Chapter 100

Chapter 100

Evelyn was recording a video message and said, "Sophia, you gotta come back right now! You won't believe what I just saw—a Rolls-Royce pulled into our neighborhood."

"A Rolls-Royce? That's not something just anyone can afford. When did someone that rich move in around here?"

Sophia, searching for a parking spot, glanced at Evelyn's WhatsApp message and couldn't help but laugh.

She replied directly, "You think I might've driven that car in?"

When Evelyn saw Sophia's message, she was stunned. She blinked her big eyes, unable to believe it.

"What are you talking about? You drove the Rolls-Royce? No way! I know you better than that."

Sophia knew Evelyn would react this way. Given her usual frugal appearance, it was natural for Evelyn to be skeptical.

After driving around the neighborhood several times, Sophia finally found a parking spot. She locked the car and headed upstairs, where Evelyn was already waiting at the door.

Seeing Sophia walk in with a Rolls-Royce key in hand, Evelyn was utterly shocked.

"Sophia, no way! Have you and James moved that fast? He already bought you a car? And a Rolls-Royce, seriously?"

Evelyn grabbed the Rolls-Royce key, admiring it like a rare treasure.

"Oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm holding a Rolls-Royce key in my life."

Sophia couldn't help but laugh at her best friend's reaction.

"Evelyn, are you for real? It's just a car key, and you're this excited? If you love Rolls-Royces that much, I'll take you for a spin."

Evelyn looked at Sophia, shaking her head in amazement.

"Look at you, talking like you're loaded. Guess I get to live the high life just by being friends with you."

Sophia felt a bit helpless. What kind of comparison was that? What did she mean by 'high life'?

"Evelyn, can you have a bit more ambition? And don't get it twisted, that car wasn't a gift from James."

Evelyn raised an eyebrow, even more puzzled. Given Sophia's circumstances, if it wasn't a gift, it had to be rented or borrowed, and the only one with that kind of money around her was James.

"So, what's the deal?"

"James was driving the car, we had an argument, and I kicked him out and drove off with it."

Hearing this, Evelyn was stunned, completely speechless.

"What? Sophia, do you realize what you're saying? You kicked James out of the car and drove off with it? How is that different from being a bandit? Aren't you afraid he'll call the cops?"

Seeing Evelyn's shocked expression, Sophia thought it was no big deal. Dealing with a guy like James required such measures.

"I drove it, so what? Why make a big deal out of it? Besides, Evelyn, you don't know what James did to me. He went way too far."

Evelyn kept admiring the Rolls-Royce key, thinking that even the key felt luxurious.

"I think no matter what he did, it can be forgiven because of this car."

Sophia felt helpless. Was Evelyn really going to betray her over a car? She used to be on her side.

"Oh my God, Evelyn, can you have some dignity? If you keep talking like this, I won't take you for a ride."

Evelyn was startled and quickly waved her hands.

"I won't say another word, I promise. Just take me for a ride in your luxury car. This might be my only chance in life, but even once is enough for me."

Evelyn spoke pitifully.

Sophia pretended to be impatient.

"Evelyn, don't be so negative. As long as James doesn't take the car back, I can take you for a ride anytime. But if he does take it back tomorrow, then today is indeed the last time for both of us."

They chatted as they walked out the door, and Sophia drove around Emerald City with Evelyn.

Seeing that James's gas tank was full, Sophia drove aimlessly for a long time.

"By the way, Sophia, when is your mom's surgery scheduled?"

Talking about her mom Mia's surgery made Sophia angry.

"Evelyn, don't mention it. I had a fight with Chase today, and I don't know what he said to my mom, but now she's decided not to have the surgery."

Evelyn frowned, finding it hard to believe.

"What? Your mom decided not to have the surgery? That's not okay. You've been planning this for a long time. How can she just change her mind?"

"Besides, her health won't hold up without the surgery. It's the only way for her to get better."

Sophia sighed deeply in frustration.

"Exactly. My mom probably thinks she's a burden to me, so she decided not to go through with it."

Evelyn was furious.

"What is Chase's problem? Is he trying to make your life harder? Before, we couldn't afford the surgery, but now that James is helping with the money, we can't miss this chance. Your mom's health can't wait."

Sophia and Evelyn continued to chat about recent events as they drove, and Sophia felt much better after venting.

Otherwise, everything that happened today would have weighed heavily on her.

Meanwhile, James, after being kicked out of the car by Sophia, was fuming on the street, kicking a trash can.

"That damn woman! She left me on the street. This is too much."

James had never been treated like this in his life. Today was a first, and his phone was still in the car, and he had no money on him. How was he supposed to get home?

Just then, he heard a woman's voice from behind him.
