Chapter 128 Missing My Son
Chapter 128 Missing My Son
That morning, Benedict headed to South Hill Golf Club alone.
The final round of the golf tournament was still on the agenda.
He played effortlessly and clinched the championship.
Commentators and the live broadcast were full of praise and admiration.
Benedict, calm and composed, went on stage to receive his award.
The organizers asked him how he wanted the prize money—check, cash, or transfer.
Benedict thought for a moment, pulled out a slip of paper, and handed it over. "Transfer it to my wife's bank account. This is her number."
The crowd was stunned.
The host chuckled, "Looks like Mr. Capulet is quite the loving husband! Your wife must be a very happy woman!"
Benedict smiled slightly, "I hope she will always be happy. Money can't represent everything, but it can show something. Thank you to my family and friends for their tolerance and support. Thank you to everyone here for your attention and encouragement. Thank you!"
He bowed gracefully and left amidst the applause.
Watching the live broadcast at home, Jessica's eyes grew a bit misty.
Bella, did you see that? Your husband has really changed.
Money can't represent everything, but it can show something.
Benedict was right.
Far away in Imperial, Bella was moved as she watched the broadcast.
Benedict really gave me two million dollars?
Oh, he said his money was mine, and he actually followed through?
That's two million dollars!
Bella was a bit excited.
Then the phone rang.
"Benedict, you keep your word?"
"A man who doesn't keep his word isn't a man."
"I'll believe you when I get the notification."
"From now on, you can choose to believe me at any time. I'm working hard to keep my promises."
"You... never mind, I'm busy."
Bella remembered what he had said about making ten million dollars and then getting a divorce, but she didn't say it and hung up.
Does he have no feelings for me other than guilt and compensation?
Has his heart turned cold?
Can he really endure his illness?
Bella didn't believe it!
Jessica also called to congratulate Benedict on winning the championship.
"Benedict, seeing you treat Bella like this makes me very happy. You two must live well together. With so much money, you can live quite comfortably. I hope you always stay like this, it's wonderful!"
"Jessica, I'll only get better."
"Wherever there's a golf tournament, you should participate! I just realized how lucrative these tournaments are! Hehe!"
"If I travel too much, I'll miss home. I won't go everywhere to compete. Money can be earned in many ways."
"Oh, but if you have the chance to make big money, you should seize it! Don't those who work abroad miss home?"
"But I'll miss your unborn son. Before he's born, I want him to be safely nurtured under my watch."
"You... sigh..."
Jessica laughed and sighed, "Then you should make more money for your godson! Being a godfather isn't easy!"
"Even if it's hard, I have to do it. You owe me, so you have to take care of me."
Jessica laughed, "Are you coming home for lunch? I'll go buy groceries."
"No need, I have some things to take care of. Take care of yourself."
"Oh." After the call, a bunch of reporters swarmed over to take photos and conduct interviews.
Many businesses and manufacturers also gathered around, requesting endorsements.
Even the manager of South Hill Golf Club came over, smiling and asking for an endorsement.
Benedict handled it all calmly and then returned to his car.
He made a call to Kenneth to discuss the transfer of the villa.
Kenneth was annoyed but had no choice.
He had to agree and didn't want to delay.
Newport is a place where people honor their bets.
Especially with Francis as the middleman.
Delaying or playing tricks wouldn't do any good.
Kenneth turned and called Dennis, explained the situation, and asked, "Is everything ready?"
Dennis sneered, "Don't worry, if I can't handle this, I'd be too incompetent."
"Good. This afternoon, Ralph and I will handle the transfer and give him the stuff."
"May Benedict suffer endlessly! Winning against us won't end well for him."
Around noon, Benedict arrived at Blue Sail Restaurant.
He didn't sit in a private room but went straight to the kitchen.
He and Francis prepared a simple meal together, their techniques, styles, and aromas were exceptional.
Then they enjoyed the meal with some fine wine.
Francis raised his glass, congratulating Benedict on his beautiful final round and winning the championship and two villas.
Benedict thanked him, clinked glasses, and said, "I'm going to handle the transfer this afternoon. I won two villas, Francis, you can choose one! Kenneth's or Ralph's, your pick."
Francis was surprised and laughed, "Forget it, Benedict, I appreciate the gesture. Keep the villas. Besides, do I look like someone who lacks a place to live?"
"Francis, you're making me feel bad!"
"Not at all. Let's just enjoy cooking together and maybe go fishing. True friends enjoy life together, not money!"
"You're a straightforward person, I respect that."
The lunch was a joyous occasion.
And Kelly's transfer was easily arranged.
Francis said it was a simple matter.
At 3 PM.
Newport Housing Authority.
Kenneth came alone.
Dennis only covered the difference for him and Ralph, so he didn't come.
Ralph was too embarrassed to come and sent a private lawyer instead.
An hour later, both villas were officially Benedict's property.
All the keys were handed over to him.
However, Kenneth shamelessly smiled, "Benedict, can we discuss a small matter?"
Benedict nodded, "What is it?"
Kenneth quickly retrieved two cartons of cigarettes from his new BMW 750.
He handed them to Benedict with both hands, "Benedict, these are special. Not everyone can get them. Ralph's dad got them from an old man while attending a conference in Skyhaven. Take them."
Benedict accepted the cigarettes, looked Kenneth up and down, and laughed, "What's your angle with these fine cigarettes?"
"Don't misunderstand." Kenneth felt guilty but acted natural, "Ralph and I have some redwood furniture in the villas. We'd like to move some out, so we're giving you these cigarettes as a favor."
"Oh, sure. Each of you take a key and move what you want."
"Great, thanks. We'll move this afternoon. We'll leave the keys with the guard when we're done. These cigarettes are really good, enjoy them. When Ralph gets more, we'll get you another couple of cartons."
"Thanks."
With the keys in hand, Kenneth was secretly thrilled and left.
He thought to himself, Benedict, if you dare smoke these, you're done for.
