Chapter 147
The last physical examination report already showed problems.
There's no guarantee this time won't have issues too.
Martin pulled out a napkin and wiped the residue from the corner of his mouth: "I don't think there's any need to change hospitals."
He knew she wanted to get checked at the hospital where Hayden was staying, but both hospitals had the same director.
Terry had worked for him for many years and wouldn't dare alter the examination report. Her wanting to switch hospitals made him suspicious instead - had she bribed a doctor?
Hearing him say this, Victoria's hopeful heart plummeted into an abyss. Right, maybe the fake examination report last time was Martin's idea anyway.
There really was no need to change hospitals.
Victoria didn't continue the conversation. She glumly finished the porridge in her bowl, then went to the walk-in closet and picked out a white down jacket, a pair of straight skinny jeans, and some Martin boots.
It was cold outside, so she also put on a knit hat.
When Martin saw Victoria come out, his gaze moved from her pale, sickly beautiful face and finally settled on her slightly protruding belly under the down jacket.
A faint smile unconsciously appeared at the corner of his mouth.
Then he walked while putting on his black leather gloves.
Victoria silently followed behind him.
They drove to the hospital where she'd had her last examination.
Terry must have received Martin's call in advance, as he was already waiting at the hospital entrance early.
Seeing Martin and Victoria, his attitude was respectful and compliant.
Terry led Victoria to the psychological testing room and had her sit in front of a computer.
A test appeared on the computer screen, all multiple choice questions.
"Mrs. Collins, you should answer within three seconds. That's when the test results are most accurate."
"Okay."
Victoria noticed that all the test questions were about whether she had insomnia, anxiety, or depressive tendencies.
And her first instinct was to choose all the dangerous options!
After finishing the questionnaire, Terry asked about her sleep situation.
Victoria talked at length. She noticed Terry's expression becoming increasingly serious, his brow furrowing.
After completing the psychological test, she had a prediction - unless she was wrong, she probably had a mental health issue!
Walking out of the testing room, Martin stood at the end of the hallway by the window, smoking.
The dazzling, golden sunlight fell on him, making him glow with an unreal brilliance.
Even though he was such a beast, such a jerk, she could still quickly spot him at first glance in a sea of people!
That was Martin's charm!
Martin seemed to sense someone's gaze on him. He turned around and saw Victoria in her white down jacket and knit hat, making eye contact with him from not far away.
He looked away, then quickly stubbed out the cigar in his hand, threw it in the trash, and walked toward her. "All done?"
Victoria nodded.
Martin couldn't be bothered to speak nicely to her. "The test results will be ready soon. We'll wait here."
At 11:30 AM.
Terry handed the test report to Martin, "Mr. Collins, this is Mrs. Collins's examination results. Please review them."
Hearing this, Victoria couldn't help but press her lips together and clench her fingers.
Was there something wrong with her mentally?
Brian walked over at that moment, greeted Martin who was looking at the results, then nodded hello to Victoria.
"Take Victoria to the car to wait for me." Martin handed the car keys to Brian.
Brian nodded. Victoria didn't say anything either, turned and followed Brian out of the hospital.
He opened the car door for her, and after she sat in the back seat, he got in the driver's seat. Seeing her constantly rubbing her hands, he thoughtfully turned on the heat.
Victoria said thank you.
"Mrs. Collins, don't worry. You're definitely fine. Everyone encounters unhappy things from time to time and feels down. As long as it doesn't continue all the time, it's not a big problem. You still need to adjust your mindset. After all, you're pregnant now, and pregnant women can't be in a bad mood." Brian couldn't help but chime in.
Victoria smiled bitterly. Really no problem?
Then why was Terry's expression so grave?
Martin looked at the report and told her to wait in the car first.
She really felt very depressed inside. She'd been suffering from insomnia for over ten days.
Like now - she was exhausted but just couldn't sleep.
She clearly had a problem, but no one believed her!
More than ten minutes later.
Martin opened the car door, bringing in the cold air from outside, and sat next to her.
He was carrying a plastic bag full of medicine bottles.
Martin told Brian to drive home.
"What are the test results?" Victoria bit her lip.
Martin spoke expressionlessly, "We'll talk about it when we get home."
Back home.
Victoria smelled the aroma of meat.
But she had no appetite at all.
"Mrs. Collins, Mr. Collins, you're back? I was just about to call you to ask when you'd be back. You can wash your hands and get ready to eat." Kaida, wearing an apron and holding a spatula, came out of the kitchen.
Victoria said okay, then followed Martin to the living room. "Can you tell me now?"
"Eat first."
"Martin!"
"After we eat, I'll show you the results! The results are already out, no need to worry about this moment." Martin's cold gaze swept across her face. "Go wash your hands and get ready to eat."
Victoria felt like she was being played with, and felt inexplicably irritated.
But she still forcibly suppressed the irritation in her heart. Going to the bathroom, she looked at herself in the mirror - completely lacking energy, looking sickly.
Victoria's mind started wandering again, and tears came without warning.
Enormous sadness surrounded her like an inescapable net.
This net was strangling her so tightly she couldn't breathe!
She was about to be strangled to death!
Victoria worried that people outside would hear her crying, so she turned on the faucet. Before, she was afraid of death, but now she actually had the thought that death might be good!
Her sobbing was drowned out by the sound of running water.
Someone knocked on the bathroom door.
Victoria stopped sobbing. Through tear-blurred eyes, she saw Martin's tall figure appear on the glass door of the bathroom.
His voice was low and hoarse, "Come out and eat when you're done washing."
Worried Martin would notice something wrong, Victoria cleared her aching throat, "Coming."
Her eyes were already red. Victoria washed her eyes with cold water, then opened the door and walked out. As soon as she sat down, she saw the table full of dishes.
She stabbed at the food with her fork and stuffed it in her mouth.
"Why were you crying? Not feeling well?" Martin looked up and saw Victoria's slightly red eyes. His voice was soft, lacking its usual sarcasm.
