Chapter 49 False Accusation

Chapter 49 False Accusation

The investment conference began shortly.

Beatrice, dressed in professional attire, walked onto the stage with natural confidence, instantly drawing everyone's attention.

She was already good-looking. Usually too lazy to dress up, she was pretty enough with a bare face, but today with a bit of effort, she was so stunning that people couldn't look away.

To host today's investment conference perfectly and not disappoint Sean, Beatrice had prepared for a week in advance.

So now, as she presented the project proposal, she was calm and confident. Every word and action showed strong professionalism and intelligence.

Arthur watched Beatrice on stage, but what came to his mind was the image of her wearing an apron in the kitchen, preparing meals and waiting for him and Sloane to come home.

The woman on stage now felt incredibly unfamiliar to him.

Behind him came Charlie and others' voices of disbelief: "Is this really Beatrice? I can barely recognize her."

"Looking at it this way, Beatrice and Arthur actually make a pretty good match."

Jennifer closed her eyes, forcing down the anger in her heart.

Fortunately, Beatrice's presentation wasn't long. When it ended, thunderous applause erupted from below, and the cheering continued for quite a while before stopping.

Next came the Q&A session. Jennifer, who had been holding back for a long time, was the first to stand up.

"Thank you, Ms. York, for your wonderful presentation. I just have a question I don't quite understand. Could Ms. York help clarify it for me?"

Beatrice looked at Jennifer in the audience. With just one glance, she understood what Jennifer was thinking.

Her performance today should have been pretty good. In front of Arthur and his friends, she had finally redeemed herself and shown what she could do.

Jennifer must be furious inside right now. Standing up at this moment, asking questions was probably just an excuse - she really wanted to cause trouble.

Although Beatrice found Jennifer's behavior of using chemistry as a tool for comparison disgusting, she wasn't afraid of whatever tricks Jennifer wanted to pull!

Beatrice smiled faintly: "Of course, Miss Rivera, feel free to ask any question. As long as I know the answer, I'll tell you."

Jennifer sneered inwardly. She was a chemistry genius after all - did she need Beatrice to teach her?

Feeling that Beatrice was showing off, Jennifer was annoyed, but thinking about what was going to happen next, she couldn't help feeling a bit excited.

Jennifer took out from her bag the rejected proposal she had gotten from Calvin earlier, supposedly one that Mr. Morris had passed on, and said sarcastically: "I have here a proposal that was rejected by Mr. Morris. I've never been able to figure out what's wrong with it. Could Ms. York please enlighten me?"

On stage, Beatrice's eyes darkened.

It seemed her guess was right - Jennifer was here to cause trouble on purpose.

By bringing up Sean first, she was indicating that the proposal in her hand definitely had problems. Then by having her check it, if she couldn't find the errors in a rejected proposal in front of all these people, her professional ability would definitely be questioned.

She could even imagine how Jennifer would stir up the crowd afterward, saying she got in through connections and such.

Too bad Jennifer had planned all this but forgot one thing - this rejected proposal was written by her. She knew exactly where the errors were.

Beatrice met Jennifer's expectant gaze and smiled as she stepped forward to take the proposal: "Of course."

The proposal wasn't long, just a few pages. Beatrice only pretended to scan through it briefly: "I've found the problems."

Jennifer almost laughed out loud.

"Ms. York, are you sure you found the problems that quickly?"

She had checked this proposal countless times and even had her advisor in Eldoria personally review it - they all said there were no problems.

No matter how talented Beatrice was in chemistry, she couldn't possibly find the problems after just one look. Even Sean probably couldn't do that!

Jennifer's thinking wasn't wrong. If this proposal hadn't been written by Beatrice, she would indeed need to study it carefully for a while.

Beatrice didn't waste words. Soon, under Jennifer's disbelieving gaze, she pointed out several problems and explained details that could be optimized.

The audience was stunned. After all, this proposal seemed perfect enough to most of them. Like Jennifer, they couldn't see any problems at all.

Coming back to their senses from the shock, people hurried to take photos and pull out paper and pens to take notes.

After Beatrice pointed out all the problems, she looked at Jennifer, whose face had turned pale, with a half-smile: "Miss Rivera, do you have any other questions?"

"No more."

Jennifer stepped forward to take back the proposal Beatrice handed her, then returned to her seat with a pale face.

Arthur glanced at her, his expression somewhat complicated.

He could tell that Jennifer had asked Beatrice to find errors in this proposal to deliberately make things difficult for her.

After all, Jennifer had already studied this proposal seriously for a long time, and even her advisor couldn't find any problems.

Giving it to Beatrice in this setting was clearly asking the impossible.

But what surprised him even more was that Beatrice had found the problems in such a short time.

Looking at the shining woman on stage, then at Jennifer beside him with her defeated expression, his feelings were indescribably complicated.

In his eyes before, Jennifer was pure and kind, gentle yet strong - everything about her was beautiful and radiant, while Beatrice was the complete opposite.

Until just now, he was shocked to realize that his impressions of Jennifer and Beatrice had gradually reversed.

After this little episode, a few more people asked questions. After Beatrice answered them all fluently and was sharing the latest results of the experiment again, the big screen on stage somehow switched to a different display.

The screen content changed from the key points of the proposal to evidence of Beatrice stealing others' data and results. Everything was laid out clearly and systematically. The audience instantly erupted in chaos.

"What's going on? Are the proposals and results Beatrice shared all stolen from others?"

"I knew it - how could someone so young be this good? Turns out she's a thief stealing others' hard work!"

People talked over each other, condemning Beatrice's shamelessness and dishonesty.

Hearing the criticism of Beatrice all around, Jennifer couldn't help sneering inwardly.

After Melissa stole Beatrice's proposal and gave it to her, she had spent all her effort creating today's fake evidence based on that proposal. She wanted to see how Beatrice would explain this!

Jennifer thought smugly, but when her eyes fell on Beatrice on stage, she was shocked to find that Beatrice showed no sign of panic. The way she looked at her was as if she were looking at a clown.

Even at a time like this, she was still pretending!

Jennifer's face darkened. She couldn't stand Beatrice's act the most. She simply stood up and added: "Actually, Beatrice's proposal today has some similarities to the one in my hand. Earlier I thought it was a coincidence and didn't say."
