Chapter 111
Hayden had already been looking at her with displeasure these past few days. If she was late to work today, he would definitely give her a hard time.
James, who had been waiting quietly downstairs, suddenly heard hurried footsteps from upstairs. He looked up and saw Sophia running down in a panic.
Sophia was running while still putting on her clothes, her hair somewhat messy. It was obvious she had just woken up and didn't even have time to wash her face.
"Why are you rushing like that? What if you fall?"
Standing nearby, Finn was shocked when he heard the noise from upstairs. Only then did he realize there was actually a woman upstairs.
He looked carefully and was surprised to see it was Sophia. Seeing this scene, Finn suddenly had a moment of clarity.
No wonder James was acting so unusual this morning. Now that he saw Sophia, everything made sense.
Every time their James saw Sophia, he would act particularly unusual. It seemed James had gotten up early to cook breakfast for Sophia.
At this thought, Finn couldn't help but smile. So their James was finally willing to get a girlfriend.
Sophia ran downstairs and shot James a fierce look.
"James, why didn't you wake me up when you got up? Your work is work, but my work isn't work?"
This James actually had the mood to sit there eating. In a bit, when she got to the Brown Group, she would inevitably get scolded by Hayden.
Although Sophia said this, James remained calm and unhurried. He patted the chair next to him.
"What's the rush? Sit down and eat breakfast."
Good thing he had timed it right and reheated everything. Now that Sophia came down, the temperature was just right.
"I'm not eating. You eat. I need to leave right away. By the way, aren't you going to the office? Why don't you just give me a ride? From your villa, it takes a while to walk out and get a cab."
Sophia couldn't drive that Rolls-Royce every day. After all, it was a limited edition luxury car. If she really angered James one day and he demanded compensation, that would be trouble.
That car was worth more than her life. If James made her pay for it, even selling herself wouldn't be worth the price of that car.
"Of course I go to work every day, but I'm going after I finish breakfast. And let me tell you, if you don't eat breakfast today, I won't let you leave here."
James had worked hard all morning. How could he easily let Sophia leave?
He not only wanted Sophia to eat breakfast, but to eat well. Most importantly, he wanted Sophia to give him a good review.
Seeing James's particularly stern tone, Finn quickly stepped forward.
He was really anxious. James had finally figured things out and knew to get a girlfriend. He didn't want this Sophia to be scared away by James's cold attitude.
Finn walked up with a pleasant expression and quickly pulled out a chair.
"Ms. Brown, this breakfast was specially made by our Mr. Smith who got up early to cook for you. I know you're in a hurry to get to work, but please eat a little."
Sophia was slightly stunned. She had to admit, Finn spoke much more pleasantly than James.
Originally, Sophia wanted to just leave, but on second thought, she understood James's personality better than anyone. Since he made it himself, if she didn't eat, James wouldn't let her leave.
So Sophia gave up struggling and sat down at the table. Looking at the rich breakfast in front of her, she couldn't help but raise her eyebrows.
She really didn't expect this James could actually cook.
Sophia was somewhat skeptical. She casually picked up an egg pancake and took a big bite.
She really didn't expect James's cooking to be quite good.
Then Sophia cut into a fried egg and took a bite. It was indeed quite tasty, and there was a thin layer of ketchup sprinkled on the egg, giving it a sweet and sour taste that suited her appetite perfectly.
She had gone to bed too late last night, so she was indeed quite hungry this morning. Sophia picked out what she liked and ate several more bites.
After eating, she wiped her mouth and gave a simple review.
"James, your cooking is actually pretty good, but next time don't make so much. Right after waking up in the morning, you can't eat too much. Isn't making such a big spread just wasteful?"
After saying this, Sophia stood up directly.
"I'm done eating. Can I leave now?"
She was already late. Even though she was talking to James right now, her mind kept thinking about how to explain to Hayden when she got to the office.
She had always been diligent at the company before, not giving Hayden any reason to criticize her. Hayden had already been displeased with her these past few days. If she was late today, he would definitely blow up at her.
Seeing that Sophia had eaten a lot, James nodded with satisfaction. While she was eating, James had quietly noted down all the things Sophia liked to eat.
"I'll be done eating soon. I'll take you there in a bit."
After saying this, James elegantly took out a napkin, wiped his mouth, and stood up.
After the two of them left, Finn quickly went forward and had the servants clear the table. Only after getting closer did he see that the breakfast James made really looked quite professional. No wonder Ms. Brown ate so much.
"I really didn't expect it. Mr. Smith actually has a day when he gets a girlfriend. I think James and this Ms. Brown really have a chance of being together."
Finn had watched James grow up. Seeing that James was really dating, he was so happy he couldn't stop smiling.
James drove Sophia to the Brown Group. After parking the car, he asked softly, "You're late today. Do you need me to go up with you?"
It was just a small matter of being late. James could solve it with just a word. He asked this way just to see if Sophia actually needed him.
Sophia didn't even think about it and shook her head firmly.
"No need. I can handle my own matters myself."
Being rejected so flatly by Sophia, James felt a bit hurt. Why did her tone make it sound like he was meddling in her business?
"Fine, then go handle it yourself."
After getting out of the car, Sophia walked straight into the Brown Group. She thought that once she got back to her workstation, she could slip in unnoticed.
But unexpectedly, as soon as she turned on her computer, Veda walked right over.
"Sophia, which man were you fooling around with last night? You didn't come to work until 9 AM. Did that man keep pestering you and not let you leave?"
