Chapter 101

Chapter 101

"Mr. Smith, what are you doing here?"

James turned around, his eyes narrowing slightly. A dangerous aura washed over her as he looked at the woman with a warning expression. He didn't recognize her at all.

"Who are you?"

Juniper smiled awkwardly. Although James often came to the bar for business meetings, there were many sales staff members selling alcohol there. It was perfectly normal that James didn't remember her.

"Mr. Smith, it's totally normal that you don't recognize me. I'm just someone who sells alcohol at the bar. I happened to be passing by and saw you."

Juniper was riding her electric scooter when she noticed James standing by the roadside looking upset, so she stopped.

Although she was nervous inside, she was a very ambitious person. She knew this was a good opportunity to make an impression on James.

James looked at her with disdain and asked coldly, "So you stopped because you need something?"

James's cold demeanor startled Juniper.

She had always known that James had a bad temper and a cold personality, but facing him directly now, Juniper really couldn't handle it.

"Mr. Smith, it's nothing. I just saw you alone on the street and wondered if you needed any help?"

Hearing this, James became somewhat unhappy. He was the CEO of the Smith Group—what could possibly be difficult for him?

"If something's difficult for me, do you think you could solve it?"

Juniper's face went pale, and she quickly lowered her head, really regretting talking to James.

But even so, Juniper pressed her lips together and gathered her courage to continue.

"Mr. Smith, is there a driver picking you up? If not, how about taking my electric scooter? I can give you a ride home."

As soon as Juniper finished speaking, James's face turned ice cold, and Juniper trembled all over in fear.

Had she lost her mind? How could she say something like that?

How could Mr. Smith possibly ride her electric scooter home?

"I'm counting to three. Get out of my sight. One... two..."

Before James could finish counting to three, Juniper hit the gas and shot away, her back breaking out in a cold sweat.

This James was even scarier than the rumors said.

James watched the cars coming and going around him, getting even more furious. When had he fallen to this point? When had he become so pathetic?

That damn Sophia! She actually left him on the street, and even a little girl selling alcohol dared to mock him.

Just then, James spotted his Rolls-Royce speeding past him.

Sophia was driving with high spirits, her good friend sitting beside her. The two were chatting and laughing, as if they hadn't seen him at all.

"Sophia, come back here!"

James shouted loudly, but the car was going too fast. Sophia inside couldn't hear his voice at all.

However, as Sophia passed by him, she caught sight of James's ridiculous appearance in the rearview mirror, and she couldn't help but smile.

She never expected James would have a day like this.

Sophia felt secretly pleased. Although she knew that what she did today wouldn't lead to good results tomorrow—she had angered James, and he definitely wouldn't let this go—she couldn't think that far ahead right now. She just wanted to enjoy this moment.

Evelyn, sitting in the passenger seat, hadn't noticed James's presence at all. She sat there looking around with curiosity.

"Oh my god, Sophia, did you see that? This is a luxury car! The interior design is so fancy. If it weren't for James, I don't think we'd ever get to ride in a Rolls-Royce in our lifetime."

"I feel like even looking at pictures of this car online is a luxury. It's so fancy, I feel like I'm dreaming."

Sophia found it amusing.

"Evelyn, you better enjoy it while you can, because after today, we might never get to ride in a car like this again."

Sophia knew very well that a big explosion was bound to happen between her and James. It was just a matter of when.

Evelyn glanced at Sophia.

"Sophia, don't think like that. You need to have confidence in yourself. I believe you have what it takes. You'll definitely be able to drive a car like this for the rest of your life. Then I won't have to work—my only job will be serving you, the wealthy wife."

Sophia rolled her eyes at her. Evelyn's imagination was quite nice, but she didn't have the fate to become a wealthy wife.

Back when she was studying while paying for Mia's treatment, she had racked up a lot of debt. Although Mia's surgery was now taken care of, that didn't mean she didn't have to pay James back for fronting the money.

Especially now that she didn't want to accept any grievances from James, she had to find a way to pay back this favor quickly.

While they were talking, both Evelyn and Sophia's phones chimed with notifications.

Since Sophia was driving and couldn't check her phone, Evelyn opened WhatsApp. It was their work group chat, where the bar manager, Allegra had sent a notification to all staff.

"Urgent notice: A big client just arrived at the bar. Everyone needs to come back for overtime now."

After receiving this message, although the employees in the group complained, no one dared to disobey Allegra's order.

They worked part-time selling alcohol at the bar, and sometimes the pay was even higher than regular jobs outside. But that high salary meant working dozens of times harder than people with outside jobs.

Like working late at night, or being on call for overtime at any time during the night.

Evelyn was a bit unhappy, pouting as she said to Sophia, "Are you kidding me? What's going on? Allegra is making us come back for overtime?"

Sophia was puzzled. Although she hadn't been working part-time at the bar as long as Evelyn, in all this time, they rarely had to work overtime.

Because a few of them working part-time worked in shifts, even if customers came to the bar late at night, the sales staff on duty were usually enough.

A situation like today where everyone was called in was really rare.

Sophia was also unhappy.

"She's calling everyone back for overtime? What kind of important client showed up?"

Although important clients often came to the bar, there were really very few who caused such a big fuss.

Evelyn sighed helplessly.

"Forget it, for the sake of work, we have to put up with it. Let's just head to the bar now."

Sophia turned the car around and headed to the bar. To avoid drawing attention, she parked James's car far away from the bar.
