Chapter 175
She said she had a terminal illness, that Tamsin had sent people to kill her, and she handed over the voice recorder with both hands, but Martin didn't even care. His eyes were always so cold, so emotionless.
Yet with Mia, he was so gentle and tender!
Martin, you're not even divorced yet. You're still a married man. Acting all lovey-dovey with her like this. Have you considered my feelings at all?
This question kept screaming inside Victoria's heart.
How could he care?
If he cared, he wouldn't treat her this way, wouldn't speak so harshly to her, wouldn't wish for her death, wouldn't make her apologize to his mistress.
Victoria lowered her eyes and looked away. She didn't want to watch anymore, because the sight of him feeding her was too painful to bear!
She wanted to turn around and leave right then, but she couldn't. Hayden had already received a critical condition notice. She was out of options!
She could only watch helplessly as she apologized to and begged for mercy from her son's killer!
There was no escaping it—this was her fate.
Victoria laughed bitterly. Her fingers just couldn't push open that hospital room door.
Using all her strength, the door finally opened.
Victoria pressed her lips together and deliberately avoided looking at the two of them.
Looking at the floor, she walked into the room.
In her ears was Mia's sharp, panicked voice, piercing her eardrums!
"Get out! Get out! Martin, make her leave!" Mia screamed hysterically.
Victoria frowned and finally looked up.
How ridiculous—wasn't she the one who told her to come? Why was she acting so scared now?
Mia looked extremely distressed, her face full of tension and fear as she hid behind Martin, her delicate body trembling violently.
Victoria sneered. Anyone who didn't know better would think she'd done something terrible.
Martin looked at Mia with gentle eyes, lightly patting her back with his arm, speaking to her softly and soothingly, calming her emotions.
This scene was truly ironic.
Victoria's fingers clenched tightly. Martin was her husband, yet she had to watch him comfort another woman!
When she and Martin used to argue, he treated her the same way—extremely gentlemanly, extremely considerate.
Then, after Hayden's accident, he changed.
She never understood how a perfectly fine person could change overnight into someone she didn't recognize, someone who became a stranger.
Turns out love never disappears—it just transfers!
Martin had transferred his affection for her to Mia.
After Martin calmed Mia down, he raised his cold, jade-like eyes to look at Victoria, immediately noticing her smirk and scoff.
His handsome brows furrowed, "I told you to come apologize. What are you laughing at?"
"Martin, I don't want to see her. I'm scared. Make her leave, okay?" Mia cried and trembled. The phrase "tearful beauty" perfectly described her right now.
Martin reached out and patted the back of her hand, "Don't be afraid, I'm here with you."
Victoria's heart sank even deeper.
Martin had said those same words to her before.
Now he was saying them to someone else.
"If you're going to apologize, hurry up. Leave when you're done! Can't you see she's afraid of you?" Martin looked at Victoria with displeasure.
Victoria laughed coldly, "She's done something wrong, of course, she's scared!"
"Victoria!" Martin's voice rose sharply as he snapped at her.
Victoria shut up.
She saw Mia hiding behind Martin, looking at her with challenging eyes, but Mia's voice was soft and pitiful, "Martin, just forget it. I don't need her apology anymore."
"She did something wrong; she should apologize to you. You're only asking for an apology—that's already very generous of you," Martin said in a deep voice.
Martin actually didn't want Victoria to apologize either—after all, Victoria was his wife.
But Victoria had done this thing, and if Mia pursued it, Victoria would definitely face a lawsuit and might even go to prison.
If an apology could settle all this trouble and appease Mia, why not?
So Martin could only put on an act, deliberately being harsh to Victoria in front of Mia to make Mia feel better.
"What are you still standing there for? Don't even know how to apologize? Need someone to teach you?" Martin said impatiently to Victoria.
Victoria blinked her dry eyes and pressed her lips together.
He was actually yelling at her like this, being so impatient with her, all for Mia's sake.
With her temper, she really wanted to go up and slap that bitch a few times, then turn around and leave!
But given her current situation, she no longer had that confidence or courage.
Thinking of this, Victoria took a breath and spoke with difficulty, "Mia, I'm sorry."
"An apology needs to be sincere. You think just saying 'sorry' is enough?"
"Bow to her! Show genuine remorse!"
"If you don't do it right once, we'll do it several times! You can only leave when I see your sincerity!"
Faced with Martin's pressure, Victoria was stunned for a moment, looking at him for a long while.
He clearly looked just like when they first met, so why did his words sound so strange?
It made Victoria feel like she never really knew Martin at all!
"What are you looking at? Don't try to stall for time!"
"Victoria, if you want your father to continue getting treatment, do as I say!" Martin deliberately acted annoyed with her.
He was threatening her with Hayden again!
This was his usual trick, and Victoria had no choice but to fall for it.
In the past, she had been strong-willed, never bowing to anyone, never apologizing to anyone.
But now... She took a breath, forcibly suppressing the bitterness in her heart, bent down, bowed, her voice devout, indifferent, with not a trace of emotion.
"I'm sorry, Mia. It's my fault. I shouldn't have been jealous of you, shouldn't have blamed you for breaking up my family with Martin, shouldn't have cut your face with a knife and caused you to get depression."
"Please forgive me this one foolish mistake."
Victoria paused for a moment, then continued, "I don't want Martin anymore. I'm giving him to you. I don't want to be Mrs. Collins anymore either. I wish you a happy marriage and many children. This is my sincerity. Please be merciful and forgive me this once."
Hiding behind Martin, Mia watched the always high-and-mighty Victoria finally bow her head and admit her mistakes. Her heart felt incredibly satisfied.
Because all along, it had been her flattering Victoria, her constantly apologizing!
Turns out the feeling of being superior was so intoxicating. Although Victoria didn't die this time, being able to trample on the dignity she valued most wasn't bad either.
Mia glanced at Martin.
His face looked increasingly grim, veins bulging on his forehead as he glared at Victoria. He didn't know why, but hearing Victoria say she was giving him to Mia made him furious.
"Get out and wait!" His words were sharp and harsh.
Victoria's heart ached, and tears welled up in her eyes.
Not wanting to look pathetic in front of Mia, she turned and ran quickly, left the room, slammed the door, and then sat on a bench outside waiting for Martin to come out.
The tears she couldn't hold back burst forth in an instant.
