Chapter 19: He Never Care About Me
Chapter 19: He Never Care About Me
Yvonne
"I don't have anyone else in my life, Yvonne. I only have my grandpa and I can't lose him as well. I will never be able to forgive myself if something happens to him." Nathan said quietly, looking at the ground and my heart clenched in my chest looking at him like this.
This is what I was afraid of, his effect on me is definitely stronger than I am comfortable to admit. When I saw him sad years ago, I had a very strong urge to make him happy so that those beautiful forest green eyes won't be so sad and now I wished I could take all his pain away.
"Okay," I said in a very small voice just above whispering.
I know I might regret my decision forever but I can't bear to see him in pain. He looked at me shocked and then cleared his throat.
"I will tell grandpa when he wakes up." I nodded and he left. What have I gotten myself into?

"He may be a nice guy but I don't think he is suitable for you." My father said he was extremely against the idea of me marrying Nathan.
"Haha, you just don't want to let her go, idiot." My grandpa mocked and my father looked at him with complaining eyes.
"Father, you are supposed to be on my side on this, she is our princess after all." He said to my grandpa.
"Of course she is but I want to see her happy with her husband, having children and loving life." Grandpa said dreamily, my mother and I chuckled.
"I don't know, father. I feel like he will hurt Yvonne." My father protested again.
"You don't know anything about him, I have met him several times and I think he is the best man for her." I looked down and my father and grandpa kept bickering. I wish I didn't need to lie to them.
He eventually convinced my father somehow but he Kay kept brooding until the wedding. But he respected my decision and didn't cause any argument although he treated Nathan coldly. Other than that, things went smoothly. Mr. Clifford was happy and his health was a lot better.
After the wedding, he told everyone that we will go to Paris for our honeymoon for three months which I didn't know about but he just asked me to play along. We boarded the plane but it was just me who went to Paris and Nathan went to the United States to handle the company problem but our families didn't know that. We both continued taking online classes to keep up with our studies.
I know I was fruitless but I still waited for him to call me, check up on me whether I am okay, do I need anything but he never did not even once. After three months when I got back home, he didn't return. He just called once after three months to inform me to tell the families that there was an emergency at the office so he had to leave. He never asked how I was doing, I kept waiting for him to return but he didn't.
And six months passed just like that, me waiting for Nathan and he never returned.

"No father, he asked me to go with him but I refused because I wanted to focus on my studies." I lied to my father to stop from worrying too much.
"You are not just saying that to make me feel better, right? You are really happy, right?" He asked quietly, I closed my eyes to keep myself from crying.
I am so sorry, father, I am really sorry. I kept lying to him and I hate when people lie but here I am, lying to the people I love the most. And I can't even hate Nathan for this, it was my decision after all. I smiled before responding.
"Father, why would I do that? Nathan is really a very loving husband, he just looks cold but he is very nice to me and he cares about me. He keeps calling me several times a day just to make sure that I am okay, he wants to come back right away but you are aware that his branch office in the United States has been facing serious issues and he needs to go there." My father sighed.
"Okay, if you say so. When are you visiting us because your mother and I miss you."
"I really miss you too, father. I will drop by very soon." I assured him.
We talked for a while before he hung up to attend an important meeting. I stared at the phone screen blankly, for the past six months I have been lying to my family and it is breaking my heart. It was a relief that grandpa Clifford decided to go on a vacation with my own grandpa and his other friends. Otherwise, I don't know how I would have kept this on. My tears fell as I cried and cried until I felt a little better. I picked up my phone and dialed his number and he picked up on the third ring.
"Hello?" His deep voice rang in my ear.
"Hey, how are you?" I said softly, not letting him notice my emotions.
"I am fine, why do you call?" He asked right away.
"When are you coming back home?" I asked in a small voice.
"I don't know," he replied.
"It has been six months, Nathan." I said with a controlled voice as tears rolled down my cheeks.
"I have a meeting in a few minutes, let's talk later." He said in a disinterested tone.
It was a lie, it is not even a day break in the United States and working hours haven't started yet.
"No, ummm, there is no need to talk later. It is nothing, I understand. Attend your meetings, bye." I said and hung up without waiting for an answer.
I was so hurt by his tone of voice, it was like I didn't matter to him at all and I regretted calling him. I never called him in the past months because I was afraid he would talk like this. I laid down in bed and cried. Why did I even call him? It is not like he cares but he is affecting me and it is not good. I need a drink.
For once, I wanted to get drunk until I dropped. I stood up and went to the closet and got dressed into a sexy black outfit which hugged every curve of my body. I picked up the car keys and left the mansion where I have been living alone for three months.
I entered a club packed with people, I noticed some appreciating and some envious stares at me but I was used to it already. I walked to the bar and sat down before ordering a drink. The club is owned by a very good Samuel and we usually do a lot of parties and celebrations here. So mostly all the employees knee me, the first floor of the club is a Vip area only open to platinum card members. There were several rooms for members upstairs so whenever we got drunk in the past, the staff knew to deliver us safely to our rooms.
I have stayed here once when we partied to celebrate our graduation and enjoyed getting drunk for the first time since I turned eighteen. Above all, this club was completely safe.
