Chapter 115
Victoria gripped the pen holder tightly in her hand.
"Put it down!"
Martin threatened.
Victoria didn't let go.
"I'm counting to three, Victoria. I'm counting to three, and if you don't go do your work, I promise you'll regret it." Martin counted to two.
Victoria weakly put the pen holder down, slamming it heavily on the desk.
She wiped away her tears and ran out of the CEO's office.
Victoria sat on the steps crying for a while, then went to the storage room, changed into dirty cleaning clothes, grabbed a broom and other cleaning tools, and started a new day of cleaning.
Damn Martin, bastard Martin, all you know is how to bully me, bully Victoria who loves you most. When you've tormented me to death, let's see who you'll torment then.
Then Victoria thought again - Martin hated her. After she died, he'd only clap his hands and laugh with joy, maybe even throw a happy party.
How could he possibly feel sad?
Whether Martin would even attend her funeral was unknown. He probably wouldn't, right? He had her coffin all ready, just waiting for her to die.
He tormented her like this simply because he thought she was dying too slowly.
Every department at the Gonzalez Group was running in an orderly fashion.
Brian told Martin that the CEO of the Hill Group would be coming over soon to discuss the latest quarterly cooperation plan with Martin.
This newly appointed CEO was extremely mysterious - nobody knew who it was.
Martin took this cooperation very seriously because the Hill Group was a leader in the jewelry industry. With the Gonzalez Group just entering the jewelry business, having such an established company to guide them would only make them stronger.
The executives in the conference room were all ready, waiting for their partners to arrive.
But their partners were a full twenty minutes late.
Martin was already getting impatient. He glanced at his watch - nobody had ever dared to make him wait. It was always others who waited for him.
"Follow up on this," Martin looked at Brian.
Brian pressed his lips together. "Mr. Collins, I already did. They said the Hill Group's CEO has arrived and should be here soon."
Just as he finished speaking, the conference room door was pushed open.
"Sorry, traffic jam. Kept you all waiting."
A carefree voice echoed through the conference room.
Brian looked over first. "Why is it you?"
Martin adjusted the metal glasses on his nose and looked over.
There was Aaron wearing a fitted suit, followed by his secretary and assistant, quite an impressive entourage.
Aaron walked up to Martin and smiled slightly. "Mr. Collins, we meet again."
"Officer Hill, what a surprise." Martin shook his hand.
Just once, then let go.
"Let's start the meeting."
Martin said expressionlessly.
Everyone thought Aaron would be an outsider, but his comments during the meeting deeply impressed everyone present.
They all agreed that such an excellent young man was wasted as a police officer.
During the meeting, they signed the cooperation agreement framework.
After the meeting.
Brian symbolically invited Aaron to stay for lunch, but Aaron declined while buttoning his shirt. "Thanks for Mr. Collins' kindness, but I just took over the company and have many things waiting for me to handle. I'll take my leave."
"Mr. Hill, the Hill family doesn't seem to have someone like you, does it? How did you suddenly transform into the CEO of the Hill Group?" Martin sized up Aaron's back.
He was tall and thin. The suit made him look much more mature, not as sharp and commanding as his police uniform.
His features were also perfect - with such good looks, he must be quite popular.
Aaron clearly heard the challenge in his words. He turned back and smiled. "Mr. Collins, whether the Hill family has someone like me or not, I am the CEO of the Hill Group. Goodbye."
With that, he put his hands in his pockets, turned and left.
Martin narrowed his eyes and told Brian, "Look into it."
"Yes, Mr. Collins."
"What time is it now?"
"One in the afternoon."
"Has Victoria eaten?"
"No, she's still mopping the floor on the first floor."
"Go to the cafeteria and pack a meal."
Brian knew this was Martin caring about Victoria, wanting to bring her food.
He hurried to the cafeteria to pack the food and handed it to Martin.
Martin took it, carrying the lunch box into the elevator and pressing the button for the first floor.
He remembered Victoria had severe low blood sugar - if she didn't eat on time, she would faint.
The first floor of the Gonzalez Group.
Only Victoria was there, cleaning with a broom.
She chose this time because during lunch, all the employees were gone.
Perfect for her to finish cleaning.
Suddenly everything went dark - she couldn't see anything.
Her mouth was dry.
Victoria got a bit scared. She crouched down and felt for her bag - empty.
She hadn't brought any candy. She was too hungry and her low blood sugar was acting up again.
Victoria just hoped her vision would return quickly so she could go to the storage room and get candy from her handbag.
She had eaten a big breakfast specifically because she was worried about getting hungry too fast, but her low blood sugar still kicked in.
"Ms. Gonzalez, are you okay? What's wrong?"
Suddenly a pair of large hands helped her up.
This voice sounded so familiar, but it wasn't Martin's!
"Do you have any candy? My low blood sugar is acting up." Victoria pressed her lips together and spoke anxiously.
Her vision was like a gray net with countless small particles jumping around.
Something square appeared in her palm.
A familiar, warm voice came to her ear, making Victoria feel especially secure and at ease.
"This is chocolate. I've unwrapped it for you. Eat it quickly."
Victoria put the chocolate to her lips and took a bite.
So bitter.
Within seconds, she could see her surroundings clearly again.
And of course, she could see Aaron standing in front of her.
But he was dressed very formally - in a suit, black dress pants, and shiny leather shoes.
Behind him were a secretary and an assistant.
Victoria pressed her lips together. "Officer Hill, are you here to work?"
"He's the newly appointed CEO of our Hill Group. He came here to meet with Mr. Collins." The secretary quickly explained, seeing Aaron had been misunderstood.
Victoria remembered last night at the supermarket when Aaron told her he was going home to help with the family business. She thought it was some small business, but he was actually the newly appointed CEO of the famous Hill Group!
He was from the Hill family!
"Ms. Gonzalez, why are you working as a cleaner here?" Aaron frowned, looking her over - wearing oversized, rough, dirty cleaning clothes, with big leather gloves on her hands, cleaning tools beside her.
In his memory, she was a well-dressed, glamorous lady.
Victoria thought for a moment. "It's a long story."
Just then, Martin walked to the lobby entrance carrying the lunch box and saw the two of them together.
Especially Victoria, looking at Aaron so pitifully.
Aaron suddenly spoke up. "Cleaning tools don't suit you. Ms. Gonzalez, if you want to work, you can come to our Hill Group. I happen to need a secretary. What do you think, Ms. Gonzalez?"
Martin's expression changed dramatically - he wanted to crush the lunch box in his hand!
