Chapter 110
Because they had been up all night, Sophia was sleeping particularly soundly in the morning.
James slowly opened his eyes and looked at Sophia sleeping beside him, instantly feeling an overwhelming sense of warmth.
Ever since he took over the Smith Group, it had caused dissatisfaction among several of his brothers in the Smith family. So even though he wasn't married, he still moved out of the Smith Manor.
Although those brothers didn't live at the Smith Manor with Aiden, they would come back from time to time. Every time they met, it would be very awkward and could even lead to some unnecessary conflicts.
So James had chosen a villa for himself in the city center early on, staying away from all the drama of the Smith family.
This villa was too big and too quiet. Every day, aside from a few servants and the butler Finn, there was basically no one around. Those servants and Finn didn't really talk to him much either.
James often felt that living alone in this villa gave him a sense of desolation.
Today, although Sophia was still lying in bed and hadn't gotten up yet, with the sunlight falling on her bright face, he felt like the entire room was filled with sunshine.
The room wasn't warm because of the sunlight, but because having Sophia there made it feel warm.
James couldn't help but reach out with his slender fingers to gently touch Sophia's smooth little face. Sophia, nestled in the blanket, made a soft murmur.
Just this simple moment made James feel incredibly happy.
In this huge villa, there was just one more person, that's all. James didn't know why he felt this way.
After getting up, he carefully checked Sophia's wound.
Good, the wound had been healing fairly well these past couple of days.
Although reluctant to leave, James still got up, changed into casual home clothes, and headed to the kitchen.
As soon as he walked into the kitchen, both Finn and the chef were startled. Why would James come to a place full of cooking fumes like the kitchen?
"Mr. Smith, why did you come in here? Just tell me what you want to eat. It's really smoky in here."
James, who had been pampered since childhood and never had to lift a finger, had never been in the kitchen before.
As soon as he walked in, he was stunned. He could handle the huge Smith Group with ease, but he felt a bit lost in his own kitchen.
"It's fine, you and the chef can leave. I'll make breakfast myself today."
As soon as he finished speaking, Finn's eyes widened in surprise, looking at James with a strange expression.
"Mr. Smith, are you okay? Is our chef's breakfast not to your taste? Should I find a few new chefs to interview later?"
Hearing Finn's words, the chef standing nearby immediately became nervous, feeling like he was walking on thin ice.
But James responded calmly.
"No, the chef's cooking is quite good. I just want to cook myself today, that's all. You can go now."
Although James was acting a bit strange today, Finn had watched him grow up and could tell that James was in a good mood today. In the past, he would just give orders directly, but today he patiently explained things to him.
Although Finn found it very strange, he didn't dare ask any more questions. He turned and signaled the chef to leave with him.
After the two left the kitchen, the chef asked nervously with a worried face.
"Finn, what's going on? Is my cooking really that bad? Can't even get breakfast right?"
The chef couldn't help but tremble thinking about what just happened.
He had been working at James's villa for so many years. Although he rarely saw James in person, he had almost never heard Finn say that his cooking wasn't good or that James didn't want to eat it.
At this moment, Finn also looked troubled. James was indeed acting strange today. Although he was used to fine dining, he wasn't very picky about food. What was going on today?
"It's okay, don't worry. Didn't Mr. Smith just say it's not about your cooking? Maybe he just had a sudden whim."
Although Finn said this, the chef was extremely worried.
This was the first time in all his years working here that he didn't have to make breakfast. Oh my god, was he about to be fired?
After James entered the kitchen, he first observed how to use the various cooking utensils, then downloaded an app on his phone specifically for cooking.
He was extremely smart. Although he had never cooked before, he could learn many things quickly, not to mention something as simple as breakfast.
In no time, he had prepared a very hearty breakfast. Since he didn't know what Sophia liked to eat, he made a little bit of everything he saw in the app.
After finishing, he brought the breakfast to the dining table, sat down and quietly worked on his computer while waiting for Sophia to wake up.
Standing not far away, Finn and the chef watched James's actions with suspicious looks on their faces. They were both very surprised.
"Finn, why isn't Mr. Smith eating the breakfast he made?"
Finn shook his head.
"I'm not really sure either. Let's go check the kitchen. After all, this is Mr. Smith's first time cooking. Who knows what state the kitchen is in?"
Actually, what Finn was most worried about now was James's breakfast. James had such a delicate stomach - what if eating this breakfast made him sick?
James just waited quietly like this. Time passed bit by bit, and it was already time to go to work, but Finn noticed that James still showed no sign of eating, which made him even more puzzled.
James was usually very punctual about going to work. Although the Smith Group was his family's business, James was a very principled person. And when he needed to work overtime, even David couldn't persuade him to stop.
What was going on today?
Finn was very confused but didn't dare to go ask.
Meanwhile, the chef went to inspect the kitchen and found that although James had used various utensils, he had neatly put them back in their proper places after using them.
This scene completely stunned him. No one would have expected that James, who usually had such a temper, would be so orderly.
The warm morning sun fell on Sophia's pretty little face. Because she hadn't slept well all night, after James left in the morning, her body relaxed and she slept particularly soundly.
When she opened her eyes, it was already nine o'clock in the morning.
Sophia glanced at the time displayed on her phone and suddenly jumped up.
"Oh my god, why didn't my alarm go off? I still have to go to work."
Sophia shouted in surprise, hurriedly got out of bed, hastily put on her clothes, and rushed downstairs.
That damn James - he woke up and didn't even wake her up. Did he think that just because he had a company to manage, she didn't have work to do?
