Chapter 630
Chapter 630
The festive atmosphere buzzed in the banquet hall.
Gabriel and Travis, decked out in astronaut suits, were having a blast in the inflatable castle with their classmates.
Zoey and Henry were surrounded by friends and family, soaking up compliments about Gabriel and Travis.
Waiters weaved through the crowd, offering fancy snacks and drinks to the guests.
No one noticed a "waiter" quietly slipping away, nor did anyone realize that this perfect birthday party had already sown the seeds of danger.
At the Divine Horizons Hotel's birthday banquet hall, cheerful music mingled with the laughter of children.
Zoey stood by the champagne tower, sipping her juice, her eyes unconsciously following Gabriel and Travis playing in the inflatable castle.
"What are you staring at so intently?" Celine's voice interrupted Zoey's thoughts.
Zoey turned to see Celine walking towards her with a champagne glass in hand.
Celine looked stunning in a well-tailored navy blue dress that accentuated her figure, her long hair elegantly styled into a bun, revealing her slender neck.
"Nothing much, just seeing Gabriel and Travis having fun makes me happy too," Zoey replied with a smile, her face radiating happiness.
Celine followed her gaze to the inflatable castle, where the kids were joyfully climbing and sliding, with Gabriel and Travis in their mini astronaut suits standing out among the crowd.
"The kids are definitely having a great time," Celine nodded, then lowered her voice, "But I think you should look at the nine o'clock direction."
Zoey turned her head in confusion, her gaze passing over several tables of guests and landing near the buffet area.
Henry was standing there, and a young woman in a light pink dress was leaning in to talk to him.
The woman looked about twenty-five or twenty-six, with delicate features and long hair cascading over her shoulders. She was looking up at Henry with a charming smile.
"Who is she?" Celine squinted, "She doesn't seem like one of your guests."
Zoey shook her head lightly, "I don't know her. Maybe she's a parent of one of the kids."
Despite saying this, Zoey couldn't help but glance a few more times.
Henry's expression was indifferent, merely nodding slightly in response, but the woman seemed unfazed, continuing to talk and occasionally touching Henry's arm.
Celine sneered, "I've seen plenty of women like her, always trying to cozy up to wealthy and powerful men. Henry may be acting cold, but he shouldn't let her be so presumptuous."
Zoey wanted to say it was fine, considering Henry's prominent status in the business world, encountering people who approached him was inevitable.
But Celine had already grabbed her wrist, insisting, "Come on, let's go check it out."
"Celine, there's no need for this," Zoey tried to dissuade her, but Celine was already pulling her towards the buffet area.
As they got closer, Zoey could see the woman's features more clearly.
She was indeed beautiful, with smooth skin and delicate features, especially her large, expressive eyes that seemed to hold endless affection.
At that moment, she was slightly tilting her head, her red lips moving as she spoke to Henry.
Henry's expression remained cold, but when his gaze passed over the woman's shoulder and saw Zoey and Celine approaching, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes, quickly replaced by understanding.
"Henry," Celine's voice rang out before she reached them, "What are you chatting about? Don't forget about Zoey."
Her voice was just loud enough for those nearby to hear.
The woman immediately turned around, and upon seeing Zoey, a barely noticeable hint of jealousy flickered in her eyes, quickly replaced by a polite smile.
Henry hesitated for a moment, looking at Zoey's slightly awkward expression and Celine's protective stance, his lips curling into a faint smile.
He raised the plate in his hand, which held a piece of delicate strawberry cake.
"How could I forget Zoey?" Henry's voice was gentle and firm. "I came to the buffet area to get her some cake. She's been busy since morning and hasn't had much to eat."
Celine saw the plate indeed held Zoey's favorite strawberry cake, and she nodded in satisfaction, though her eyes still warily scanned the unfamiliar woman.
The woman quickly addressed Zoey, "Ms. Spencer, please don't misunderstand. I just came over to say hello to Mr. Windsor. We met at a previous event, and I hope you don't think too much of it."
Her words seemed to explain, but there was a subtle hint suggesting Zoey was a narrow-minded, easily jealous person.
Before Zoey could respond, Henry spoke coldly, "I don't know this lady, nor do I understand why she suddenly approached me."
He turned to the woman, his tone distant yet polite, "May I ask which child's parent you are from Gabriel and Travis's class? Today's guests are either our friends and family or the children's parents."
The woman's face stiffened, her smile forced, "I'm not married yet. I'm Winifred Shaw, Marcella Shaw's aunt. Her parents had something come up today, so I'm here with her for the birthday party."
"Marcella?" Zoey didn't recall the name, as the kids hadn't mentioned her.
Henry nodded slightly, his tone still cold, "Then please continue accompanying Marcella. I hope she enjoys the party."
With that, he naturally wrapped his arm around Zoey's waist, ready to leave.
Out of courtesy, Zoey said to Winifred, "Thank you for bringing Marcella to Gabriel and Travis's birthday party. I hope you have a great time too."
Winifred forced a smile and nodded, but as Henry and Zoey turned to leave, a flash of resentment crossed her eyes, and she instinctively wanted to follow them.
Celine quickly blocked her, "Miss Shaw, please respect yourself."
Her voice was low but sharp, "Henry and Zoey have a strong relationship, not something anyone can interfere with. If you have any sense, just enjoy the party with Marcella."
Winifred's face turned red and white, ultimately watching Celine gracefully walk away.
She stood there, her fingers unconsciously twisting the hem of her dress, her gaze unable to resist following Henry's tall figure.
Henry looked striking in his dark gray suit, highlighting his broad shoulders and narrow waist, exuding the charm of a mature man.
Such a man, wealthy, powerful, and handsome, was the dream of many women.
