Chapter 775 Bedridden
Chapter 775 Bedridden
"Of course it's worth it! Whether you and Kimberly are divorced or not, no matter what your situation is, I need to tell you now, Kimberly will always be my granddaughter-in-law in my heart. That Laura will never be!"
Vincent, already familiar with Amelia's mindset, didn't argue. His tone was a mix of seriousness and nonchalance.
"That's your opinion, Grandma. I can't change that."
"And don't you dare bring Laura's friends to the Watson Mansion again. Do you think I don't know? She's just trying to intimidate me by flaunting her influence in front of me!"
Vincent's expression remained cold and indifferent. "Grandma, it's too early for you to get this upset. What about your health?"
Amelia scoffed, "Marrying Laura has probably taken five years off my life. You'll be the death of me!"
"I have a meeting this morning. I'll bring you your favorite pastries tonight." With that, Vincent left the study.
Amelia sat on the couch, clutching her chest. She knew Vincent could hear her, but she couldn't understand why he was now supporting Olivia and Marc. Supporting Laura made some sense since she was married into the family, but Olivia and Marc?
Vincent had despised those two since childhood.
Just then, Lexine came in with breakfast. She set it on the table and tried to soothe Amelia. "Mrs. Watson, you must control your emotions. Don't get angry."
"How can I not be angry? Laura tried to seduce Vincent first thing in the morning, showed me no respect, and acted all high and mighty. Vincent didn't even stop her. He was never like this before he married Laura. I really think he's changed." Amelia sighed, her tone full of regret.
Lexine's expression was complicated. "Mrs. Watson, I believe Mr. Watson has his reasons. If we interfere, it might make things worse."
"He's helping Olivia and Marc thrive in business, practically riding on the Watson Group's coattails. What's the reason behind that?" Amelia took a deep breath, clearly not understanding.
Lexine could only speculate. She had no concrete answers. "Mrs. Watson, the most important thing now is to take care of your health. We'll deal with the rest as it comes."

That evening, Vincent did come back, and he brought the same crowd from the previous night, plus more people. It was like he turned the first-floor living room into a massive party venue.
Laura even rented a huge sound system, blasting deafening dance music that could be heard clearly from the third floor.
Even healthy people felt their hearts racing, as if they were about to jump out of their chests.
Amelia stormed downstairs and smashed the sound system, even pouring a bottle of beer over Laura. Laura, furious but unable to retaliate, could only play the victim in front of Vincent.
Vincent remained indifferent to Amelia's anger, simply asking Lexine to take Amelia upstairs to rest. He continued partying with the guests until the early hours.
Initially, it seemed like Vincent was just trying to spite Amelia, but this went on for several days. Every night, Vincent and Laura brought a large group of people home for parties. Though they stopped playing the deafening music, the noise was still loud. Amelia couldn't handle it and had to sleep with earplugs.
It seemed like Laura was doing it on purpose, often making a racket right outside Amelia's door.
During the day, Lexine asked Vincent what he was trying to achieve. Vincent claimed it was all for business, but Lexine's private investigation revealed that these so-called business dealings had nothing to do with the Watson Group. They were all collaborations with Marc and Laura, with Vincent just keeping up appearances.
No matter how much Lexine tried to persuade him, Vincent insisted he knew what he was doing and continued as he pleased, ignoring her advice.
After several days, Amelia couldn't take it anymore and fell ill again.
Her doctor had specifically advised her to rest and avoid stress after her last surgery, but Vincent's actions had pushed her to the brink. What could she do?
What infuriated Amelia even more was that Vincent had invited Olivia to the Watson Mansion. One night, Amelia went downstairs for water and saw Olivia acting like the lady of the house, entertaining guests as if it were her own home.
This only fueled Amelia's anger, nearly driving her to the edge.
She had been able to move around before, but now, after one blow after another, she was bedridden, often needing a respirator.
Seeing Amelia in such a state, Lexine was ready to confront Vincent, but the frail Amelia stopped her.
"Let it go. He won't care now if he hasn't cared all this time. I think he wants to drive me to my grave, thinking I'm just an old nuisance."
Lexine's face was full of concern. "Mrs. Watson, Mr. Watson isn't like that. I believe he has his reasons."
"Reasons? No reason justifies driving his grandmother to death." Amelia's voice was weak, as if she might draw her last breath any moment.
If it weren't for the private doctor always by her side, Lexine would be worried sick about Amelia's condition.
When Olivia heard that Amelia was bedridden, she had the audacity to visit, bringing what she claimed was homemade chicken soup.
The moment Amelia saw Olivia, she threw a vase at her, causing Olivia to drop the bowl. The hot soup spilled all over the floor and onto Olivia's feet, making her scream in pain.
"You threw that at me!"
Amelia shouted, "Get out of my room! Get out of my house!"
But Olivia wasn't about to leave. She crossed her arms, looking down at Amelia. "Mrs. Watson, I was once a daughter-in-law of the Watson Family. You have no say anymore. This is your home, yes, but it's also my son's home. If my son wants me here, why shouldn't I stay? The Watson Family is under my son's control now!"
This statement nearly drove Amelia to her grave, but Olivia continued to provoke her. "At the last board meeting, your authority was revoked. All you have left are your shares. Other than that, you have nothing."
