Chapter 818 Face Turned Red with Anger

Chapter 818 Face Turned Red with Anger

Paul raised an eyebrow.

"I'm afraid some people might get so angry they won't give up their position. I'll definitely need a few people to protect my personal safety."

His words had a pointed meaning, and everyone subtly glanced at Preston.

Preston stopped twirling his pen, and his expression froze for a moment and then he pretended nothing had happened. Speaking up now would make him lose to Paul in terms of momentum.

Joseph said coldly, "They can't come in."

Paul looked around the large conference room which was filled with people, feeling the air was bad, so he let the bodyguards wait outside.

"Let's start the meeting," Joseph ordered, and his assistant stood up to begin the work report.

Everyone tacitly shortened their usually lengthy reports by half, just to get to Paul quickly and see how this playboy would end up.

Paul sat bored in his seat. If it weren't too inappropriate, he would have asked for a plate of fruit; he hadn't had a good fruit snack in a long time.

An hour passed, and it still wasn't his turn. Paul yawned and leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes to rest. Just as he was about to drift off to sleep, he suddenly heard someone call him. "Mr. Watson."

Paul opened his eyes and yawned again. "Is it my turn?"

He stretched and then sat up straight. One second he was a lazy playboy, the next his eyes sharpened, sweeping over everyone with a bit of pressure.

Everyone's hearts skipped a beat.

Paul curled his lips, his voice tinged with amusement. "I haven't done much. I've approved all the documents I needed to, no delays, no hold-ups."

Ten minutes passed, and Paul had said a string of nonsense, making Joseph frown deeply. Seeing this, Preston became more convinced that Paul was useless.

Another ten minutes later, Paul ran out of things to say. He was really running out of words. "My report is over." With that, he sat down on his own.

Joseph, with a dark face, was about to have his assistant call the next person when someone spoke up, "Mr. Watson, didn't you say you would recruit technical talent for the company? Where are they?"

As soon as these words were spoken, all eyes turned to Paul.

Paul smiled, "What's the rush? It's not too late to talk about it after your work reports are done."

Joseph asked, "Are you afraid of losing?"

Paul smiled faintly without speaking.

"Alright, next." With Joseph's words, everyone had to drop the subject.

The next person was Preston.

Preston stood up confidently, his eyes glancing at Paul, who didn't even look at him, instead playing with his nails in his chair.

Preston's work report was impressive. He had made many policy changes over the past month, with significant results after implementation.

At the end, Preston paused and continued, "The biggest issue the company faces now is technological innovation. So last week, I contacted two top industry talents, and they will join the company tomorrow."

As soon as Preston said this, everyone couldn't help but whisper. This really put Paul in a tough spot. Seeing this comparison, everyone would choose to support Preston.

Joseph nodded in satisfaction.

There were also shareholders present today. Seeing the different performances of Preston and Paul, they gave more praise to Preston.

Preston glanced at Paul again, seemingly proud.

Paul said, "What a coincidence, I also contacted two top technical talents."

The conference room fell silent.

Preston wasn't nervous. "Really? Then our company will have four talents joining."

Someone asked, "Mr. Watson, who are the two you contacted?" His mocking tone was undisguised.

Paul curled his lips into a smile. "Come in, it's a good time for everyone to meet."

As soon as he finished speaking, two men in suits walked in, one from Country Y and one from Country Z.

Preston's pupils suddenly dilated, and he gripped his pen tightly.

Paul stood up and introduced them to everyone, "This is Cody Brooks, a well-known top talent in the industry, previously employed at a leading company."

"This is Jace Diaz, the best of the best, previously working in a confidential company in Country Y."

"And there's one more, who will join in a couple of days. I'll introduce them then." Paul signaled the bodyguards to bring chairs for Jace and Cody, who sat behind Paul.

Everyone fell silent. Being in this industry, they knew how many excellent talents there were.

Someone was incredulous and asked, "Mr. Watson, did you really recruit these talents for the company?"

Paul retorted, "What? You doubt me?" His words carried a pressure that made the person quickly shake their head.

Of course, they doubted. 'Paul wanders around the company every day, doing no real work. How could such a playboy recruit such top talents for the company?'

And it seemed Jace and Cody were firmly on Paul's side.

Preston's face turned red with anger.

Paul looked over with a smile. "Where are the talents you contacted? Bring them in and introduce them to everyone."

Preston's face turned completely red. He had contacted Jace and Cody, and they had agreed to join him. 'Why are they now recruited by Paul?

Preston was furious and wanted to question Jace and Cody, but realizing the inappropriate setting, he had to bear his anger.

Facing Paul's provocation and questioning, Preston could only silently endure.Paul said, "They will report to the company tomorrow. You'll knowthem then."

Preston questioned, "Are they really reporting tomorrow? Or did you fail to recruit them and are just boasting?"

"Of course not."

"Cody, don't worry. I can offer you better pay. As for Paul, he's just a waste. He can't run a company. If you..."

"Jace, you've heard of Paul. Do you think you can develop under him? He knows nothing."

Before Preston could finish, Paul's phone played two recordings, both of Preston persuading Cody and Jace, constantly belittling Paul.

Everyone's expressions changed, and Preston's face turned pale.

He had met Cody and Jace separately, which meant they were originally Paul's people. When they said Paul had contacted them, he fell for it!

Preston clenched his fists. "If it weren't for my good relationship with Cody and Jace, I wouldn't have known you'd stoop to such dirty tricks to make me lose the bet."

Paul looked at Preston with a half-smile.
