Chapter 49 Chapter 49
Grace POV
I took in a deep breath, and within a breath, I mentally checked myself out to make sure that no one was embarrassed... "Mrs. Rumez?" John called out once more and I almost glared at him. 'Something fishy must be going on between him and Jake' I said inwardly.
Third Person POV
John's pointing out made all the prominent people resent the notice of a table position that was not hidden nor too open. Seating, there was a gorgeous lady who looked to be in her thirties, but they all knew she was older. Her hair cascaded down her middle back like spring water; it was as if no hair in her was entangled with another. Her skin was milky, glowing under the hall light. She was dorning a jade belt which accentuated her tiny waist on her silky milk robe-dress which reached her foot, only a few inch away from touching the floor.
When she stood up the whole room went quiet as she was too beautiful and angelic. Gracefully, she stepped onto the stage, and no one was tired of looking at her or even checking her out. Standing up there and facing the crowd she was as calm as water during the night "Good day everyone, I'm Grace Rumez. Hello to John too for calling me up here unannounced" she paused and people could sense her sarcastic re.ark even though she was still respectful in her speech. Some wondered if the Largo and Rumez are having a little misunderstanding.
"Is she the lady that Boss has been talking about?" Kim Sarawak asked the male next to him on the Dell table. "Yes, it's said that his previous husband and him were best friends but he never expected her to marry another man" the male paused before adding "I heard that Boss also loved her but due to the respect he has for his friend he kept off from her and because he was not sure if he could control his feelings for her once he steps in to help so he kept off all these years and not contacting her even for once. It's said that he regretted not doing anything as he never thought she would have married at all because of how deeply she loved her husband" The male was no other than the Dell headquarters manager.
Although his rank is the top amongst all Dell company managers but he is still considered Kim's subordinate. Kim chuckled. "But she tried, though, for being abstinent for almost twenty years with all this beauty", Kim said. "It seems like even you are hooked," the manager asked Kim. "Who wouldn't?" Kim snorted playfully, his eyes not leaving the stage for once.
"Today is a great day for Ethan, a joyful day for the family, and a day worthy of celebration to all of us guests. To John, congratulations because it's not an easy feat to train a son who is worthy enough to inherit the family and who you trust well enough to manage them well or even upgrade them. Many CEOS of various businesses, not only in this country but worldwide suffer from this exact challenge of picking a rightful heir so their sweat won't go down the grain, so congratulations on your success..."
As she went on, on the platform, Mathew and Vincent were. "I have long heard of her. She's still as angelic and intelligent as she has always been..." Mathew said as if he was reminiscing about the past. "You know her?" A sexy but dark, deep voice that could make one tremble sounded next to him; it was no other than the seduction god Vincent. "Of course, she doesn't know me, though, but when the handsome Mr. Rich married her that year, the whole country was buzzed. Rich was so pretty that it caused jealousy among men of how unfair nature was, and then he ended up marrying an angel who was no lesser than him in terms of looks. So what do you think will happen? Of course, she was known back then, although only a few ended up meeting her. It was a pity that Rich was plotted against by his friends, making him die early, and after that, her name disappeared. I never thought she would still be as stunning as ever," Mathew said.
"Is her previous husband's name Rich? or just a nickname?" Vincent asked once again. "Although it's a nickname because of how pretty and wealthy he was, making people call him that as someone who is 'Rich both in looks and money' but his real name is Richard" Mathew said. "What's the difference?" Vincent said slightly irritated from how ridiculously detailed Mathew was sounding.
Mathew could only chuckle. "Why do you seem interested? Something you rarely do?" he asked Vincent, but the younger male didn't bother to respond, his gaze going back to Grace's figure on the stage as a glint passed through his eyes unnoticed.
"...And finally to Ethan who we gathered here for. From today, you will have much more responsibility than you can ever imagine. You will be waking up every day whilst thinking of ways to keep all your businesses running. Burden after burden and unsolved company headache will be on your head, and you must solve it, it's a must. In a way, inheriting all this is glory and rising to prominence at the world level because you will be known internationally as the CEO of Largo, but it is also a cage in which you are programmed to do the same thing all day whether you grow bored or not, whether you are tired or not. It's a family responsibility placed on your head this time and not shoulder as you can't afford to lax. Therefore, for being the one chosen and is worthy enough to carry the cross of the family, Congratulations," She ended with a smile; Ethan, on the other hand, nodded heavily with a smile whilst looking at Grace fondly.
Victor's eyes were twinkling as he looked at Grace, seemingly in deep thought of his wife-to-be future.
