Chapter 783: Spy

Chapter 783: Spy

At this moment, Austin didn't notice Vincent's gaze fixed on the hand he'd placed on his shoulder, eyes full of disgust.

Laura caught this and quickly pulled Austin away on purpose, then put her arm around Vincent's shoulder, deliberately softening her tone. "Vincent, what Austin means is he specially brought some good wine today for you to try. He couldn't find you earlier, so he didn't drink much—saved it to share with you."

Vincent didn't answer. He simply shook off Laura's hand and sat down on his own.

Laura felt a bit awkward, but to save face, she forced a smile and sat down next to Vincent, urging everyone to keep drinking.

Meanwhile, news that Kimberly and Vincent had been in a room together reached Maya's ears.

She was sitting on the couch taking a phone call, and when she heard this, she nearly jumped up in excitement.

"Are you sure you didn't see wrong?"

"I'm sure. Not only did I see it, but even Lexine witnessed it herself, though she didn't ask anything."

Maya paced back and forth in the living room excitedly. "So you're saying they might have been doing something they shouldn't have been doing in that room?"

"I can't say for sure, but the two of them were in the room for a really long time. Laura even tried to go in with some people, but Lexine stopped them."

Hearing this, Maya couldn't contain her excitement. Her breathing quickened, her expression both nervous and thrilled. She was even mentally preparing herself for the possibility that Kimberly and Vincent might get back together.

She said, "Let me know immediately if there's any development. Don't miss any clues."

Then the person on the other end added, "There's something I've always found strange. Every time Ms. Sanchez comes to the Watson Family as a tutor, Mrs. Watson has her bring Caleb along, and I've noticed Mrs. Watson pays special attention to Caleb."

Maya's gaze paused slightly, a flash of surprise crossing her eyes. Her pupils contracted slightly, revealing confusion and astonishment. "Are you sure?"

"I wasn't sure at first, but after observing several times, I'm certain now. Mrs. Watson really does pay special attention to Caleb, and every time Ms. Sanchez finishes her lesson and is about to take the child away, Mrs. Watson is reluctant to let go—she wants to spend more time with him. The servants at the Watson Mansion are gossiping privately, wondering if Caleb might be Mr. Watson's child, but they only dare whisper about it behind closed doors, afraid of causing trouble."

Maya's eyes sparkled with excitement, her fists clenched as if trying to suppress her inner thrill. "You're sure about this?"

"I'm very sure. I've been observing for a long time. I didn't dare tell you before because I wasn't certain, but now that I am, I'm telling you."

Maya's heartbeat quickened, pounding in her chest like a drum, full of anticipation and excitement. The corners of her mouth lifted slightly. "Got it. Keep watching. I'll investigate whose child Kimberly's kid really is. When you get a chance, get me some of the child's hair or nails."

"Okay, I understand, Mrs. Sanchez. But this might take some time—there's no opportunity right now. You'll need to wait."

"Fine."

After hanging up, Maya's excitement surged through her like an undercurrent, her heartbeat leaping like a wild rhythm, her face showing uncontrollable excitement and anticipation.

If the child in Kimberly's belly really was the Watson Family's child, then everything would work out.

Although Maya didn't understand why Kimberly would divorce Vincent if she had his child, she didn't care about that. If this child really was Vincent's, she would use her own methods to push Laura out.

They partied until the early morning hours before finally seeing off all the guests. Amelia was so upset she'd taken sleeping pills and gone to bed early, while Laura was quite pleased with herself—this was exactly the effect she wanted.

After the guests left, Vincent returned to his room early.

Since getting married, Vincent and Laura had always slept in separate beds. If Laura insisted on sleeping in the same room as Vincent, he would put a quilt between them as a dividing line, absolutely refusing to touch Laura at all.

At the Watson Mansion, they simply had separate rooms.

He was about to go to sleep when there was a knock on the door. He didn't need to guess—it was Laura.

Vincent didn't get up, just said flatly, "What is it?"

"Vincent, open the door. Let me come in and talk." Laura's voice came from outside.

But Vincent clearly had no intention of opening the door. He frowned slightly. "It's late. Whatever it is can wait until tomorrow. I'm tired."

There was a moment of silence outside, then Laura's voice came again. "Someone said they saw you and Kimberly in a room together for a long time—the same room I tried to enter. Don't you think you should explain this?"

Vincent froze for a moment, his expression changing briefly before returning to normal. "That's nonsense. Don't believe it. I don't want to explain this kind of thing."

"What if I have proof? I even have photos."

A few seconds later, Vincent opened the door, his face dark, his whole body radiating coldness.

"What are you trying to say? You planted someone to spy at the Watson Mansion?"

Laura raised an eyebrow, a faint smile playing at her lips. She walked in unhurriedly and casually sat on the bed, even crossing her legs and deliberately striking a suggestive pose.

Vincent closed the door and walked in expressionlessly. "Well? What's your point?"

"I don't have a point. I just want to know why you were in a room with Kimberly this afternoon, and why Kimberly pretended there was no one in the room, acting like it was real." Laura's tone carried a hint of displeasure, her eyes full of scrutiny.

Vincent's cold face showed no emotional fluctuation. Facing all this, his eyes revealed only calm and indifference.

"Are you questioning me right now?"

"I'm your wife. You lied to me, and you were alone in a room with your ex-wife for so long. Don't I have the right to ask what happened?" Laura's attitude was firm, as if she'd caught Vincent in something.

Vincent's expression was serious, still showing no emotional ripples. His face was like a mask—no one could see through to his true thoughts.

"Laura, you should know how you got the title of wife. If Kimberly hadn't given it up, you probably never would have married me in your lifetime. And you haven't fulfilled a single condition you promised me. I'm being pretty nice by not holding you accountable."
