Chapter 127 The Pregnant Woman's Willfulness

Chapter 127 The Pregnant Woman's Willfulness

The double conspiracy was in full swing.

Benedict had no idea.

Late that night, Jessica and Susie were already asleep.

He quietly slipped out to change Kelly's medication.

Dr. Milton, who had been on duty the previous night, was in the room.

Night nurse Zoey was also there.

Kelly was sleeping soundly in her bed.

Milton had been feeling a bit drowsy, but perked up when he saw Benedict.

He rushed over, excitedly saying, "Mr. Capulet, what kind of medicine is that? It's amazing!"

Benedict stayed calm, "It's just a little trick, nothing special."

Milton looked embarrassed, his face turning red, "I'm sorry about last night. Please forgive me, Mr. Capulet! In all my years of practice, I've never seen anything like it. Your medicine has reduced the swelling at Kelly's fracture site, and it's healing much faster than expected. It's truly remarkable!"

Benedict nodded, glancing at the now-awake Kelly with a smile, "As long as it's working, that's good. Thank you, Dr. Milton. If there's nothing else, I'll continue with Kelly's treatment."

"Of course, Mr. Capulet, please go ahead."

Milton stood there respectfully, eager to observe.

He had been astonished by Kelly's rapid recovery during his rounds and had learned from Zoey what had happened.

Benedict took out the medicine bottle and glanced at Milton.

"Dr. Milton, why are you still here?"

"Mr. Capulet, I just want to see your miraculous medicine. Please, give me a chance?" Milton shamelessly pleaded with a smile.

Benedict nodded without saying much.

Zoey, watching from the side, found it amusing.

Milton was usually quite arrogant in the orthopedics department, but now he was humbled by someone with superior medical skills.

Zoey decided to help out.

Milton eagerly offered, "I'll do it, Zoey. You can rest. It's an honor to assist Mr. Capulet."

Milton's enthusiasm made it hard to refuse.

As he worked, he kept asking about Kelly's condition.

Kelly felt comfortable and reassured.

She closed her eyes, feeling a bit shy but enjoying the treatment.

Benedict finished changing the medication and gave Kelly her dose.

The medicine had a unique fragrance, which Milton found intriguing.

But it was very bitter, and Kelly's eyes watered, though she endured it.

Once everything was done, Benedict put the medicine away and prepared to leave.

Milton, thick-skinned, followed him, wanting to see him off.

Benedict knew what he was after and smiled to himself.

At the car, Milton couldn't help but comment, "You must be quite extraordinary to drive such a nice car!"

"It's just for getting around," Benedict said, taking out a cigarette and offering one to Milton.

Milton, flattered, accepted it with both hands, "I didn't even offer you a cigarette, my apologies."

"No worries, I don't smoke much," Benedict smiled, lighting his cigarette. "Dr. Milton, thank you for seeing me out. If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way."

"Actually, there is something," Milton said quickly, forcing a smile. "Mr. Capulet, you come to the hospital every day, it must be tiring, especially this late. Why not leave the medicine here and just give us instructions? We can handle it."

Benedict chuckled, "Leave the medicine here so you can take some to analyze and study, right?"

Milton's face turned red, his intentions exposed. "Mr. Capulet, you're very perceptive! But I'm thinking of the greater good for all patients with bone injuries. Your medicine could be a breakthrough, and our hospital is willing to pay a high price for the formula."

Benedict shook his head. "Forget it. I can't share the formula. One of the ingredients has caused many deaths. I almost lost my life obtaining it. It's a rare natural resource, not something that can be cultivated. So, I'm afraid your noble intentions will be disappointed."

"Well, I see..."

As Milton stood there in shock, Benedict got into his car.

Through the window, he said, "Dr. Milton, I'm not lying. I only have enough medicine for Kelly's recovery and a little for future use. Once it's gone, that's it."

"Oh!" Milton was very disappointed but also a bit skeptical, wondering if Benedict was hiding something related to medical traditions.

He knew there were skilled folk healers who kept their formulas secret.

Determined, Milton said, "Mr. Capulet, you seem very knowledgeable about medicine. If you don't mind, could you take me as your apprentice?"

"What?"

Benedict pretended to be surprised and laughed. "That won't work! I'm a free spirit, I don't have time to teach you. You're already a chief orthopedic surgeon, a professor! Don't joke around. Goodbye, good night!"

"Drive safely, Mr. Capulet. Safety first!" Milton realized he couldn't push any further.

He understood that Benedict had deep knowledge of folk medicine and was likely very skilled.

Back inside, Milton told the head nurse to take extra good care of Kelly.

The head nurse said Kelly was already in the best room.

Milton insisted, "It can be even better! Find a way! For example, if she needs help with schoolwork, find someone good at high school subjects to tutor her."

Being an authority in orthopedics, the head nurse had to comply.

The next day.

After breakfast, Benedict took Susie to kindergarten.

Jessica wanted to go along, saying she would go to the competition afterward to watch Benedict win and receive his award.

Benedict pulled Jessica aside and whispered, "Jessica, there's no need to go. It's nothing special."

"I want to see it! You didn't take us yesterday afternoon!"

Pregnant women can be quite insistent.

"Yesterday afternoon, you were sleeping soundly, and I didn't want to disturb you. Besides, Susie was with us yesterday, but today she's not. Think about it, I'm your sister's husband. If it's just the two of us going to the competition and receiving the award, people might gossip. Is that okay?"

Jessica blushed and reluctantly agreed. "Fine! I hate those rumors too. But I'm bored at home! I need something to do!"

"That's easy! Listen to some prenatal music, practice the anti-nausea breathing techniques I taught you, or study baby food recipes. Everything for your son!"

"Alright," Jessica nodded, a bit resigned. "If it weren't for the baby, I wouldn't be stuck at home."

Benedict felt a bit sad and tried to comfort her. "Jessica, that's why you're a great mother! Because of your sacrifices and dedication, you're amazing."

"Easy for you to say! You men are all talk."
