Chapter 15: Nothing Is Going To Happen

Chapter 15: Nothing Is Going To Happen

Yvonne

I opened the door, leading to the hallway and there was a separate passage leading to the opening, this must be the garden. I stepped into the garden and gasped, it was so beautiful. There were flowers everywhere around the garden and it smelt so nice. There was a beautiful stone passageway between grass covered ground, I followed it and suddenly my eyes landed on a small figure sitting on the bench around the corner.

His head and left arm were covered with bandages, he was bare feet and was staring into space blankly. His face looked so sad and I felt my heart ache for him. I cannot imagine losing my parents at such a young age and he is just thirteen. I looked around and saw his slippers, I picked them up and picked a white rose in my hand while I was on the ground.

"You might catch a cold," I said softly and put his slippers beside his bare foot, I looked up at him and smiled before giving him the rose.

"This is for you," he looked at me shocked and confused at first before he looked at the rose in my hand and extended his hand slowly but he stopped midway and looked at me again but this time, his eyes held anger, hate and something else I didn't know. He grabbed the flower and threw it on the floor.

"Get lost from here, don't ever show me your face!" He yelled.

I flinched at his sudden outburst, did I do something wrong to him? Is it the flower? Does he think I plucked it in his garden? I wanted to tell him that I found these flowers on the floor and didn't pluck it but he stood up and crushed the flowers with his foot.

"I said leave! Get lost!" He roared, my eyes welled up and I immediately ran away from there and saw my father coming towards me in the hallway. I instantly ran to him and hugged him.

"Are you okay, dear? Did Nathan say something to you?" He bent down, leveling his head to mine and asked worriedly, I looked at him and smiled with teary eyes.

"No, father. I just feel too sad for him." I replied, sniffing.

"Oh my kind-hearted princess." He stroked my head and kissed my forehead before taking my hand and we left from there.

From that day on, I never saw Nathan again. When Mr. Clifford visited us, he never came with him and whenever my family went to their place, I didn't go with them.

Years passed and we graduated from high school. I wanted to learn how to manage business like my father so I joined Oxford University for further studies. Samuel also joined me since he was the heir of Lake industries and I was excited to start a new chapter of my life until I got to see from Mr. Clifford that Nathan also went to Oxford but it was too late.

It is not like I haven't forgiven him for his harsh words, I know he was hurting at that time, losing the most important people in his life is extremely painful. Anyone can react like that for the situation he was in. It is just that I couldn't forget those sad forest green eyes for years and as time passed by, I found myself thinking about him more and more which horrified me. I didn't understand his affect on me so I chose the safe way which was to avoid him.

My heart pounded in my chest, my college was starting tomorrow and I was nervous to go there now.

'Oh come on, Yvonne. Nothing is going to happen and it is not like you will meet him the first day you join college. You are not in the same class with him.'

Yes, he is three years ahead of me, his schedule will be different and I might not even see him until graduation. I tried to encourage myself, satisfied with my own reasoning and continued to enjoy my movies with snacks.

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of an annoying alarm. I switched it off and looked at the time with my barely opening eyes and it was already eight in the morning. My eyes opened instantly and I stood up from the bed, running to take a quick shower before going to my wardrobe and picking the first thing that came to my hand. I got dressed quickly, I didn't have time to put on makeup because I was already late for lectures. I went downstairs and almost ran out of the house.

"Slow down and come here first, Yvonne." I heard my mother's voice from the dining table.

"Good morning, father and mother. I am late." I went to them and kissed their cheeks.

"Eat something at least." My mother shoved a toast in my mouth as I was hurrying out. She came behind me with a glass of juice in her hand.

"See you, mother." I said, munching the toast and drinking the juice she held out.

"Drive slowly, no need to rush." I nodded and kissed her goodbye.

I parked my car and came out taking my things, it was almost ten o'clock and I had to hurry. I closed the car door and rushed out but suddenly I bumped into a hard wall and the impact was so hard that I stumbled back, holding my nose.

"Ouche!" I gasped, feeling a strong pair of arms wrapped around me to hold me from falling.

A musky and some unique addicting scent tingled my nostrils and I realized that the wall I just bumped into now was someone's chest. I looked up to the person and found other green eyes that I have been trying to avoid for years, staring right back at me.

I stared into those beautiful forest green eyes, staring back at me intensely. He had grown up so handsome with hypnotizing eyes, pointy nose, full lips, his pearly white teeth, sharp jaw and slightly curly hair. A beautiful dimple on his chin, he was the definition of perfection.

I noticed that my hand was on his hard chest, fisting his shirt. I lost my grip on his shirt and looked at him again but this time, his eyes were cold, distant and angry. I quickly pulled away from him and hastily picked to my thighs.

"Thank you," I said very fast and quickly walked past him.

"Wait!" I heard his cold voice and my heart thump in my chest as I turned to look at him.

"Here," he picked up my phone on the floor and handed it to me.

"Oh, thanks again." I mumbled, taking my phone from his hand amx making sure to not touch his hand.

I immediately walked to my class to meet up with Samuel. Ever since that day we bumped into each other, we saw each other almost everyday but he never noticed me again like I don't exist at all. I couldn't help but notice that he never looked at girls. Although his friends had girlfriends or filings but he was never involved. I don't know why but knowing that he was not a womanizer gave me a weird warm feeling inside my chest.
