. As for anything else, we'll have to wait until we get back to Emerald City and do a full examination."
James looked down at Sophia's weak breathing and pale face, his heart aching painfully.
"Those damn men actually brought her to such a remote place."
Fortunately, he had found Sophia. If he hadn't, judging by this distance, in another three or four hours they would have reached the mountains. Once they reached the mountains, he might never have seen Sophia again in his entire life.
"These people are absolutely terrible. Mr. Smith, you absolutely can't let them go, especially that Juniper. This isn't the first time she's gone after Sophia."
This time Juniper had hurt Sophia so badly. Not just James - even Evelyn couldn't possibly let her go.
Before, she had thought Juniper's behavior was just minor trouble, and once she was fired, that would be the end of it, and they'd never cross paths again.
But she never expected that Juniper would be so cruel and do something so harmful.
This time, no matter what, they couldn't let Juniper go.
Just now everyone had gotten out of the car to search for Sophia, so only Juniper was alone in the trunk. Now hearing their conversation, Juniper knew Sophia had been found and immediately panicked.
She kicked hard at the trunk, trying to get the attention of the people outside.
Evelyn didn't know Sophia's current condition, and hearing the noise, she got angry. She went straight to the back of the car, opened the trunk, and kicked without hesitation.
"Juniper, what are you doing? Can you be quiet for a moment?"
Seeing the trunk open, Juniper gestured for Evelyn to remove the cloth from her mouth.
Evelyn stepped forward and pulled the thing aside.
"What do you want to say? Want to apologize to Sophia?"
Juniper looked pitiful.
"Evelyn, I just heard that Sophia has been found, right? Can I go see her?"
Evelyn laughed coldly.
"Why do you want to see Sophia? Do you know how badly you've hurt her? If I were you, I wouldn't have the face to see her right now."
Juniper knew her plan had completely failed, so now she just wanted to beg for forgiveness as soon as possible.
If Sophia's condition wasn't good when they got back to Emerald City, wouldn't James blame everything on her?
