Chapter 36 Were the Fireworksb that Lucas Set Off beautiful?
He watched as the hope in Grace's eyes shattered instantly, her expression nearing despair, helplessness, and even collapse.
In the end, she just turned her head blankly to look at the fireworks filling the sky, without saying another word.
The only sound in the room was the fireworks bursting. Henry, with a playful tone, sat by the bed and held her in his arms, placing his chin on her shoulder, and whispered, "Were the fireworks that Lucas set off beautiful?"
Grace just lowered her head in silence, as if nothing could move her anymore.
The light in her eyes had extinguished.
Henry hugged her from behind, his tone very indifferent, as if he were making a deal with her. "Grace, it's time we talked about the price for you to come back."
He gently pinched her chin, scanning her pale cheeks. "I need you to bemy wife, whether for desire or to show off, I don't want to change wives. So if you don't want to be my wife, then let's put everything aside and just talk about benefits."
Grace knew that Henry was starting to reveal his true colors. The man in front of her was the decisive Mr. Montague in the business world.
She knoew that from now on, Henry would revert to his old cold and unfeeling self.
Because this marriage had no love, her love had turned into nothing at this moment.
Henry knew she had already compromised, so he began to propose what he could offer Grace.
He stared at Grace's face and sneered. "I know all you want is Oliver's freedom. Lucas can't help you, but I can."
"Back then, you said you didn't like me and wanted a divorce, wasn't it because you resented me for not helping Oliver appeal? I can help you, and all of this is the price for you to come back to me."
"I know you want to go to Dylan to appeal, but do you know Dylan's appearance fee for returning to the country? The Windsor family can't afford it. Or even if you can afford it, there are so many people in the country more powerful than you, why would he help you?" He pinched Grace's cheek and mocked. "With your body?"
He was not at all stingy with his insults towards her.
And at this moment, it was so ridiculous in Grace's eyes.
Henry had torn off his hypocritical mask, and now there was only a relationship of interests between them, with no emotions involved.
The wife he wanted also only cared about interests, not allowing her to have any other thoughts.
Such a marriage made even sex seem ridiculous.
She laughed miserably, and as she laughed, tears began to flow.
Tears dripped down her cheeks onto Henry's hand. He did not soften, just looked at her somewhat moved expression, knowing she was struggling.
He knew Grace was smart and wouldn't be foolish in such matters.
In the past, there wasn't enough of a price to keep her. Now that the price was enough, Grace wouldn't refuse.
He was in a good mood, turned her face, and gently kissed her eyes, his lips stained with tears.
Henry's voice was hoarse, but with a hint of ambiguity. He cupped Grace's face and whispered. "Mrs. Montague, think it over, Oliver's ten years in prison, plus his future, and the future of your Windsor family."
With that, he didn't want to say more.
He just helped her get dressed, held her hand, and walked to the balcony, looking at the source of the fireworks.
In the dark night, Lucas and a few others stood there.
As if sensing the gaze, Lucas looked up and saw the figures of Grace and Henry holding hands, watching the fireworks.
At this moment, Henry's vanity was greatly satisfied.
At this moment, Grace belonged to him.
Lucas watched in a daze.
