Chapter 43 Left Her Hanging
Chapter 43 Left Her Hanging
Beatrice panicked a little: "Arthur, snap out of it!"
Arthur didn't say anything. His hot, wet lips landed on her ear, sliding down along her delicate jawline all the way to her pale neck, kissing and nibbling constantly.
His large hand restlessly slipped under her clothes, moving upward along her slender waist.
Beatrice, who had also been drugged, was already uncomfortable. With his stimulation, her body trembled slightly beyond her control, and her breathing gradually became chaotic.
Yet she still tried hard to stay rational: "Arthur, look clearly—I'm Beatrice, not Jennifer!"
Arthur's movements came to an abrupt halt, but soon after, he bit down on her shoulder.
"You really wish it was Jennifer?"
Beatrice's eyes darkened: "At least you two actually love each other."
If it wasn't her here today but Jennifer, Marshall probably wouldn't have needed to go through all this trouble—everything would have happened naturally.
She and Arthur had shared a bed for so many years, yet Arthur had never shown any interest in her body. Only under the influence of drugs did he use her as a tool.
Arthur grabbed her shoulder and forced her to look at him directly: "So what you said to Grandpa today, about wanting to help me and Jennifer be together—was that sincere?"
"Yes, I stopped loving you long ago. Even if you and Jennifer got married tomorrow, I'd smile and give you my blessing."
The two stared at each other, their eyes filled not only with desire but also with anger.
Arthur didn't know where this rage in his heart came from. In the past, he couldn't wait for Beatrice to let go and make way for him and Jennifer.
All he knew was that at this moment, she was driving him crazy with anger.
His large hand slowly covered her neck, gradually tightening. His rough kisses fell again, moving from her lips, down her neck, and further down.
Wrapped in the wet heat, Beatrice's fair skin gradually flushed red.
"Your mouth says you don't love me, but your body is pretty honest. Don't tell me you don't need me right now."
Beatrice looked at him. Strangely, while her body was gradually losing control, her mind remained clear.
"Arthur, whatever was supposed to happen between us has already happened. We're both adults. Today is just about getting what we need. After we sleep together, let's pretend nothing happened. When we see each other again, we'll be strangers."
Before Beatrice could finish, Arthur blocked her lips.
He really didn't want to hear her talk right now, though kissing this mouth felt pretty good.
Strangely enough, in the past, even getting slightly close to Beatrice would make him feel disgusted from rejection.
He had never felt Beatrice was this attractive before.
It seemed the drug Marshall prepared was really strong.
After a long, deep kiss, when both were struggling to breathe, Arthur picked her up and laid her on the soft bed.
Arthur took off his shirt, revealing his muscular upper body.
Even though things had gotten this far between them, he didn't rush straight to the main event. Instead, he quite deliberately teased Beatrice until her whole body trembled.
"Arthur, are you done yet? Do you think we're having some romantic moment?"
She just wanted to start quickly, finish quickly, and get rid of this damn drug effect.
Then she would never see Arthur again.
Watching the alluring expression she unconsciously showed when angry, Arthur was slightly stunned.
"Beg me."
Beatrice's face darkened, and she said through gritted teeth: "I'm begging you."
"Beg me for what?"
"Just do it already."
Arthur chuckled softly and decided not to tease her anymore.
He was certain he didn't love Beatrice. This was just a transaction between two adults—no need for too many extra steps.
Just as they were about to get to the main event, Arthur's phone rang.
He didn't want to answer the phone at a time like this, but he froze when he saw the caller ID.
It was Jennifer calling.
For some reason, he had a bad feeling.
Arthur hesitated: "Wait a moment."
He answered Jennifer's call. On the other end came an unfamiliar man's voice: "Hello, is this Mr. Capulet?"
"Who are you?"
"This is Tranquil Hospital. Miss Rivera attempted suicide by cutting her wrists tonight. A neighbor found her in time and brought her to us."
Arthur froze. Realizing what had happened, he quickly grabbed his clothes and put them on.
He glanced at Beatrice, who had already sat up on the bed: "Sorry, something happened with Jennifer. I need to go."
"I heard." Without Arthur's teasing, Beatrice became slightly more clear-headed.
Although she also wanted Arthur to leave, being left here under these circumstances was a huge humiliation for any woman.
Arthur hesitated: "I'll call a doctor for you when I go out."
"The door is locked."
Arthur said nothing. After getting fully dressed, he gripped the door handle and applied a little force—the door opened.
Watching Arthur's departing figure, besides feeling ironic, Beatrice was also somewhat surprised.
So he had been rational all along. Then what he did just now—was it voluntary?
Soon, Beatrice dismissed this absurd thought from her mind.
How could Arthur possibly volunteer to do that with her? He was probably shocked back to his senses by the news of Jennifer's suicide.
Thinking about the alluring state she had shown under him just now, Beatrice let out a groan and buried her face in the blanket, feeling utterly ashamed!
The doctor came quickly and gave Beatrice an injection. She soon regained clarity.
Such a commotion alerted Marshall.
Marshall was both angry and guilty: "Beatrice, I just wanted to strengthen your relationship as husband and wife. I really didn't expect Arthur to be such a bastard."
"It's okay, Grandpa."
After regaining her rationality, Beatrice actually felt somewhat relieved that Arthur had left.
Although she inevitably felt ashamed deep down, it was better than if something had actually happened.
The only thing that seemed off to her was that Jennifer's suicide was too well-timed.
After coaxing Marshall back to rest, Beatrice went to Sloane's room.
Seeing her come, Sloane's face lit up: "Mom, are you here to sleep with me?"
"I have something to ask you. What did you message Jennifer about tonight?"
Sloane froze, a strong sense of guilt flashing across her young face: "Nothing."
Beatrice sighed: "Something happened with Jennifer, and it might be related to you contacting her. Will you tell me yourself, or should I check your phone?"
Sloane realized she might have caused trouble. Under Beatrice's questioning, she tearfully told the truth.
It turned out that after Arthur and Beatrice returned to their room tonight, Jennifer had replied to her message.
First, she comforted Sloane, saying she wasn't angry and such. Then she started asking Sloane what she and Arthur were doing.
Then Jennifer learned from Sloane that Beatrice and Arthur were locked in a room together, and strange sounds were coming from the room.
No wonder she suddenly attempted suicide.
Beatrice understood everything and only felt it was ironic.
Marshall was wholeheartedly trying to bring her and Arthur together, while Arthur and Sloane were doing everything they could to keep her away from them.
Sloane, still unclear about what had happened, carefully tugged at Beatrice's hand: "Mom, I told you everything. Can you stay and keep me company tonight?"
Sloane's pleading voice was so soft it melted hearts. In the past, even if Beatrice had something particularly important, she would stay to keep her company.
But tonight she was really tired, her mind was full of lab work, and she really wasn't in the mood to keep her company.
"Sloane, I have some other things to do tonight. You go to sleep first."
With that, she turned and left the estate without looking back.
