Chapter 152
"I just went to handle some work."
Victoria watched Martin lie without batting an eye and sneered, "You really went to handle work?"
"Why have you become so suspicious?" His handsome brows furrowed unconsciously.
Victoria gave a bitter smile. She'd been betrayed!
And he was accusing her of being suspicious?
Victoria closed her eyes, too lazy to deal with him anymore.
Martin's phone rang again. He glanced at the call, his expression changed slightly, then he looked at Victoria lying on the bed with her eyes closed, "I'm going out for a bit. Think about what you want to eat, I'll take you out for dinner when I get back."
Victoria ignored him, but he left anyway.
The bedroom door closed gently.
Victoria felt suffocated. She got up from the bed and stood by the window.
She looked down.
At the hotel entrance stood Mia!
Several suitcases were placed beside Mia.
Victoria wondered if Martin would show up soon.
To verify this guess, she kept standing by the window without moving an inch.
Sure enough, half a minute later.
Martin, wearing a dark suit, came out of the hotel.
He walked toward Mia, and the two talked in low voices about something.
Mia waved her hand, and a taxi pulled up in front of her.
Victoria watched Martin considerately pick up her suitcase and put it in the trunk.
Then he closed the trunk.
Victoria expressionlessly pulled out her phone from her down jacket pocket and snapped a photo of Martin opening the car door for Mia.
Then she drew the curtains, took out a coat from her suitcase, and changed clothes.
Her stomach was growling, she was starving.
Victoria had thought Martin would leave with Mia too, but unexpectedly, a few minutes later, he returned to the presidential suite.
Seeing her changed and ready, a hint of satisfaction showed in his eyes, "What do you want to eat? I'll take you."
"Whatever," Victoria replied halfheartedly.
Victoria loved Mexican food.
So Martin found a Mexican restaurant.
To avoid disturbing their meal, he specially reserved the entire restaurant.
All the servers were there to serve them.
He ordered a table full of dishes.
Victoria was indeed hungry and ate with her head down.
She didn't say a word to Martin, didn't even look at him once.
He must have felt guilty and wanted to ease the tension, so he took the initiative to serve her food.
But Victoria didn't want to ease the tension. She took the food he served and threw it in the trash right in front of him.
"I really did go to handle work. Can't you trust me just once?" Martin's tone was getting annoyed.
He was so busy with work, yet he still put aside the Gonzalez Group's affairs to accompany her on this trip.
But she'd been giving him attitude since they boarded the plane.
Martin really didn't know what Victoria had to feel wronged about.
She was the one who came offering cooperation, she also said she would follow the contract, so why couldn't she just give him a smile?
Victoria had deliberately tried not to think about what happened that afternoon, but now that he brought it up again, she felt like a fool being played by him!
Her tone got heavier too, "Can you not talk while eating?"
"Victoria, have I been too good to you? Is that why you dare talk to me like this?" Martin laughed in anger. He had stomach problems and couldn't eat Mexican food in the first place.
He was specially accompanying her to eat it, and she wasn't even grateful?
For her sake, he even let Mia marry another man!
After doing all this, what more did she want from him?
Don't forget, there were still two lives between them!
The fact that he could compromise this much was already rare.
But Victoria just kept pushing, not considerate of him at all.
In the past, when he talked like this, she would have softened up and tried to appease him.
But the current Victoria kept eating her food, her tone dismissive, "If you say so, then sure."
"Victoria."
"Don't talk while eating."
Victoria interrupted impatiently.
After dinner, back at the presidential suite.
Victoria asked him, "You sleep on the couch, or should I?"
"What? Not even divorced yet and you want to sleep separately?"
"You've been doing it to me for over a year, it's not too much," Victoria rolled her eyes and said wearily, "Whatever, I'll sleep on the couch."
She didn't want to fight.
Right now, she and Martin couldn't afford to fight anymore.
She was about to walk out of the master bedroom.
Martin pulled Victoria back. She looked up to see towering rage in his eyes.
Clearly, he was trying hard to control himself.
"Victoria, are you done yet?"
"Martin, enough is enough," Victoria smiled at him.
Her smile stung Martin's eyes, "What are you smiling about?"
Seeing him keep picking fights, Victoria pulled out her phone, found that candid photo, and shoved it in his face, "Your work is bringing your mistress along when traveling with your wife? Your work is carrying your mistress's luggage and lying through your teeth? Martin, just because I don't say anything doesn't mean I don't know! I just can't be bothered to care, you get it? Now that it's out in the open, aren't you embarrassed?"
"She's not a mistress!" That was what he focused on.
Victoria laughed at him. Of all the things she just said, that's what he noticed?
Sure enough, protecting Mia was his top priority.
Victoria realized she was the clown here.
She pulled her wrist free and rubbed her aching wrist, "Right, I'm the mistress. You two are true love. Sorry for holding you back all these years! You should go travel with her instead, I don't need you here!"
With that, she walked toward the bedroom door.
Martin grabbed Victoria's wrist again, frowning, "That's not what I meant! My relationship with her isn't what you think!"
"I already saw you go into her room this afternoon! A man and woman alone together, what else could you be doing besides that?"
"Let me explain!" Martin's face reddened, urgency flashing in his eyes.
Victoria cut him off with a bitter smile, "I'm not showing you this photo because I have any hope left for you, or because I want to hear your explanation! I just don't want to watch you put on an act. You're not tired of performing, but I'm sick of watching!"
"Victoria, say that again!" He gritted his teeth.
Victoria smiled, "I can say it as many times as you want! Martin, things have changed between us long ago! I don't love you anymore! We only have a contractual relationship! Once I give birth to this child, we'll be even! I don't care about you and Mia, and I don't want to care!"
Martin froze. She said she didn't want to care about him anymore?
She didn't love him anymore?
Martin felt panicked, humiliated, and at a loss. His explanation seemed pale and weak, "I'm saying this for the last time! It's not what you saw! What do I have to say to make you believe me?"
