Chapter 29 Officer, you have to arrest him
Molly’s POV
After Radley’s call, Gianni didn't stop there. “Are you done with the call now? Hurry up and kiss her feet before your brother arrives.”
His expression was defiant and I was beginning to worry about his busy schedules. He had already spent an hour here and I feared spending more of his time.
Radley was in tears. Not even my slaps made him cry, and his stubbornness was so ingrained in him that he didn't comply.
“I can’t. She means nothing to me.”
A slap from Gianni sent him crashing into the sofa, his mother wailing as if she had just lost a son and a husband when we heard the sound of a siren.
Gianni was displeased because Radley was fortunate not to have hit the wall like his father and was cushioned by the sofa instead.
The sound of the siren grew louder, and I wondered who had called the emergency services.
However, Radley's face and eyes were red and swollen as he wailed in his mother's arms. Bertha smartly remained on the floor where he was and had succeeded in picking and dropping some of the jewels on the center table with her mouth.
There was a knock at the door, and Gianni answered it to find a police officer. I thought he would panic, but the two officers seemed nervous at the sight of him, making me wonder what Gianni had truly become.
“Mr. Dawson, we received a call about abuse and a deceased man," the officer said politely, maintaining a fair distance between them.
Before Gianni could respond, Radley screamed, "Officer, arrest him. He killed my father," pointing at the old man on the floor as another siren sounded in the distance.
The officers quickly attended to the unconscious man, and I feared Gianni would be arrested on my behalf.
"He's not dead," one of the officers announced, a relieved sigh escaped me just as another knock on the door signaled the arrival of paramedics.
Gianni guided them to the old man, and to my surprise, the officers left as soon as the paramedics began their assessment.
"Officer, you must arrest him," Radley insisted, but his pleas went unheard as the officers rushed out as if they were afraid for their lives, the paramedics took the old man out of the house.
Wesley’s mother was about to follow them when Gianni blocked her path. “Where do you think you are going? Who is going to pay for the damages?” He pointed at the broken jewelry box on the floor.
Bertha was still on her knees but she looked like a statue, probably too stunned because of all that was happening.
Without a word from Gianni, she began to pick up the jewelry with her mouth again. It was fulfilling to see her brought to her knees, but the broken jewelry took away my victorious feeling as I knelt before the shattered pieces.
“Get up, Molly. That box will be repaired or replaced by them,” Gianni said confidently.
Hope filled my eyes, though hostility dominated the eyes of Wesley’s mother as Gianni said to her, “Kiss her feet.”
“What?” the middle-aged woman’s eyes turned teary. I tried to stop Gianni, as I felt it wasn’t right.
“Gianni, it's not necessary,” I pleaded, but he glared at me as if I had just asked for his head.
The next second, he stared at the middle-aged woman coldly before replying to me. “Your opinion doesn’t matter here, Molly. I promised to bring everyone who hurt you to your feet, and since you agreed, you have no right to stop me.”
Shock spiraled through me at the way he justified his actions by my acceptance of his promise to help me with revenge. I wondered how much more of my words he was going to use against me to manipulate the situation.
"I said, kiss her feet," he snarled, but the woman remained unmoved. Gianni then grabbed her by the back of her neck and threw her on the floor, but a familiar voice interrupted.
“Stop!”
Wesley rushed in with Kiara and a group of men I assumed were bodyguards. His arm was in a splint, and Kiara had a bandage around her ankle.
The presence of Gianni surprised them, but Wesley quickly ordered the bodyguards, “Deal with them.”
Gianni chuckled as the five bodyguards approached us. “What a waste of human resources.”
Radley and his mother were smiling, visibly excited, as Wesley helped his mother and Bertha up from the floor.
Kiara stood by Gianni, glaring at me. However, when two bodyguards attacked, Gianni swiftly evaded their blows, sending them flying with his kicks.
Where did you find these weaklings?" he taunted, twisting the last bodyguard's neck.
I stood frozen, noticing that despite the fight, Gianni's suit remained pristine and unwrinkled.
Casually holding Wesley, Gianni wiped a small amount of blood on his finger on Wesley’s shirt. "Wesley, after the lesson I taught you this morning, you should have performed better."
Wesley felt like he wanted to cry as he glared at me, but I smiled in satisfaction. Gianni used his expensive shirt as a rag, and he could do nothing about it.
The bodyguards he came with were either dead or unconscious. Knowing Gianni so far, I knew he wouldn’t take responsibility for it.
Wesley, his family, and Kiara were wide-eyed as Gianni stood his ground.
"Now that you're all here, you will repair Molly's jewelry box and kiss her feet," he declared, locking the door with each word.
The atmosphere tensed up with the dead bodies on the floor, but Radley rushed to his brother’s side, complaining, "The cops were too scared to arrest him. Dad has been taken to the hospital."
"You won't let him bully us, will you?"
