Chapter 44

Lucas stuttered, he seemed unable to lie to his beloved wife. "Midnight honey. Why are you acting like a detective? I'm really busy, I'm sorry."

"Oh yes?!" Clarie asked as she stood up and turned around to stare at Lucas with a sharp gaze as sharp as a sword's edge. "Becca said you don't have a meeting or business with a client that requires you to come home at night, are you having an affair?!" she asked. She couldn't hold it anymore.

"No, Clarie, I can't cheat on you," Lucas said, he walked over to his wife, but Clarie pulled away and looted with both hands.

"Don't come closer, stop! You don't need to have an affair, if you don't love me anymore just say it... don't be such a coward!" Clarie cursed at her husband, she was angry and she also shed tears.

"Please, honey. You misunderstood, what should I do to keep you from getting angry?!" Lucas kept trying to grab his wife's hand. But, Clarie kept brushing it off.

"No! Don't do anything!"

Clarie went to the toilet, turned on the faucet and sat in the closet, she sobbed, imagining Lucas making out with another woman.

"Baby, I'm not cheating... I'm not doing it, I beg you to open the door Darling!"

Lucas' voice was not very clear but Clarie guessed of course Lucas was kidding, she swore she would leave Lucas if her husband cheated on her. Even though she realized their relationship started with an affair. Is it karma?

"I'll follow him, become a real detective," she said determinedly.

Lucas was wracked with guilt, his ex-wife managed to make his relationship with his wife problematic. 'Is that the purpose of Marion carrying my baby? To keep me away from Clarie?' thought Lucas.

He grabbed the cell phone while Clarie was still in the toilet, then texted Marion.

[This weekend I can't accompany you, I hope you understand.]

The message was sent and Lucas immediately deleted it so Clarie wouldn't be angry.

It wasn't long before Clarie came out of the toilet, the smell of soap wafting in the air made Lucas get goosebumps when he saw his wife wrapped in a towel with wet hair. Like in slow motion, Clarie walked towards the wardrobe without any pretense of waddling, with Lucas' five-inch wide lips smiling in amusement. His wife turns out to be angry too, and she's getting prettier and hotter too. Without a word, Lucas got up and approached his idol, hugged her from behind while launching his naughty flirtation.

"You are very sexy, Clarie," Lucas said, rubbing his front body against Clarie's back.

Clarie almost melted but she then brushed off Lucas' hand that was wrapped around her stomach without saying a word.

"Honey, weekend I promise we will spend time together. I can not cheat on my wife this sexy."

Clarie turned around and looked up at her husband who was pitiful because he asked for her share, but Clarie bravely passed Lucas without saying anything, she went back into the bathroom. She didn't want Lucas to lunge at her, otherwise her mission to get angry would fail.

Lucas followed, he waited in front of their room's toilet door. Clarie smiled briefly, before long she heard her husband's cell phone ring, and Clarie clearly heard Lucas speak.

"Who's he talking to, huh?" muttered Clarie curiously, the woman hastened herself to change clothes.

Meanwhile, Lucas had already lowered his voice when he found out that Marion had called him.

"Why did you call, Marry? Can't you be selfish for one day? I have a new family, can you be patient?!" Lucas' grumble started to get angry because Marion strained his relationship with Clarie.

"This is your baby's wish, not mine, you know that a woman with cravings wants a lot, wants this... wants that. And your baby doesn't want to spend next week without seeing his daddy."

Clarie strained her ears. "Who are you talking to, Lucas?" Clarie finished and was about to leave, she had pressed the door handle and the door was almost open.

Lucas heard the movement, he turned towards the toilet.

"Let's wrap it up!"

Lucas reflexively hung up the phone and put his cell phone on the bed. The man smiled, but couldn't hide his nervousness when Clarie looked at him. Without a word out of her mouth, the woman opened the large curtains of their room, pulled them aside then opened the window ... fresh air entered the room. Clarie then picked up her dirty clothes as well as Lucas, putting them in the dirty basket.

"Honey? Come on, have breakfast together outside? Do you want one?" asked Lucas closer to his wife.

Clarie kept staring at her husband intently, she intended to answer him until Lucas realized his mistake.

"I assume you agree, change clothes and I'll take a shower first, choose a restaurant," Lucas said while squeezing his wife's shoulder gently then went to the toilet.

Clarie remained silent and she immediately took Lucas' cell phone, sat on the edge of the bed and checked all the messages and calls there.

gosh!

Clarie finds an incoming call from Marion's number. Clarie's eyes were hot, dewy and about to escape from her eyelids. "Marion?! Lots of calls from Marion, but no messages."

Clarie then rushed to record Marion's number on her cellphone and deleted the history on Lucas' cellphone, she then went to the wash before Lucas finished taking a shower.

"I'm going to call her, and ask if they've been meeting lately, if that woman takes Lucas from me I'll grab her hair!"

A few minutes later Clarie arrived at the wash, she put the dirty clothes in, separating Lucas' shirt first then his pants and jacket. While sorting, Clarie also checked all the pockets of the clothes. There was paper in the pocket of his work pants, at first he thought it was money but when he took it out of his pants it turned out that the paper was prescription paper.

Clarie read the recipe, and it had Marion's name on it. Clarie became even more suspicious, what was really going on.

"Is Marion sick?!" Clarie was made to wonder.

"Claire?" call Lucas.

Clarie replied as she crumpled up the prescription paper and put it in her shorts pocket.

"Yes!" cried Clarie, intending to ask them all at breakfast.

Thirty minutes later.

"Have you seen Marion lately?" asked Clarie directly.

Lucas, who was enjoying his food, almost choked, he immediately took a glass filled with water and drank it slowly.

"Ehem! Only a few times," Lucas lied, he looked at his wife who was showing her annoyed face. Clarie's chest rumbled, it was true they met often.

"What's wrong? Why didn't you tell me?"

Lucas was confused, between wanting to be honest or lying, if being honest would of course hurt his wife and their relationship would be threatened and if lying Clarie would know for sure, she was not a stupid woman.

"Eum-well, she..." Lucas said hanging.

"She what?"

"She's sick," Lucas said, in fact, it was and it was only partly because Marion was sick with being pregnant.

"What hurts? You met her more than once?" she shoved Clarie again.

"Um-yes, I'm sorry Clarie, I promise I won't see her often."

Clarie chuckled, she put down her fork and knife.

"Are you still in love? She has a family, why should you take care of her?" Clarie grumbled in great annoyance.
